6EN Device Description
2 Device Description
2.1 Intended purpose
ULM CASE I is used to hold and transport emergency
medical devices, instruments, medicines, bandages and
other parts.
2.2 Functional description
ULM CASE I has been perfectly equipped for each time
of use. The interior of the case bottom can be set up
with dividers to t your specic needs. Accessories, such
as ampoule holders, tube holders and belts for oxygen
cylinders provide further customization potential.
ULM CASE I can also be equipped with individual holders
for the ventilation device MEDUMAT and the OMNIVAC
suction system.

3 Safety Instructions
Please note the following for your own safety and that of
your patients:
• Please follow the instructions in this User’s Manual.
They are a part of the case and therefore must be
available at all times.
• Prerequisites for use of this case include thorough
knowledge and observation of this User’s Manual.
• The case is intended only for the described purpose.
• If third-party items are used, functional failures may
occur and tness for use may be restricted. Please
note that in such cases, any claim under warranty
and liability will be voided if neither the accessories
nor genuine replacement parts recommended in the
instructions for use are used.
• Be sure that spilled liquids (for example, from ampoules)
are cleaned up immediately. Observe the warning and
disposal regulations of the manufacturers involved.
• To prevent infection or bacterial contamination, ob-
serve the instructions in Section “6 Hygiene prepara-
tion” on page 11.
• If the case is equipped with oxygen cylinders and
other devices, be sure to observe the accompanying
User’s Manuals and special instructions.
• Protect the oxygen cylinders from accidents.
• Keep the devices free from oil and grease.
• Make sure you wash your hands before handling
oxygen cylinders.
• When assembling the parts and when changing cylinders,
turn all screws by hand. Do not in any event use tools.
• Always open the cylinder valve slowly.
• Smoking and open ames are strictly forbidden in the
vicinity of oxygen-related equipment.
• Make sure you always have adequately lled oxygen
cylinders. It is recommended that you keep a full
oxygen cylinder in reserve.

4 Assembly
4.1 Assembly of wall mounting
If you would like to mount the case on the wall of a
vehicle, use wall mounting WM 15370 (see Section “9
Supply Schedule” on page 14).
If you would like to mount the case on the wall of a buil-
ding, use the appropriate wall mounting WM 15731 (see
Section “9 Supply Schedule” on page 14).
1. Mark the spots for the holes on the surface where
you want to fasten the case.
You can use the wall mounting as a stencil.
2. Drill the holes:
– in vehicles: with a drill bit of 3mm in diameter
– in buildings: with an appropriate bit for the requi-
red dowel.
3. Screw the wall mounting tightly into place.

5 Operation
5.1 Space Dividers
The interior of the case bottom can be separated as desi-
red with the space dividers (5, 12 and 14). See Illustration
1, Device Overview, for an example.
Observe the following when using the dividers:
• proper positioning as illustrated
• right-angle placement in the opposing grooves
• correct clicking-in of the snap elements
To remove a divider, press both circular snap elements
together (as shown) and lift the divider.
5.2 Tube Holders
The manufacturer has supplied tube holders 15 a) and
15 b) as sets with the fastening elements. You can fasten
the tube holders to any divider in the case bottom (see
illustration).
5.3 Ampoule Holders
The ampoule holders (19 and 20), delivered as a set with
the fastening elements or as replacement parts, can be
attached (as shown) to the desired spot on the inside of
the cover (2)).
Important!
Make sure that when you close the cover, no am-
poules are crushed by a divider or other equipment.

5.4 Inserting Oxygen Cylinders
Be sure to wash your hands before you insert or change
oxygen cylinders.
If you want to fasten an oxygen cylinder of 0.8 liters or
2.0 liters into the case bottom
(9), use accessory WM 15141, Set of two belts for
oxygen cylinders (17). Fasten the oxygen cylinder in the
oxygen cylinder compartment (7) as shown in the illustra-
tion. To fasten a 2.0-liter oxygen cylinder, use the outer
clamp (6) on the oor of the case. If you want to fasten
an 0.8-liter cylinder, use the middle and left clamps. Be
sure that you pull the belts tightly during assembly in
order to prevent the cylinders from slipping out of place.
5.5 MEDUMAT Holder
To fasten a MEDUMAT ventilation device into the case
bottom, use the holder for MEDUMAT (22). Click the ME-
DUMAT holder into place in the case bottom as shown
in the illustration. Then place the MEDUMAT so that the
lower grid on the device catches in the gap in the holder.
Press the MEDUMAT up into the holder until you hear it
click into place.

5.6 OMNIVAC holder
To fasten the OMNIVAC secretion pump into the case
bottom, use the holder for the OMNIVAC (23). Click the
holder into the case bottom as shown in the illustration.
If the distance between the case and the patient is too
great, it may be necessary to remove the collection con-
tainer from the holder and take advantage of the length
of the extension hose.
Important
Always hold the collection container upright. You can
prevent activation of the overow protection and thus
avoid interrupting suction activity.
6 Hygiene preparation
Clean the inside and outside of the case simply by wiping
with disinfectant. Recommended disinfectant:
• terralin® protect. See also the instructions for use for
the disinfectant used. It is recommended that suitable
gloves (e.g. household or disposable gloves) are used
for disinfecting.
Take all the devices and materials out of the case.
If your case is equipped with an oxygen cylinder, the ex-
ternal ttings have to be cleaned. For this purpose, use a
clean, dry cloth or a cloth slightly dampened with water.
Equipment components
Follow instructions for cleaning, disinfecting or, if requi-
red, sterilizing in the accompanying directions.
Important:
When cleaning the equip-
ment, do not use any clea-
ning product that contains
alcohol. Fire hazard!

12 EN Functional Test
7 Functional Test
Carry out a functional test of the case after each use (or
at least every two years if the case is not used). If you
discover an error during the test, you are not permitted
to use the emergency case again until the error has been
resolved.
Follow these instructions for a functional test:
1. Make sure the inserts, cover, ampoule holders, case
corners and the handle are not damaged.
2. Check that the case locks are easy to open and close.
3. Make sure the case hinges and cover can be moved
easily and are correctly secured.
Replace defective parts.
8 Maintenance
8.1 Intervals
The emergency cases are maintenance-free. Observe
the intervals for regular functional tests (see Section “7
Functional Test” on page 12).
We recommend allowing the manufacturer’s
(WEINMANN Emergency) expert personnel to carry out
maintenance and repairs.

8.2 Sending in parts
Risk of infection due to contaminated parts during
maintenance work!
The device, accessories and other parts may be contami-
nated and infect technicians with bacteria and viruses.
Parts sent in which are obviously contaminated will be
disposed of by WEINMANN Emergency or by technicians
authorized by WEINMANN Emergency, and the sender
charged for this.
⇒Clean and disinfect parts required for maintenance
work.
⇒Do not send in parts which are potentially
contaminated.

3. Send parts to WEINMANN Emergency, or to a
technician specically authorized by WEINMANN
Emergency.
8.3 Disposal
Do not dispose of the therapy device in domestic waste.
To dispose of the therapy device properly, contact an ap-
proved, certied electronics scrap dealer. You can obtain
the address from your Environment Ofcer or your local
authority. The device packaging (cardboard and inserts)
can be disposed of in paper recycling facilities.

manufacturer warranty on new original WEINMANN
Emergency products and any replacement part tted by
WEINMANN Emergency in accordance with the warran-
ty conditions applicable to the product in question and
in accordance with the warranty periods from date of
purchase as listed below. The warranty conditions can be
downloaded from www.weinmann-emergency.com on
the Internet. We can also send you the warranty condi-
tions on request.
