backitsproductswheredefectsappearwithinthewarranty
period.Insomecircumstances,Waratahalsoprovides
eldimprovements,oftenwithoutchargetothecustomer,
eveniftheproductisoutofwarranty.Iftheequipmentis
abused,ormodiedtochangeitsperformancebeyondthe
originalfactoryspecications,thewarrantywillbecome
voidandeldimprovementsmaybedenied.

Waratahwarrantseachnewattachmenttobefree
offailureresultingfromdefectivematerialand/or
workmanship,underproperuseandserviceforaperiodof
one(1)yearortwothousand(2000)hours,whicheverrst
occurs,followingthedateofdeliveryoftheattachmentto
theoriginalretailcustomer(user).
Inordertovalidatethiswarranty:allprescribed
pre-deliveryandstart-upinspectionsmustbecomplete;a
complete,signed,copyoftheWarrantyRegistrationForm
mustbesubmittedtothesellingWaratahDistribution
Centre(WDC).
Attachmentsmayonlybeusedfortheirdesignated
purpose,asdenedinWaratah’stechnicalandmarketing
publications.
Waratah’ssoleobligationunderthiswarrantyislimitedto
therepairorreplacement,withoutcharge,atWaratah’s
warehouse,oranapprovedrepairshop.Whereanyparts
areidentiedasdefectiveinmaterialorworkmanship,the
usermustpre-payanyreturnfreightcosts.
Waratahisnotresponsibleforanycostsassociatedwith
thedeliveryoftheattachmenttoanauthorisedrepair
shop,noranycostsassociatedwiththedeliveryofparts
tomaketherepairs.
Thiswarranty,initsentirety,doesnotcovermaintenance
itemsusedinservicingWaratahproducts,whichinclude,
butarenotlimitedto:feedrollers;lters;lubricating
grease;andoils.
Partsnotcoveredbythiswarrantyincludethose
showingevidenceof:neglect;overload;abuse;accident;
inadequatemaintenance;orunauthorisedalteration.
Thiswarrantyshallbevoidifrepairsoralterationsto
aWaratahattachmenthavebeenmadebypersonsor
rmsnotspecicallyapprovedbyWaratahsoasto,in
Waratah’sopinion,adverselyaffecttheattachment’s
performanceorreliabilityinanyway.
Theinstallationofanyproductorattachmentnot
specicallyapprovedbyWaratah,orfailuretouseonly
Waratah-approvedreplacementparts,shallalsovoidthis
warranty.
LiabilityorobligationonthepartofWaratahfordamages,
whethergeneral,special,orfornegligence,andexpressly
includinganyincidentalandconsequentialdamages,
isherebydisclaimed.Waratah’sobligationtorepairor
replaceshallbethelimitofitsliabilityunderthiswarranty
andthesoleandexclusiverightandremedyoftheuser.
Thiswarrantyisexpresslyinlieuofallotherwarranties,
expressedorimpliedinwrittenororalform,including,
withoutlimitation,anyimpliedwarrantiesoftnessfora
particularpurposeorofmerchantability.
Thiswarrantymaynotbechanged,altered,ormodiedin
anyway,exceptinwritingbyWaratah.
Avoidunauthorisedmachinemodications
ChangesofanykindtothisWaratahproduct,including
thettingofanyunauthorisedattachments,couldaffect
theintegrityoftheproduct,oritsabilitytoperformas
designedorintended.
NochangesshouldbemadetoanyWaratahproduct,
includingdeletionsoradditions,otherthanoptions
approvedbyWaratah,whicharettedinamanner
approvedbytheWaratahfactory.
Optionsorchangesareonlyofciallyapprovedinthe
followingform:
•Standardoptionsforthatproductshownorlistedon
acurrent,Waratah-produced:printedspecications
sheet;pricelist;partsmanual;orotherproductlitreature.
•Nootherpersonisauthorisedtogivesuchapproval.
Waratahdisclaimsresponsibilityforanysituationarising
asaresultofanyunauthorisedchangetoitsproduct,such
astheuseofanon-approvedsawbarorchain-tensioner
installedonaWaratahharvesterhead.Ifanypersonor
organisationmodies,orcontributesinanywaytoan
unauthorisedmodication,thepersonororganisationwill
bedeemedtohaveassumedtheriskinvolvedwithsuch
modication,andmaybedeemednegligentincreatinga
dangeroussituationresultingfromsuchaction.
WherechangesaremadewithoutWaratah’sofcial
approval,andWaratahbecomesinvolvedinasuitarising
outofsuchachange,Waratahwillprotectitsinterestby
takingappropriateaction.
Failuretoadheretothispolicynulliesandvoidsthe
product’swarranty,aswellasthecerticationonanysafety
itemsinstalledonthemodiedmachineorattachment.
Non-approvedproductchangesalsonullifywarranties
giventoWaratahbyitscomponentmanufacturers.

necessarytoreplacethefrontwindowwitha
windowcapableofwithstandingsignicant
impacts.Onlyallowqualied,fully-trained
personneltooperatethisfellinghead.
TheFL85fellingheadhasacontinuousrotationfeature;
thisfeaturemayresultindebrisandforeignobjectsbeing
directedtowardstheoperators'cab.
Duetoitscontinuousrotationcapability,itisextremely
importantallpersonnelfollowallsafetyprecautionsduring
machineoperation,inspection,maintenance,and/or
servicing.
IMPORTANT:Usecautionwhenmanoeuvringthe
fellingheadclosetothecarrier;failingto
exercisecautionmayresultindamagetothe
carrierand/orthefellinghead.

Fellingheadmanoeuvrescancausethefellingheadto
makecontactwiththetrack,increasingtheriskofserious
injuryand/orequipmentdamage.
IMPORTANT:Thefellingheadcanfallunpredictably
whentheengineisshutdown.Intheevent
youcannotrestarttheengine,lowerthefelling
headtothegroundandreleasethetreesfrom
thegrapplearmsbeforeexitingthecab.DO
NOTexitthecabandapproachthefellinghead
untilisloweredtothegroundandanytrapped
hydraulicpressurehasbeenreleased.
Iftheengineshutsdownwiththefellingheadnotinthe
parkingposition,restarttheengineandpositionthefelling
headonthegroundinastabilisedposition.Alwayspark
thecarriersothefellingheadisonlevelgroundbefore
turningtheengineOFFandexitingtheoperator'scab.

IMPORTANT:Thefellingheadcanfallunpredictably
whentheengineisshutdown.Intheeventyou
cannotrestarttheengine,lowerthefellinghead
tothegroundandreleasethetreesfromthe
grapplearmsbeforeexitingthecab.DONOT
exitthecabandapproachthefellingheaduntil
thefellingheadisloweredtothegroundandany
trappedhydraulicpressurehasbeenreleased.
Whenstartinganoperationinanewlocationdetermine
theworkzone.
Chooseanagreedworkingprocedureamongtheteam
workingwiththefellinghead:DONOTchangethis
procedurewithoutfurtherdiscussion.
Beforeeachperiodofoperation,ensureallsafety
equipment,instruments,andcontrolshavebeenchecked
forfunctionality,toensuretheyareworkingcorrectly.
Duringoperation,ensureyoukeepallwindowsanddoors
closed.
Ifsomeoneentersthesafetyzone,safelystopthefelling
headimmediately.
Ensureno-onestandsinthecuttingdirectionofthesaw
chain.Thechainshothazardzoneisapproximately15
degreestowardstherearofthesprocketandinfrontof
thebar-tip.Keepallpersonnel90meters(300feet)away
fromthefellingheadduringtreefellingoperations.
Ensuretheworkzoneiscompletelyclearofallpersonnel
beforefellingatreeorprocessingastem.
Whilelocalsafetyregulationsmayvary,checkwiththe
localauthoritiestoensureyouadheretoalllocalsafety
regulations.
Anticipateasafetyzoneofatleast5meters(16feet)
betweenpowerlinesandthenearestpointofcontactof
thefellinghead.
Whenworkinginarestrictedarea,checkforinterference
withcylinderrods,hydraulichoses,electricalcables,etc.
Alwayslowerthefellingheadanditsloadtotheground;
leavingaloadsuspendedmayresultininjuryordeath.
Passingaloadoveranothervehicle,evenifitappears
empty,maycauseinjurytosomeoneoutoftheoperator's
lineofsight.
IMPORTANT:Usecautionwhenmanoeuvringthe
fellingheadclosetothecarrier;failingto
dosomayresultindamagetothecarrier
and/orfellinghead.
Alwaysallowenoughdistancebetweenthestemandthe
fellingheadcab.
Whenremovingalogfromastack,avoidmakingsudden
movements,whichcouldcausedamagetotheheadwhen
shiftingormovingstackedlogs.Suchmovementsmay
damagethefellingheadandcanbecostlyintermsof
partsanddown-time.Thismayalsoconstituteapotential
sourceofinjury.
Whenworkingatnight,ensuretheworkareais
adequatelylit.Usearecognisedsafetylightwithawire
cage-protectedbulb.
Inspectthefellingheaddailyforanysignsofdamage,
unusualwear,fatiguecracks,orfaultyoperation.
Inspecttheconditionofthesawchainandsawbarforsigns
ofexcessivewearordamagedaily;performsuchchecks
immediatelyafterhittingarockorotherforeignmaterial.

Donotstandorworkinthecuttingdirectionofthe
chain-sawwhilethemachineisrunning.Intheeventof
achainlinkbreaking,thechaincanyoffthesawbarat
highspeed.Thechainshothazardzoneisapproximately
15-degreestowardstherearofthesprocketandinfront
ofthebar-tip.
Duringtreefellingoperations,keepallpersonnel90
metres(300feet)awayfromthefellinghead.
Asservicingthefellingheadwhiletheengineisrunning
isextremelyhazardous,ensureyouturnoffthecarrier’s

sprocketofthecuttingsystem.Sawchainshotpieces
typicallytravelwithin15degreesoneithersideofthe
sawbarplane.
Asawchainshotconsistsoftwobreaksinasawchain.
First,thesawchainloopbreaks,andformstwoends.One
endmovespastthesawchaindrivesprocketandisrapidly
acceleratedduetoawhip-likemotionofthesawchainend.
The"whipaction"causesasecondbreakinthesawchain,
ejectingpiecesofthecuttingsawchainathighspeed.
Toreducetheoccurrenceofsawchainshot:
•Donotexceedmaximumsawchainspeed
recommendedbysawmanufacturer.
•Inspectsawchainandcuttingsystemfrequently.
Replacedullsawchain.Followsawchain
manufacturer’srecommendationsforsawchaintension

chainshothazardzonewhensawchainisinmotion.
•Allmachinesinsawchainshothazardzonemustbe
ttedwithappropriateguards,shields,andwindowsto
protectoperatorandoperatorstructuresinaccordance
withsafetystandardsandregulationsforforestry
operations.
•Impactresistantpolycarbonatewindowsare
recommended.
•Inspecttheoperator’scabwindowsregularlyandafter
anyimpact.Replaceifdamaged,cloudy,orhasvisible
microcrackingorcrazing.
•Inspectsawchainshotguard(ifequipped)eachtime
thesawchainisreplaced.Replacesawchainshot
guardifitismissingordamaged.
