About 93 WMT
XTZ 93 WMT is a m nit r speaker that can be used
as either a fr ntspeaker ( n a stand f r example) r
a satellitespeaker.
It can als be c mbined with the bass m dules 99
W 12S, thus f rming a m st c mpetent 2.2 system.

Cabinet design The pyramid shape is n t nly an aesthetically neat
shape, but als has s me advantages in terms f
ac ustics, since n n-parallel walls muffles internal
res nances f the cabinet.
The cabinet is c nstructed with a narr w baffle -
n t nly an aesthetically neat shape but als an
advantage in terms f s nics since y u have a m re
stable baffle which effectively muffles res nances in
the cabinet.
The cabinet is made in 25mm MDF b ard, which
has g d s nic qualities.
The cabinet is further strengthened with bars,
which in t tal yields a very stable c nstructi n.
Tweeter driver We have ch sen a silk-made s ftd me tweeter
which pr vides superi r transient resp nse and a
very flat frequency resp nse with ut res nances.
Woofer/midrange
driver
After evaluating a large number f drivers fr m
different manufacturers we selected a driver which
is very c mpentent.
F r w fer/midrange we decided n a 6,5" s lid
c ated driver which gives a sm th extended
frequency resp nse whith a c ntr lled r ll ff.
The driver is made up f s lid c ated paper which
has g d s und qualities, high strength and l w
weight.
The surface treated c ne is extremely light but still
extremely stiff and effectively reduces res nances.
The rubber surr und makes sure that n edge
res nances are present.
The m ulded metal basket f "high fl w" type that
is ac ustically transparent and high precisi n since
the basket is shaped exactly due t m ulding. This
makes sure that the basket is very stable and
efficiently reduces res nances. The basket is
abs lutely n n-magnetically, which c ntributes t a
higher efficiency f the driver.
A str ng magnet c mbined with the light c ne
yields a high efficiency and a g d transient
resp nse.

We have ch sen a -12 dB cr ss ver that has a fast
transient resp nse and a minimum f phase
shiftings.
The c nnect rs are g ld-plated and f bi-wiring
type s that y u can c nnect t the amplifier with
d uble cables (bi-wiring), r c nnect t tw
amplifiers (bi-amping) f r further impr ving the
s und. The f ll wing c upling m des are available:
1. Upper terminal + lower terminal (loops
present) Default setting, the l udspeaker is fed
with the entire frequency range.
With ut the l p between upper and l wer
terminal:
2. Upper terminal. The signal is nly fed t the
tweeter.
3. Lower terminal. N w the signal is fed t the
w fer nly.

Practice of sound Installing and placing tips
This chapter c ntains c mm n inf rmati n n
l udspeaker placement and installati n.
In which room do
you achieve the best
sound?
N matter h w g d the equipment is, in the wr ng
listening envir nment it will inevitably s und bad.
There are s me basic rules c ncerning a pr per
l udspeaker installati n:
Reflexions Carpets, curtains and s ft furniture abs rbs mid
range and high frequency s und, and this is
preferable. Big empty area, n the c ntrary, reflects
it and pr duces a hard s und that may lead t a
blurry dial gue. Apart fr m c l uring the s und,
als the perspective f the s und will deteri rate.
Reflecti ns in the r m can r ughly be c mpared t
the reflecti ns that yield gh st pictures n a TV
screen.
Amplification of bass
frequencies
A l udspeaker that is placed near a wall, ceiling r
fl r will be amplified in the l wer frequencies in a
s metimes n t desirable way (since it may lead t
an indistinct s und recreati n). This amplificati n
bec mes even m re bvi us if the l udspeaker is
placed near a c rner. Thus, f r a s und as clear as
p ssible, the l udspeaker sh uld be placed ab ut
30 cm (ab ut 12 inches) away fr m the wall.
H wever, there are excepti ns fr m this rule. F r
s me type f walls / r ms it may be advantage us
t place the l udspeaker cl ser t the wall.
Furniture Be aware that furniture may vibrate and thus create
bad s und at l ud bass.
Room dimensions Quadratic r ms r r ms where the length is
exactly twice as l ng as the width sh uld be
av ided, since they may create unwanted
res nance.
Placing the
loudspeakers
H w the l udspeakers are placed t wards the
listener is f great imp rtance.
The front speakers F r stere listening the l udspeakers sh uld be
placed symmetrically in fr nt f the listener. The
distance between the l udspeakers sh uld be ab ut
80% f the distance between the listener and ne
l udspeaker, r put in an ther way: the angle
between the l udspeakers, as seen fr m the
listener, sh uld be ab ut 45 degrees. This means
f r example that if the distance between the
l udspeakers is 2 meters, the listener sh uld be
placed 2,5 meters fr m the l udspeakers.
Angling? Either y u can have the l udspeakers angled in
t wards the listener r y u can have them directed
straight ahead. S me l udspeakers s unds better
when angled, but this may als depend n
Page:

reflecti ns fr m the side walls. By angling the
l udspeakers inwards, y u decrease unwanted
reflecti ns and thus y u get a better stere
perspective.
The correct height If the l udspeakers are small, they sh uld be placed
n stands r tilted s that they are n the same
level as the ears.
Cables Try t keep them as sh rt as p ssible. By its
electrical parameters, a l ng c nduct r will have a
bigger influence n the s und than a sh rt ne. It
may als w rk as an antenna and thus receive
vari us signals, that may bec me a c nstant n ise
in an active subw fer.
Make sure that all c nnecti ns are clean and n t
xidated. All c nnecti ns sh uld be mechanically
stable, b th p wer, signal and l udspeaker cables.
Signal cables sh uld be separated fr m ther
cables.
Finally Please remember that g d s und is a matter f
taste, s y u have t experiment t btain it. We
wish y u the best f luck!
Mounting and Connecting tips
Mounting
alternatives
N rmally the XTZ 93 WMT is placed standing by a
wall. The wall behind and the wall beside the
l udspeaker have influence n b th the bass level
and the bass characteristics, s please be patient
and try different distances t the rear and side
walls.
Connect using the
correct phase
Always c nnect using the c rrect phase, fr m the
+-p le n the amplifier t the +-p le n the
l udspeaker and c rresp nding f r minus (-).
If y u by accident c nnect the ther way,
there is n risk f damage. H wever, the
s und will n t be c rrect, especially in the
l wer frequencies.
Overload At high l ad during extensive time peri ds, there is
always the risk f verl ading the driver and
amplifier.
All l udspeakers have a limited patience
f r high p wer, s be careful n t t play
extremely l ud and n t t increase trebble
r bass settings t much.
By increasing the bass r treble fr m 0 t
max y u will increase the p wer by ab ut
16 times.
The initial playing
time
It takes ab ut 50 t 100 h ur f initial playing time,
f r the driver t s und ptimal. During this time,
the speaker may be used n rmally.

Sound settings
Room Tuning -
Mechanical
adjustment of the
boundary frequency
By using the supplied bass plugs in the bass reflex
gates, y u can alter the l wer b undary frequency
n the XTZ 93 WMT.
Als the trebble level may be adjusted, which
all ws y u t perfectly alter the s nics t fit the
r m, equipment and y ur wn taste.
Closed gate
With the bass plug m unted in the bass reflex gate,
the cabinet is cl sed and the l udspeaker perates
as a cl sed c nstructi n. This yields a m re ”tight”
bass repr ducti n.
Bass reflex
With n plug present in the gate y u have a higher
bass level and the l udspeaker is capable f
handling l wer frequencies.
These settings als depends n the size
and shape f the r m, and als n y ur
wn taste, s please have patience when
trying ut y ur prefered setting.
Level adjustment -
Treble
The treble range can be adjusted t 2 different
settings.
Level adjustment in
the treble range
In the treble range the level is adjustable t tw
different m des using the switch n the back f the
speaker.
Mode 1/ - 0dB
In this m de the s und is neutral with a flat
frequency resp nse.
Mode 2/ -3dB
In this m de the treble level is decreased by -3dB.

/Biwiring
1. Upper terminal + lower terminal (loops
present) Default setting, the l udspeaker is fed
with the entire frequency range. In this m de, it
d esn't matter which c nnect rs y u use when
c nnecting the speaker cables.
With ut the l p between upper and l wer
terminal:
2. Upper terminal. The signal is nly fed t the
tweeter.
3. Lower terminal. N w the signal is fed t the
w fer nly.
PLEASE NOTE!! When the l ps are
c nnected, ensure that all f ur c ntacts
are pr perly fastened s that the l ps
c nnect rs are stuck - if the l p falls f, it
may sh rt-circuit between the + and -
c ntact and thus damage the amplifier.
