The installation, adjustment, service, and maintenance of
this equipment must be performed by a licensed
professional heating contractor.

Failure to do so renders warranty null and void.
Advice to owner
Once work is complete, the heating contractor must
familiarize the system operator/ultimate owner with all
equipment, as well as safety precautions/requirements,
shut-down procedure, and the need for professional
service at least once per year.

Approvals
Viessmann boilers, burners and controls are approved for
sale in North America by CSA International.
Codes
The installation of this unit shall be in accordance with local
codes. In the absence of local codes, use:
CSA C22.1 Part 1 and/or local codes in Canada
National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70 in the U.S.
Always use latest editions of codes.
Please carefully read this manual prior to attempting
installation. Any warranty is null and void if these
instructions are not followed.
For information regarding other Viessmann System
Technology componentry, please reference documentation
of the respective product.
We offer frequent installation and service seminars to
familiarize our partners with our products. Please inquire.
Working on the equipment
The installation, adjustment, service, and maintenance of
this product must be done by a licensed professional
heating contractor who is qualified and experienced in the
installation, service, and maintenance of hot water boilers.
There are no user serviceable parts on the boiler, burner, or
control.
Ensure main power supply to equipment, the heating
system, and all external controls has been deactivated.
Close main oil or gas supply valve. Take precautions in both
instances to avoid accidental activation of power during
service work.
The completeness and functionality of field supplied
electrical controls and components must be verified by the
heating contractor. These include low water cut-offs, flow
switches (if used), staging controls, pumps, motorized
valves, air vents, thermostats, etc.

Important regulatory and installation requirements
Power supply
Install power supply in accordance with the regulations of
the authorities having jurisdiction or, in the absence of such
requirements, in accordance with National Codes.
Viessmann recommends the installation of a disconnect
switch to the 120 VAC power supply outside of the boiler
room. The installer must provide maximum 15 A
overcurrent protection for the 120 VAC power supply (fuse
or circuit breaker).
Working with an open control
No static discharge to the internal componentry must ever
occur when working with opened control equipment.

Introductory information
Initial start-up
The initial start-up and matching of the control unit to local
conditions and the structural characteristics of the building
must be carried out by your heating contractor.
Control unit factory default settings
The control unit is preset at the factory for standard
operation:
Between 06:00 and 22:00 h, space heating operates at
normal room temperature.
Between 22:00 and 06:00 h, space heating with reduced
room temperature (set to 3ºC / 37ºF, frost
protection).
Weekday and time (CET) were set up in the factory.
Daylight saving time is automatic.
You may change the factory default settings in accordance
with personal requirements.
Please note:
All data is saved in case of power failure.

You can change all settings for your heating circuit centrally at the control unit.
You may also make some adjustments on the remote control unit, if your system is equipped with a Vitotrol 200 remote
control (see separate operating instructions).

Start-up/shutdown
Control unit start-up
1. Turn power supply ON.
Turn on breaker or main disconnect supplying 120 VAC
to unit.
2. Push ON/OFF button to turn power ON. After a short
time, the supply temperature is displayed.
Your control unit and, if installed, your remote control
unit are now ready to operate.
Control unit shutdown
If you intend shutting down your control unit for a while, e.g. during a summer holiday, set the heating circuits to standby
(see page 8).
Please note:
The heating circuit pump starts automatically every 24 hours for a short time to prevent pump damage.
If you do not want to use the heating circuit, you should shut down the control unit.
1. Push ON/OFF button to turn power OFF.
2. Isolate the system from the power supply.
Turn off breaker or main disconnect supplying 120 VAC
to unit.
Please note that the system is no longer frost protected.

Starting the heating circuit
Press r;
Space heating
Space heating with normal or reduced room
temperature (frost protection) according to the
programmed times.
Basic setting:
From 06:00 to 22:00 h normal room temperature,
otherwise reduced room temperature.
Heating circuit frost protection active.
Shutting down the heating circuit
Press ;
Standby mode
No space heating.
Heating circuit frost protection active.
Please note:
The heating circuit pump starts automatically every

Room temperature
Setting heating circuit time program
Observe the following 3 points if you want to activate space heating.
1. Heating rmust be selected for the heating circuit.
2. Normal room temperature
(for day) ts and reduced room temperature (for
night) tm can be selected for the heating circuit (see
below).
3. When your heating circuit operates with normal or
reduced room temperature depends on the programmed
times (four possible time cycles) for the respective day.
If no time cycles are selected, space heating will be
active for the whole day at reduced room temperature.
If one or more time cycles are selected, space heating
will be active for those times with normal room
temperature.
For changing programmed times, see below.
Setting a normal room temperature
Set the desired temperature for the normal room
temperature with rotary selector ts.
Setting a reduced room temperature
Press the following keys:
1. tm for reduced room temperature;the currently set
temperature will flash.
2. /for the desired value.
3. as confirmation; the temperature no longer flashes
and is now saved.
Setting switching times (timer program)
4 time cycles:
For space heating, up to four changes between normal and
reduced room temperature can be programmed.
At the factory, time cycle 1 from 06:00 to 22:00 h is set
for every weekday i.e. during that time, all rooms are
heated to the normal room temperature.
You can select identical time programs for all weekdays or
individual programs for each weekday.
When setting time programs please note that your heating
system requires some time to heat the rooms to the desired
temperature.

For a sequence of steps to delete a time cycle (see
page 10).

Room temperature
Setting a permanent room temperature (continued)
Press the following keys:
1. ur for time program.
Please note:
If you want to terminate the time programming
prematurely, press key ur again.
2. /to below all weekdays (1 to 7) arrows flash if
you want to set the same time cycles for every
weekday
or
one arrow flashes below the desired weekday if
you want to set alternative time cycles for the
displayed weekday.
Please note:
If different time cycles are set for individual weekdays,
and if you want to set up identical time cycles for all
weekdays, press when the arrows flash below every
weekday.
All time cycles are returned to their original condition.
3. for confirmation; time cycle 1 will then be
displayed.
Press if you want to skip a time cycle.
4. for confirmation; the time cycle start point then
flashes.
5./for time cycle start point.
6. for confirmation; the time cycle end point then
flashes.
7. /for time cycle end point.
8for confirmation; the next time cycle is then
displayed.
9. Proceed for the setting up of the start and end of time
cycles 2 to 4 as described under steps 5 to 8.
Press the following keys if you want to delete a time cycle:
1. ur for time program.
2. until the time cycle end point to be deleted
flashes.
3. until ”- -:- -” for the end time point is displayed.
4. for confirmation, until the supply temperature is
displayed.
