2: Introduction
The Wheelbase is made of a strong and lightweight aluminium alloy. It provides tilt in
space and rotation facilities and has 2 fixed rear wheels and 2 castor wheels at the front
for easy steering.
The Interface provides a lightweight, easy to operate, quick release system that can be
fitted to a wide range of special seating systems. Please note the interface requires
additional framework to fit to a seat and been designed to take 19mm (3/4”) aluminium or
mild steel tube.
The interface can be quickly fitted and released from the wheelbase, which can be folded
for transport. The Swirl has been successfully impact tested as a wheelbase and interface
with the Snappi, Snug and Modular seating systems. When fitting third party seating
systems to the Swirl, the manufacturer of the system must carry out a risk assessment
before use.

3: Unpacking
The wheelbase will be delivered in a cardboard box. This measures 680mm wide x
480mm deep x 1030mm high and weighs approximately 15kg.
WARNING:
The transit carton is quite bulky so moving and unpacking must be done with care.
Observe all lifting and handling regulations.
Stand the box upright, making sure it is supported and cannot fall over. Open the box and
remove any packing or packages, which could obstruct the removal of the wheelbase.
Now remove the wheelbase. Please note if you ordered a seat, this will be delivered in a
separate box and will have a separate user manual for operating the seat.
The carton should contain the following items:

4: Preparing the wheelbase for use
WARNING:
Keep children clear of the wheelbase during unfolding and folding.
There are two versions of Swirl wheelbase: one with handwheels at the bottom of the side
bar and the other with quick-release handles (as shown in fig 0.1 on page 2). How to fold
and unfold the wheelbase depends upon the version you have. If you are unsure which
version you have, contact Tendercare with your serial number and we will let you know.
4.1A Unfolding the Frame (hand wheels version - pushchairs supplied after
December 2017):
To unfold the Swirl wheelbase, first
place the folded frame onto a flat
surface. Undo the hook & loop strap
which is attached to front anchorage
point (see Fig 4.1A.1, right).
Ensure the brake is on, as this makes
the frame much easier to unfold (see
section 4.2 for details of brake
operation).

manual.
Fig 4.1A.8
Fold the push handle so the push handle

Fig 4.1A.14
Pull the fold bar as far as it will move.
Once fully folded, lower the fold bar to the
floor - the frame will rest on the fold bar
and rear wheels as shown (see Fig
4.1A.14).
IMPORTANT: Do not place the pushchair
down on it’s side for storage of transport as
this may cause damage to the frame and
plastic components. When lifting in or out of

lock lever down firmly until it locks into
place. This will close the side handle pivots
and lock the side handle into place.
Repeat for the other side.
Note: The handle lock lever can be locked
into any position. We suggest that the
handle lock lever is facing down as shown
in Fig 4.1.6 (left)
Note: It is normal for there to be a little
lateral movement in the push handles when
locked. The tension on the locking lever is
factory set to provide a balance between
ease of use and tension. Do not attempt to
adjust the tension on the locking lever as
this can result in damage to the mechanism.

please contact Tendercare ltd for further
assistance.
