hat is blueCompact?
blueCompact is an electronic locking system which comprises a maximum
of 99 keys and 2 cylinders and readers. The main components of this
locking system are the app and an active electronic key which allow you
to activate, manage and program keys, cylinders and readers.
Operating systems, smartphone and blueCompact App versions
This manual is valid for the following versions of the
blueCompact App:
•Android: Version 2.6
•iOS: Version 2.6
Tip
With other versions of the blueCompact App,
some information and approaches may not apply
completely.
You need one of the following operating systems for the
blueCompact App:
•Android Version .0 or higher
•iOS Version 12 or higher
Smartphones must feature Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.
Tip
In order to use Bluetooth, location detection may
have to be activated or deactivated on some
devices depending on the manufacturer and model
of the smartphone.
Display of the app needs to be enhanced for use on tablet PCs.
The security measures of the manufacturer must not be bypassed (no
support for rooted or jailbreaked devices).

These instructions ensure safe handling of the blueCompact locking
system.
•Read the instructions before starting any work.
•Always comply with specifications such as operational and safety
instructions.
•Keep instructions in a safe place ready for future use.
•Also provide the instructions to the new owner if you pass on the
product.
•Make the instructions available to the qualified electrician for correct
installation, maintenance and cleaning of the reader.
•The images are provided to ensure basic understanding and may differ
from the actual version that you have.

Safety instructions in the operating instructions

•Fitting and dismounting of cylinders
•Handling smartphones and operating app interfaces
Qualified electricians for energy and building technology, who are
able to carry out the following work on electrical systems safely and

•Planning and connection of electrical systems based on circuit and
wiring diagrams
•Designing and routing cables and connecting electrical components
•Carrying out safety checks on electrical systems, components and

The qualified electrician is also familiar with the hazards associated with
electrical systems and is qualified in accordance with the European
standard EN 0110-1 or higher. The qualified electrician has at least three
years of professional experience in the installation of electronic locking
systems and alarm systems.

•The step-by-step instructions for the app explain the different
processes using images and texts, even without an Internet

Summer and winter time
A clock with time zones is built into the components (UTC clock =
Coordinated Universal Time). It automatically switches to summer and
winter time. The time zone depends on the time zone of the smartphone
on which the blueCompact App is installed.

Active keys feature a button (3) to activate cylinders, a battery and a LED
display (6). You can use the ring hole (1) to fasten the key to a key ring.
Tip
For a clear allocation of the keys in the app, a
Winkhaus UID is engraved on the tip of the key ( ).
This Winkhaus UID consists of the logo 4HOME and
a six-digit number.

Red flashing
Signals of LED display
This signal warns of a low battery in the active key.
The signal is activated for the following functions:
•Internal power function if there is only enough power for a few more
locking transactions.

•User key function if fewer than 1,000 locking transactions are possible.

arning
Hazard to persons due to malfunction in
emergency opening with an active key.
•Replace the battery of the active key following
this signal immediately to ensure that the door
does not fail to open or close in an emergency.

Blue flashing
This signal may indicate the following states:
•Active key has been activated using the button.
•Active key communicates with other components via Bluetooth.
LED display signals in power adapter mode
The power adapter mode allows cylinders to be locked using the internal
power function and is activated by pressing on the button for 2 seconds.

Yellow flashing
This signal may indicate the following states:
•Search for a cylinder which can be taught in
•Search for a cylinder on which you can perform an internal power
locking transaction

Green flashing
Key has been taught in and is awaiting connection to cylinder.
Red-yellow flashing
Error in communication with a passive key or cylinder. Repeat procedure.

Tip
An active key can be used in the same way as a
passive key (= user key). The button does not need
to be activated with the button to do so.

Prerequisites:
•Battery is sufficiently charged.
•The active key features the corresponding locking rights.

2. Lock cylinder.

Tip
If the cylinder battery is flat, the lock can be
operated using the battery in an active key.

Active keys with a low battery may not be able to
open or close cylinders with a flat battery.

Use internal power function
Operate the cylinder
1. Insert active key into the cylinder.
2. Activate active key by pressing on the button (2) for 2 seconds.
üThe LED display (3) on the active key lights up yellow and the lock
can be operated using the power in the battery (1) in the active key.
1.2.4 Use external power function
Tip
If the cylinder battery is flat, the lock can be
opened or closed using the battery in an active
key. If the key has no battery (= passive key), the
locking authorisations in the passive key can be
read using an active key. This can then open or
close the lock with the integrated battery within a
period of 20 seconds.
Prerequisites:
•You have a passive key with locking authorisation.
•You have an active key without locking authorisation.

1. Activate active key (4) by pressing on the button (3) for 2 seconds.
2. Connect active key (4) with the passive key (1) using adapter.
üDuring the read-out, the LED display (2) of the active key shines
yellow.
The locking authorisations of the passive key (1) are read when the
LED display (2) lights up green.

3. Insert active key (1) into the cylinder.
üThe LED display (3) of the active key (1) shines yellow and the
cylinder can be closed for 20 seconds with the energy of the battery
(2) of the active key (1).
After the 20 seconds have elapsed, the locking authorisation for the
cylinder has expired.

1.2. Master key
The Masterkey is always an active key which you can configure as a
Masterkey using the app.
The Masterkey features all the functions of an active key and can also
integrate active and passive keys and cylinders into the locking system.
It can also identify them, read information and display the battery status
of any battery.
The Masterkey holds all information about the locking system in its
memory. You can view this information in the app.
You may only configure one Masterkey per locking system.
The Masterkey logs off automatically from the blueCompact App after
4 minutes of inactivity.

You can use the Masterkey to import passive keys into the system and
then manage them in the app.
A transponder is integrated into the tip of the key (3). This transponder
holds the locking authorisations for specific cylinders. You can only use
passive keys to lock cylinders for which they have locking authorisations.
Tip
A Winkhaus UID is lasered on the tip of the key (3)
for a unique assignment of the keys in the app.
This Winkhaus UID consists of the lettering 4HOME
and a six-digit number.
Example: 4HOME11277
The key bows (1) in passive keys are colour-coded to make it easier to
manage the keys.
The keys are available in the following 5 colours:
•blue
•Yellow
•Pink
•Green
•Grey

Adapter
The adapter (1) ensures that the keys are in the right position for data
transfer.

The activation card contains the required system data to convert an active
key into the Masterkey of the locking system.
The activation card contains the personal identification number (PIN) to
establish a Bluetooth link between the Masterkey and smartphone.

5Instructions for safe storage
The PUK contains the personal unblocking code which you can use if the
password is lost. The PUK card is still required for initialising the Masterkey
and if the Masterkey is lost.

1. Cylinder
Different cylinder types can be integrated into the locking system:
•Double cylinder
•Knob cylinder
•Half cylinder
•Padlock
The dimensions for individual cylinders are listed in the technical
specifications. You can increase the cylinder length by -mm increments on
one or both sides, depending on the cylinder.

Tip
You can read or display the battery charge status for
all cylinders.

The following battery charge states are displayed:
•good
•sufficient
•low
•replace
The battery must be replaced if the battery charge
status indicates 'low' or 'replace'. A cylinder will
intentionally delay closing to indicate an empty
battery.
Type 01 and type 21
Double cylinder
Double cylinders can be closed on both sides.
The following double cylinders can be integrated into the locking
system:
•Type 01 (1) and type 0 (1)
•Type 21 (2)
Type 01 (1) is used indoors for normal doors if doors have to be closed
with electronic control from both sides.
Type 0 (1) is used indoors for normal doors if doors only have to be
closed with electronic control from the outside (e.g. office doors). In
contrast to type 01 (1), type 0 (1) is mechanically lockable from the inside.
Type 21 (2) is used indoors and outdoors for high-traffic doors if doors
have to be closed with electronic control from both sides. The large
battery compartment complete with large battery guarantees a high
service life on high-traffic doors.
