Safety Notes
WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 751
AS-Interface Components IP67
1.4 Safety Notes
Attention
Switch off the system prior to working on bus modules!
In the event of deformed contacts, the module in question is to be replaced, as
its functionality can no longer be ensured on a long-term basis.
The components are not resistant against materials having seeping and
insulating properties. Belonging to this group of materials is: e.g. aerosols,
silicones, triglycerides (found in some hand creams).
If it cannot be ruled out that these materials appear in the component
environment, then additional measures are to be taken:
- handling of the components only with clean tools and materials.
Attention
Cleaning of soiled contacts may only be done with ethyl alcohol and leather
cloths. Thereby, the ESD information is to be regarded.
Do not use any contact spray. The spray may impair the functioning of the
contact area.
Attention
Unused connection sockets must be sealed with filler plugs in order to keep
IP67 degree of protection!
1.5 Scope
This manual describes the Digital Input Module 751-3001
AS-Interface Module 4IN 24V Single of the modular WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM
751.
Handling, assembly and start-up are described in the manual of the Fieldbus
Coupler. Therefore this documentation is valid only in the connection with the
appropriate manual.

2.1.1.2 Description
The AS-Interface module 751-3001 is an economical solution for a fieldbus-
independent and flexible connection of actuators and sensors from the field
and the control cabinet. The module is in accordance with AS-Interface
specification V.3.0.
The module works in standard address area and can be set to one of 31
addresses ranging from 1 ... 31.
The voltage for the sensors is supplied via the AS-Interface cable and is short
circuit protected.
The AS-Interface module 751-3001 provides 4 digital 24 V inputs.
The sensors are connected using M12x1 round plugs. The AS-Interface cable
can be connected directly.
LEDs indicate the status of inputs and outputs, the AS-Interface and actuator
supply as well as a short circuit or overload condition.

2.1.1.3 Connectors
2.1.1.3.1 AS-Interface Cable
The AS Interface cable is connected using piercing technology.
When assembling the upper part, contacts are pressed into the cable, which is
located in the ground plate, making the electrical contact.
The functional earth contact is also made during assembly of the upper part.
2.1.1.3.2 Sensor Connectors
Sensor connections are 5-pole sockets for M12x1 round plugs.
When using angled connectors, the socket design provides a connecting angle
of 45° (top left or top right) for the connecting cable.
The following table shows the pin assignment of the sockets.

IN 1/3 IN 2/4 5 Functional earth FE
Pin 5 of the sockets makes connection to functional earth. Four-pole plugs
without functional earth or 5-pole plugs with functional earth may be
connected.
Pin 2 of the IN 1 or the IN 3 socket is connected with Pin 4 of the IN 2 or IN 4
socket. This allows the connection of 2-channel sensors with the IN 1 or IN 3
socket. The IN 2 or IN 4 socket will then remain unconnected.
Warning
Unused sensor connections must be sealed with protective caps!
2.1.1.3.3 Programming Connector
The PGM connection is the programming connector. It is a plug for a DC
socket, which is compatible with all popular programming adapters, for
example Pepperl+ Fuchs VAZ-PK-1.5M-V1-G.
Please note manufacturer documentation for the operation of the programming
device.

1. Mount ground plate on an even surface (machine frame or mounting plate)
using sufficiently long M4 cheese-head screws.
2. Place the cables in the cutouts that are marked for this purpose. Make sure
that the cables engage behind the locking latch. For modules with unused
AUX socket, insert the enclosed blanking cap to seal the cable entry.
3. Fix the upper part in the snap-in position of the ground plate.
4. Push the upper part onto the ground plate. Tighten screws of the upper part
with a tightening torque of 0.9N m. Electrical contact with the conductors
is made automatically.

Attention
Operating an AS-Interface network with components that do not comply with
the AS-Interface specification may lead to malfunctions or restrictions.
Please note the AS interface master manual and the manual for the start-up
tool WAGO-I/O-CHECK 2 (759-302) for start-up and diagnosis of the AS
interface slaves with AS interface master 750-655 from the WAGO-I/O-
