Installation Instructions
Preparing the Machine
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the PTO, and engage the parking brake
(if applicable).
2. Shut off the engine, remove the key, wait for all moving parts to stop, and allow the
machine to cool before leaving the operating position.
3. Repair all bent or damaged areas of the mower deck and replace any missing parts.
4. Remove debris from the mower deck or rear part of the mower to ease installation.
5. Clean the belt-cover area and remove the right belt cover.
Note: Retain the right belt cover for later use. If the bagger blower and pulley is
removed it can also be reused.
6. Lower the mower deck to the lowest height-of-cut position.
Modifying the Mower Deck

1. Cut out templates 1 and 2 located in the back of the manual.
2. Tape template 1 into position as shown.
3. Mark the edges shown on template 1.
4. Tape template 2 into position as shown.

6. Using a right angle grinder with a cutting disk, cut the mower deck as marked from the
templates.
7. Use the right angle grinder with a grinding disk to smooth the rough edges that remain
after the cutouts are made.

Installing the Pulley Assembly
Parts Required
1 Pulley assembly
1. Loosen the tapping bolts on the existing mower-deck pulley. There should be a 5 mm (3/
16 inch) clearance between the bolt head and pulley.
2. Align the new pulley assembly so that the openings fit over the pulley bolt heads.

3. Turn the pulley to lock it into position.
4. After the new pulley assembly is in position, tighten the existing bolts to secure the new
pulley assembly.
Note: If the pulley does not turn, loosen the bolts to raise the bolt heads and allow the
pulley to lock into position.
5. Torque the bolts to 21 to 25 ft-lb (29 to 33 N⋅m).

6. Remove the belt-cover support bracket from the mower deck.

Installing the Pivot Bracket
Parts Required
1 Pivot bracket
1 Metal template
3 Bolt (3/8 x 1 inch)
3 Nut (3/8 inch)
1. Align the metal template to the mower-deck edge and clamp it tightly to the mower deck.
2. Use a center punch to mark the 3 template holes in the mower deck.
3. Remove the metal template and drill 3 pilot holes (1/8 inch) with a sharp drill bit.
4. Drill 3 holes (13/32 inch) into the pilot holes with a sharp drill bit.

5. Remove part of the metal belt cover support on top of the mower as shown in the figure
below.

6. Install the pivot bracket using the 3 bolts (3/8 x 1 inch) and 3 locknuts (3/8 inch).
