Thank you for purchasing the VTECH®LITTLE SMART Sing ’n Smile
PalsTM learning toy! This product is one of a family of LITTLE SMART®
educational electronic learning products. We at VTECH®are committed
to providing the best possible products to entertain and educate your

The LITTLE SMART Sing ’n Smile PalsTM learning toy is designed
specifically for infants and toddlers. There are cute animal buttons, light-
up number and shape buttons and a fun keyboard.

WARNING:All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties
and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for
your child’s safety.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is Off.
2. Locate the battery cover on the back
of the unit. Use a coin or screwdriver
to loosen the screw.
3. Install 2 ‘AA’(UM-3/LR6) batteries
following the diagram inside the
batterybox. (Theuseofnew,alkaline
batteries is recommended for
maximum performance.)
4. Replacethebattery cover and tighten thescrewtosecurethebattery
cover.

BATTERY NOTICE
•Install batteries correctly observing the polarity ( +, - ) signs to avoid
leakage.
•Always replace a whole set of batteries at one time.
•Do not use batteries of different types.
•Removeexhausted or newbatterieswhenunit will notbeusedfor an
extended period of time.
•Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
•Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
•The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES.
NOTE: Ifforsomereasontheprogram/activitystopsworking,thenplease
follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit off.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries or
disconnecting the adaptor.
3. Lettheunitstandfor afewminutes,thenreplacethebatteries
or reconnect the adaptor.
4. Turn the unit on. The unit will now be ready to play again.
If the problem persists, please call our Consumer Services
Department and a service representative will be happy to help
you.

TO BEGIN PLAY
1. Switch the On/Off/Mode Switch to
the Talking position ( ) or the
Music position ( ) and the LITTLE
SMARTSing’n Smile PalsTM willplay
a short tune and the lights will flash.
2. Press any button to begin play.
3. To adjust the volume, slide the
Volume Switch up for high volume
( )ordown for low volume( ).
The Volume Switch is located on the
bottom of the unit.
4. To turn the unit off, switch the On/Off/
Mode Switch to the off position ( ).

ACTIVITIES
Talking Mode
1. SwitchtheOn/Off/ModeSwitch tothe
Talking position ( ) and you will
hear a short tune and the lights will
flash.
2. PressorpushanAnimal Button. You
will hear the animal identified and it's
soundeffect. Thelightswillflashalong
with the sound.
3. PressaNumber/Shape Button. You
willhearthecolorandshapeidentified.
The lights will flash along with the
voice.

4. PressaKeyboard/Letterkey. Youwill
hear the letter identified. The Melody
Button willflashalongwiththesound.
5. Press the Melody Button. You will
hear one of the four melodies.
Press the Melody Button again and
you will hear a different melody. The
light will flash in time to the music.
There are four melodies:
- London Bridge
-Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
- Three Blind Mice
- Row, Row, Row Your Boat
6. Turnthe Melody Roller Ball tocontrol
thespeedofamelodyandtoenhance
baby’s understanding of cause and
effect. The lights will flash along with
the music.

Music Mode
1. SwitchtheOn/Off/Mode Switch tothe
Musicposition( )and youwillhear
a short tune and the lights will flash.
2. PressorpushanAnimal Button. You
will hear the melody being “sung”with
the animal’s sound effect. The lights
will flash in time to the music.
3. Press a Number/Shape Button. You
will hear the number identified. Then
the animal’s sound effect will play the
same number of times as the number
buttonthatwaspressed. Also,thelight
will flash the same number of times to
reinforce counting.
PressaNumber/Shape Button while
a melody is playing. You will hear the
same response without the number
identification.

4. PressaKeyboard/Letterkey. Youwill
hear one music note per key. The
Melody Button willflashintimetothe
music.
5. Press the Melody Button. You will
hear one of the four melodies. Press
theMelody Button againandyouwill
hearadifferent melody. The lights will
flash in time to the music.
6. TurntheMelody Roller Ball tocontrol
the speed of a melody. The lights will
flash along with the melody.
Remember: the faster the ball is
turned, the faster the melody will play.
Likewise, the slower that the ball is
turned,theslowerthemelodywillplay.
