Turning on
APRS
Step 1. Tune band “B” to the APRS
frequency. (U.S.A. & Canada-144.390)
Step 2. Long press DISP/Setup button
Step 3. Press APRS
Step 4. Turn on Option 5 (APRS Modem)
and option 6 (APRS Mute *optional*).
Then exit to main display.
Step 5. Make sure the beacon is set to
desired type. This can be changed by
pressing the F/MW button followed by
the BEACON button. Filled in circle
indicates Auto Beacon. Empty Circle
indicates Smart Beacon.
Turning on
Cross Band Repeater
Step 1. Tune both “A” and “B” band to
desired frequencies. (Must be VHF
à
UHF
or UHF
à
VHF)
Step 2. Turn Radio Off
Step 3. While Pressing the GM, F/MW
and DISP/SETUP buttons power the radio
on.
To turn the Cross Band Repeater off follow
steps 2 and 3.
The purpose of this Field Guide is
intended for a quick reference guide
for the features most needed in the
field but not used on a daily basis.
You should familiarize yourself with
your radio prior to heading into the
Back Country. You can view
instructional videos on all features
outlined in this Field Guide on our

Programming
A Repeater
Step 1. Put the radio in VFO mode, this is
done by pressing the V/M button located
in the Function Menu.
Step 2. Enter the input frequency of the
repeater.
Step 3. Set the repeater shift direction.
(long press DISP/SetupàConfigàoption
5)
Step 4. Set the tone frequency
(long press
DISP/SetupàSignalingàoption 1)
Step 5. Set tone type
Press F/MW àSQL. Tap SQL until desired
tone type is displayed.
The radio is now set to transmit on the
repeater.
To save the Repeater into memory:
Step 1. Long press the F/MW button.
Step 2. Using top right VFO knob select
memory location.
Step 3. Long Press highlighted location to
enter name.
Step 4. Tap memory location to Confirm
to memory.
Step 5. Press Menu item 16 “Digi Path
Select” and select “Wide 1-1, Wide2-1”
Step 6. Press “Back Button”
Step 7. Press Menu item 23 “APRS Call
Sign”. Enter your FCC issued call sign
along with the appropriate SSID #.
Step 8. Press Option 26 and select “GPS”
Step 9. Press Menu item 30 “Smart
Beaconing” and select “Type 1”
Step 10. Press the “Back Button”
Now follow the steps outlined in
“Turning on APRS”

Settings
Step 1. Long press DISP/Setup
Step 2. Press APRS
Step 3. Menu item 14 “Beacon Status
Text”. Press and then select “Text 1”
followed by pressing Freq & Sql &
Shift. Enter additional information if
desired followed by the “ENT’ button.
Step 4. Press the “Back” button
