1SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Before using the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette for the first time, please read this entire operating
manual carefully and keep this instruction manual for future reference. To guarantee problem free, safe
operation, it is essential to observe the following points:
1.1 Operation Safety Precautions
When using infectious, radioactive, toxic and other solutions, which may pose health risks, please
observe appropriate safety precautions.
Do not use the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette in a potentially explosive environment or with
potentially explosive chemicals.
When using organic solvents or corrosive chemicals, please check their compatibility with the pipette
tips and the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette.
Repair should be carried out by PEQLAB’s authorized service personnel only.
Contact PEQLAB for information on authorized service options.
Use original spare parts and accessories only.
1.2 Battery Safety
The peqPETTE eType electronic pipettes operate on a small but powerful Lithium-ion battery. Misuse or
abuse of the Lithium-ion battery may cause damage or injury through fire, electric shock, or chemical
leakage. Please read and understand all warnings before using the battery.
1. When storing the battery, do not allow it to come into contact with any metallic surfaces.
2. Do not incinerate the Lithium battery or expose it to excessive heat.
3. Do not short-circuit, puncture, crush, disassemble, damage, force over-discharge (reversal) or
modify the battery.
4. Do not expose the battery to water or moisture.
5. Do not drop or subject the battery to strong impacts.
6. Only use the battery specified in this manual.
7. Only use the specified battery charging unit or DC-in jack to charge the battery.
8. Do not use a leaking battery.
9. If charging is not completed within the specified time period, unplug the charger and
discontinue charging immediately.
10. The charger and battery temperature rises with extended periods of use. Care should be taken
to avoid burns.
11. Burns may result if the battery is removed immediately after extended periods of use.
12. If fluid from the battery enters your eye, immediately rinse the eye with plenty of fresh water and
contact a doctor. If fluid from the battery makes contact with your skin or clothing, wash the
area thoroughly with water.

peqPETTE eType electronic pipettes feature an accurate and efficient, as well as ergonomic and light-
weight design. Researchers can program these state-of-the-art products to conduct different pipetting
tasks. More accurate and comfortable pipetting can be easily achieved without any concern of finger
stress or injury.

2.4 Warranty
PEQLAB guarantees that the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette you have received has been thoroughly
tested and meets its published specification.
However, immediately upon arrival, please check carefully that the shipment is complete and has not
been damaged in transit. For missing parts or to report any kind of damage, please contact PEQLAB
(see 'TECHNICAL SUPPORT’). Please retain all packaging materials until the delivery has been
completely checked since this will speed up the return of goods if required and reduce environmental
impact. Any form of returns, replacements or credit notes must be agreed in advance by PEQLAB.
The peqPETTE eType has been subjected to thorough testing and quality control. In the unlikely event of
a manufacturing fault, our two year warranty (from the date of delivery) covers the peqPETTE eType.
This warranty becomes invalid in the case of incorrect operation, use of non-standard spare parts or
accessories and unauthorized modifications. The warranty does not cover defects caused by excessive
wear and tear or damage due to shipping, accident, abuse, misuse, problems with electrical power, or
usage not in accordance with product instructions, or if other than original spare parts supplied by the
manufacturer have been used. This warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged by
accident, abuse, misuse, or misapplication, or from ordinary wear and tear.
PEQLAB reserves the right to make technical modifications. For your protection, items being returned
must be insured against possible damage or loss. This warranty shall be limited to the replacement of
defective products. For research use only. Not intended for any animal or human therapeutic or
diagnostic use.

3GETTING STARTED
3.1 Unpacking the peqPETTE eType
Open the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette package and confirm that all items are included:
-Electronic pipette unit
-Wall hanger and accessories
-Battery
-AC-DC power adaptor
-Operation manual
Note:
1. If there are any items missing, damaged, or not according to your order, please contact your distributor or sales
representatives for replacement immediately.
2. Please charge the battery before first-time operation.
3.2 Battery installation guide
Remove the battery cover by pressing the battery cover latch (see Figure 1) and move the cover
outward. Plug in the battery connector and insert the battery (see Figure 2). Please consider the notes
regarding correct connection and correct wire arrangement shown in figure 3 and 4.
Close the cover of the battery compartment. Press the RESET button to power on and the peqPETTE
eType electronic pipette will automatically carry out a calibration routine.

Note: After a charged battery is inserted, the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette will automatically carry out a
calibration routine.
3.3 Charging the Battery
Attach the included AC-DC Power Adapter to the Pipette to charge the battery.
Insert the battery into the battery compartment. Insert the DC-in plug of the power adaptor into the DC-
in jack (see Figure 5). Connect the power plug of the power adaptor with the external power source.
Connecting the power plug before inserting the battery will inactivate the charging process. The
indication bar inside battery symbol will blink during the charging process. When the battery is
fully charged ( ), the blinking will stop and the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette will beep once to
remind the user.
Note:
1.
peqPETTE eType electronic pipettes can be used during charging.
2.
Please do not over-charge the battery for a long period of time.
3.
Do not insert or remove the battery during the charging process, it may cause battery or PCBA damage.
3.4 Start Pipetting
There is no power On/Off button on the peqPETTE eType electronic pipettes. Once users insert the fully-
charged battery, the pipette will be switched on. It will perform a calibration routine and switch on the
LCD display as in Figure 10. Press any keypad button or the PLUNGER button to enter the function
mode selection. The peqPETTE eType electronic pipette will be automatically powered off and enter
sleeping mode, if it’s not in use for more than 10 minutes.
Note: In sleeping mode, if the DC-in plug of power adaptor is connected to the pipette, the LCD display will show
battery charging symbol. On the contrast, the LCD display will show nothing.

Select the desired function mode and settings (refer to the following chapters: 6 - 11) before pipetting.
After the initial set-up, attach the correct-sized tips to the cones of the pipette before operation.

The cones of the peqPETTE eType electronic pipette are designed to fit a wide variety of manufacturers
pipette tips. However, the published accuracy and precision specifications for the peqPETTE eType
electronic pipettes are guaranteed only when using PEQLAB tips. Contact PEQLAB for pipette tip
ordering information.
3.5 Manual Blow-out Operation
The automatic blow-out function, in different pipetting modes, simulates the blow-out function in manual
pipettes. With the Blow-out function selected, the user can press the PLUNGER button once to dispense
the liquid and the piston will travel an extra distance to blow out any remaining liquid. The piston then
will pause and return to its starting position. Alternatively the user can press and hold the PLUNGER
button to dispense. The piston will travel the extra distance to blow out remaining liquid and remain in
that position until the plunger is released. Only when the PLUNGER button is released, the piston will
return back to its starting position.
3.6 Hanger Installation
The peqPETTE eType electronic pipette hanger, which is included with the delivery scope, can be
attached to a shelf or counter using the sticker as shown in Figure 7. The finger rest of the peqPETTE
eType electronic pipette locks into the hanger and keeps the pipette in a vertical position.
