abinet design
The cabinet is c nstructed with a narr w
baffle - n t nly an aesthetically neat shape
but als an advantage in terms f s nic
since y u have a m re stable baffle which
effectively muffles res nances in the
cabinet.
The cabinet is made fr m 21mm MDF
b ard, which pr vides g d s nic qualities.
The cabinet is further strengthened by
internal bars, which in t tal ensures a very
stable c nstructi n.
Tweeter Driver
A ribb n tweeter m unted in a h rn
gives superi r transient resp nse,
a very flat
frequency resp nse and l w dist rti n.
The ribb n c ne is super light and nly 18
micr ns thin. It is a sandwich c nstructi n
f r sin-aluminium-r sin that has been
hardened at 320 degrees Celsius.
The magnet system is a 2 r w high-efficient
ne dymium magnets in a m ulded chassis
f ceramic carb n steel. Fishb ne shaped
c ntact rs in aluminium yields a l w
c nnecti n resistance and g d heat
derivati n.
The driver has high p wer durability and
handles frequencies up t 40000 Hz which
makes it DVD-Audi and SACD-ready.
Woofer/ Midrange
driver
We decided n ne 6½” driver, pr viding
the best relati n between p wer capacity,
frequency resp nse, transient resp nse and
price.
The driver is a ”c ated NPP” type with g d
s nic pr perties, high strength and l w
weight. The l w weight membrane t gether
with a p werful magnet ensures a high
efficiency. Rubber surr unding and quality
dampening material enhances g d
repr ducti n and a l ng life.

Tips for installation and placement
This chapter c ntains general inf rmati n
ab ut installing and placing y ur speakers.
These are general hints and tips, s there
may be excepti ns.
What room will
provide the best
sound reproduction?
Even the m st c mpetent HiFi equipment
will s und medi cre in the wr ng
envir nment. There are a few basic rules
c ncerning l udspeaker placement and
installati n:
Reflections
/Absorbing
Carpets, curtains and s me furniture abs rb
midrange and
high frequency s unds, which
is preferable. In c ntrast, big empty areas
reflect these frequencies pr ducing a hard,
unpleasant and blurry s und. Apart fr m
c l uring the s und, the stere perspective
will deteri rate. Reflecti ns fr m a r m
can r ughly be c mpared t the reflecti ns
causing ”gh st” images n a TV screen.
Amplification of bass
frequencies
If a l udspeaker is placed near a wall,
ceiling r fl r the l wer frequencies will be
amplified by the r m. S metimes this is
desirable, s metimes n t (it may lead t
indistinct bass repr ducti n).
The bass amplificati n bec mes m re
bvi us if the speaker is placed near a
c rner. Thus, f r a clear s und the speaker
sh uld be placed at least 30 cm (ab ut 12
inches) away fr m the wall.
H wever, there are excepti ns r m this
rule. F r s me types f walls/r ms it may
be an advantage placing the l udspeaker
cl ser t the wall.
Furniture
Be aware that s me furniture may vibrate,
causing rattling n ises at high s und levels.
Room dimensions
Quadratic r ms r r ms where the length
is cl se t twice the width sh uld
be
av ided. These r ms tend t cause
unwanted res nance and r m m des.
Placing your
loudspeakers
The angle f the speakers acc rding t the
listener is f great imp rtance.

- 7 -
Front speakers
In rder t btain the c rrect stere
perspective the l udspeakers sh uld be
placed symmetrically in fr nt f the listener.
The distance between the speakers sh uld
be r ughly 80% f the distance between the
listener and ne f the speakers. Or put in
an ther way, the angle seen by the by the
listener sh uld be ab ut 45 degrees, as
sh wn n the picture.
Angle of speakers
Either y u can ch se t place the speakers
angled t wards the listener, r place them
a
ngled straight ahead. Depending n the
r m s me speakers may s und better
when angled, thers may n t.
ables
Try t keep cables as sh rt as p ssible.
Acc rding t the electrical parameters, a
l ng c nduct r will have a bigger influence
n the s und than a sh rt ne. It may even
w rk as an antenna, picking up n ise and
electr magnetic fields, causing disturbing
hum etc.
Make sure all c nnect rs are clean and n t
xidized. All c nnecti ns sh uld be
mechanically stable, b th p wer, signal and
speaker cables. Signal cables sh uld be
separated fr m cables carrying large
currents.
Finally
Please remember that g d s und
repr ducti n is a matter f pers nal
preference. Y u have t experiment and try
different settings t achieve it.
We wish y u the best f luck!

Mounting and connecting tips
Mounting options
N rmally the XTZ 89 FRONT
is placed near a
TV set r a pr ject r screen. The wall behind
affect the repr ducti n f the speaker and
characteristics. Please take y ur time t try
ut the best placement.
Spikes
The XTZ 89 FRONT
is equipped with rubber feet,
intended f r vibrati n-
muffling, making the use f
spikes unnecessary.
.
orrect phase when
connecting
Always make sure the speaker is c nnected
in respect f the c rrect phase. The +
terminal f the amplifier sh uld be
c nnected t the + terminal f the speaker.
If the center speaker is
inc rrectly c nnected t the
amplifier, there is n risk f
damage r danger. H wever,
the s und will n t be
repr duced c rrectly.
Overloading
After playing at a very high s und level f r a
pr l nged peri d f time there is a risk f
damaging the speakers and/ r the
amplifier.
Initial use of your
speakers
The drivers f a l adspeaker require
ab ut
50 t 100
h urs f use bef re the full quality
level is reached.
During this time the
speaker can be used n rmally.

Room Tuning
–
Mechanical
adjustment of the
boundary frequency
By putting the supplied bass reflex plugs
int the p rt, y u can alter the l wer
b undary frequency f the XTZ 89 FRONT.
Als , the treble level might be adjusted in
rder t adapt the speaker t y ur listening
r m/ preference.
Deep bass characteristic
With ne plug inserted int the upper bass
reflex p rt the deepest p ssible bass
repr ducti ns is achieved. This may be
suitable f r smaller r ms.
”Fast” bass characteristic
With ne plug inserted int the l wer bass
reflex p rt a “faster” bass repr ducti ns is
achieved. This may be suitable f r bigger
r ms.
”Faster” bass characteristic
With n plugs m unted, the bass
repr ducti n is m re p werful and reaches
the highest SPL level.
losed box (Neutral bass
characteristic)
With all plugs m unted int the bass reflex
p rt, the speaker perates as a cl sed b x
c nstructi n. This w rks g d if the speaker
is m unted very near a wall. Generally, this
setting pr duces a ”tighter” bass.
These adjustments and settings
depend n the size and shape f
the r m, and f c urse y ur
wn preferences. We str ngly
suggest y u take y ur time t
try ut the ptimum settings.
