1. Square off tubing to proper length.
1a. Insert FostaPex tubing into prep tool. Push and turn tool until no more resistance is felt and tool spins freely.
2. Slide press sleeve fully over end of tubing.
3. Insert press tting into tubing and engage fully.
4. Check full tubing insertion at view hole of sleeve.
5. Engage press tool perpendicular over press sleeve and close tool jaws.
6. Start tool ratchet until automatic tool release occurs at proper compression force.
7. WARNING: The connection is not leakproof when tool has been opened by emergency release. Connec-
tion must be remade using a new press sleeve.

1. Cut copper pipe at right angles (using pipe cutter or ne-toothed steel saw).
2. Deburr pipe on the inside and outside.
3. Check seal for correct t. Use no oil or lubricants. Only ProPress seals are to be used.
4. While turning slightly, slide press tting onto the pipe until it stops.
5. Mark insertion depth.
6. Insert the appropriate jaw into the pressing tool and push in the holding pin until it locks into place.
7. Open the jaw and place at right angles on the tting. Check insertion depth.
8. Start pressing process and hold the trigger until the jaw has engaged the tting.
9. After pressing, the jaw can be opened again.
10. Battery-powered tool: Insert the appropriate jaw into the tool and secure with the holding pin. Rotate tool head into desired
position.
11. Open the jaw and place on the press tting at right angles. Check insertion depth, start pressing process and hold the trigger
until the jaw has engaged the tting.
12. On completion of the pressing process, the jaw can be opened again.
SC Feature:
For ProPress ½” to 2” dimensions the Smart Connect
(SC) feature is a special indentation in the inside surface
of the tting near the sealing element. This indentation
assures leakage of liquids and/or gases from inside the
system past the sealing element. The indentation is
removed during the pressing process creating a leak free
permanent connection. The function of the feature is to
provide identication of connections which have not been
pressed prior to putting the system into operation.
The function of the SC feature is carried out by pressurizing the tubing system.
The SC feature must be tested within a pressure range of a minimum of 15
PSI and a maximum pressure of 85 PSI.
The SC feature test is not a substitute for local code required pressure testing
of the tubing system. The nal tubing system pressure test is to be carried out
in accordance with local codes.
