Brief description
The key is suitable for use in fire brigade safes and their ambient
conditions. It locks blueSmart components (double knob cylin-

er standard user key. If applied for passive cylinders or cylinders
containing a low battery, it is necessary to press its button before
the locking transaction takes place.

energy supply which cannot be replaced.
2. Safety
This section provides an overview of all important safety as-
pects for personal protection and safe and problem-free op-

2.1 Symbols in these instructions
Safety instructions
Warnings are identified in these operating instructions by the
use of symbols. The safety information is preceded by signal
words emphasizing the severity of the risk.
2.2 Intended use
The blueSmart Rhino is intended for use exclusively as a user

system for commercial use.
Following all of the instructions in this manual is also part of

misuse. The key is designed for an operating life of up to five

2.3 Responsibility of the operator
The operator of the locking system is obliged to perform func-
tion tests of the key on all relevant door components on a reg-
ular basis, i. e. at least once a year.
Following an enabling operation or an unauthorised locking at-
tempt there may be a signal “battery warning”. After the signal-
ling the key must be removed at short notice (after 6 weeks at
the latest) and it must be replaced by a new key. A missing sig-
nalisation does not mean that the function will persist for more
than several weeks.
There must not be any interfering sources in the fire brigade
safe or in its vicinity that may rouse the electronics. However,
if this happens outside normal use or programming of the key,
it is indicated by a signalisation “active electronics”. Frequent
rousing of the electronics caused by interfering sources results
in a quicker discharge and consequently a reduced life of the
battery.
The operator of the locking system must make sure that the
key is removed from the system and replaced by another key if
the period of use or the admissible number of locking transac-
tions has been exceeded or if it has been exposed to interfering
sources.
