Rev. 03
NOTE: DO NOT DISCARD the Parts List from the Instruction Bulletin. Place the
Parts List in the appropriate place in the machine manual for future
reference. Retaining the Parts List will make it easier to reorder
individual parts and will save the cost of ordering an entire kit.
NOTE:Numbers in parenthesis ( ) are reference numbers for parts listed in Bill of Materials.
Installation instructions for kit number 9002999
SYNOPSIS:
This kit contains the parts needed to install a static ground system kit on 5700XP machines (ONLY
machines serial numbers below 25635 manufactured prior to June 23, 2006. Machines serial numbers
25635 and above manufactured after June 23, 2006 already have this kit installed).
Please follow step-by-step instructions.
SPECIAL TOOLS / CONSIDERATIONS: NONE
(Estimated time to complete: 1 hour)
PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT
Please dispose of packaging materials, used machine components
such as batteries and fluids in an environmentally safe way according
to local waste disposal regulations.
Always remember to recycle.
PREPARATION:
1. Park the machine on a clean level surface,
turn off the machine, remove the key, and set
the parking brake (if machine is equipped with
an optional parking brake).
FOR SAFETY: Before leaving or servicing
machine, stop on level surface, set parking
brake, turn off machine, and remove key.
2. Disconnect negative battery cables from the
batteries.
WARNING: Always disconnect battery
cables from machine before working on
electrical components.
3. Remove the front cover from the machine.
Set the cover aside.
INSTALLATION:
1. Cut the existing static chain from the machine
or use a cable tie (8) to secure the chain to
the frame so the chain does not touch the
floor. Discard the chain if it was cut from the
machine. (Fig. 1)
FIG. 1
2. Cut the new static ground strap (3) so it is
approximately 7” in length.
IB 340822 (07- 2015)2
3. Use a hex screw (6), two flat washers (5), and
a hex nyloc nut (7) to install the static ground
strap (2) onto the strap mounting bracket (4).
(Fig. 2)
FIG. 2
4. Remove the lowest rear hex screw from the
transaxle. Set the hex screw and other
hardware aside. (Fig. 2)
5. Install static ground harness (1) wire G4 and
one flat washer (3) onto the hex screw
removed from the transaxle. (Fig. 2)
6. Use the hex screw (with items installed in the
previous step still installed) and hardware
removed from the transaxle to install the strap
mounting bracket (4)/static ground strap (2)
onto the transaxle. (Fig. 2)
7. Use the front right hex screw securing the
right rear caster wheel to the machine and a
flat washer (3) to connect the static ground
harness (1) wire G6 to the caster wheel
bracket.(Fig.3/Fig.11)
FIG. 3
8. Use a cable tie (8) to secure the static ground
harness (1) to the frame of the machine in
front of the squeegee actuator.
9. Route static ground harness (1) wires G1 and
G2 over the axle and toward the front of the
machine. Continue routing the static ground
harness along the main harness, through the
machine frame, and through the clamp near
the recovery tank float switches. Use cable
ties (8) to secure the static ground harness to
the main harness. (Fig. 4)
FIG. 4
10. Use the upper right hex screw securing the
scrub head actuator bracket to the machine
and a flat washer (3) to connect static ground
harness (1) wire G2 to the scrub head
actuator bracket. (Fig. 5 / Fig. 11)
FIG. 5
IB 340822 (07- 2015) 3
11. Standard Disk Machines Only: Use the pan
screw located on top of the scrub motor cover
and a flat washer (3) to connect static ground
harness (1) wire G1 to the scrub motor cover.
(Fig.6/Fig.11)
FIG. 6
Heavy Duty Disk Machines Only: Use a
scrub motor mounting hex screw and a flat
washer (3) to connect static ground harness
(1) wire G1 to the scrub motor adapter.
(Fig.7/Fig.11)
FIG. 7
Cylindrical Machines Only: Use a hex
screw from the motor mounting bracket and a
flat washer (3) to connect static ground
harness (1) wire G1 to the motor mounting
bracket.(Fig.8/Fig.11)
FIG. 8
12. Route static ground harness (1) wire G5 over
the squeegee actuator bracket and to the rear
panel at the back of the machine. Pull all
slack toward the back of the machine. Use
cableties(8)tosecuretheG5wiretothe
existing harness routed up into the electrical
panel.
13. Remove the two hex screws and washers
from the rear panel and pull the rear panel
open. Set the hardware aside. (Fig. 9)
