•Nevercarrya passengerunless

feetonthepassengerfootrests.
•Neverrideundertheinfluenceof
alcoholorotherdrugs.
•Thisscooterisdesignedfor
on-roaduseonly.Itisnotsuitable
foroff-roaduse.
Protectiveapparel
Themajorityoffatalitiesfromscooter
accidentsaretheresultofhead inju-
ries. Theuseofa safetyhelmetisthe
singlemostcriticalfactorinthepreven-
tionorreductionofheadinjuries.
•Alwayswearanapprovedhelmet.
•Weara faceshieldorgoggles.
Windinyourunprotectedeyes
couldcontributetoanimpairment
ofvisionwhichcoulddelayseeing
ahazard.
•Theuseofa jacket,substantial
shoes,trousers,gloves,etc.,isef-
fectiveinpreventingorreducing
abrasionsorlacerations.
•Neverwearloose-fittingclothes,
otherwisetheycouldcatchonthe
controlleversorwheelsandcause
injuryoranaccident.
•Nevertouchtheengineorexhaust
systemduringorafteroperation.
Theybecomeveryhotandcan
causeburns.Alwayswearprotec-
tiveclothingthatcoversyourlegs,
ankles,andfeet.
•Passengersshouldalsoobserve
theaboveprecautions.
Modifications
Modificationsmadetothisscooternot
approvedby Yamaha, or the removalof
originalequipment,mayrenderthe
scooterunsafeforuseandmaycause

Loadingandaccessories
Addingaccessoriesorcargotoyour
scootercanadverselyaffectstability
andhandlingiftheweightdistributionof
thescooterischanged.Toavoidthe
possibilityofanaccident,useextreme
cautionwhenaddingcargooraccesso-
riestoyourscooter.Useextracare
whenridinga scooterthathasadded
cargooraccessories.Herearesome
generalguidelinestofollowifloading
cargooraddingaccessoriestoyour
scooter:

Whenloadingwithinthisweightlimit,
keepthefollowinginmind:
•Cargoandaccessoryweight
shouldbekeptaslowandcloseto

todistributetheweightasevenly
aspossibleonbothsidesofthe
scootertominimizeimbalanceor
instability.
•Shiftingweightscancreatea sud-
denimbalance.Makesurethatac-
cessoriesandcargoaresecurely
attachedtothescooterbefore
riding. Checkaccessorymounts
andcargorestraintsfrequently.
•Neverattachanylargeorheavy
itemstothehandlebar,frontfork,
orfrontfender.Suchitemscan
createunstablehandlingora slow
steeringresponse.
Accessories
GenuineYamahaaccessorieshave
beenspecificallydesignedforuseon
thisscooter.SinceYamahacannottest
allotheraccessoriesthatmaybeavail-
able, youmustpersonallyberesponsi-
blefortheproperselection,installation
anduseofnon-Yamahaaccessories.
Useextremecautionwhenselecting
andinstallinganyaccessories.
Keepthefollowingguidelinesinmind,
aswellasthoseprovidedunder“Load-
ing”whenmountingaccessories.
•Neverinstallaccessoriesorcarry
cargothatwouldimpairtheperfor-
manceofyourscooter.Carefully
inspecttheaccessorybeforeusing
ittomakesurethatitdoesnotin
anywayreducegroundclearance
orcorneringclearance,limitsus-
pensiontravel,steeringtravelor
controloperation,orobscurelights
orreflectors.
•Accessoriesfittedtothehandle-
barorthefrontforkareacan
createinstabilityduetoimproper
weightdistributionoraerody-
namicchanges.Ifaccessories
areaddedtothehandlebaror
frontforkarea,theymustbeas
lightweightaspossibleand
shouldbekepttoa minimum.
•Bulkyorlargeaccessoriesmay
seriouslyaffectthestabilityof
thescooterduetoaerodynamic
effects.Windmayattempttolift
thescooter,orthescootermay
becomeunstableincross
winds.Theseaccessoriesmay
alsocauseinstabilitywhen
passingorbeingpassedby
largevehicles.
•Certainaccessoriescandis-
placetheoperatorfromhisor
hernormalridingposition.This
improperpositionlimitsthefree-
domofmovementoftheopera-
torandmaylimitcontrolability,
therefore,suchaccessoriesare
notrecommended.
•Usecautionwhenaddingelectri-
calaccessories.Ifelectricalacces-
soriesexceedthecapacityofthe
scooter’selectricalsysteman
electricfailurecouldresult,which
couldcausea dangerouslossof
lightsorenginepower.
Gasolineandexhaustgas
•GASOLINEISHIGHLYFLAMMA-

•Alwaysturntheengineoffwhen
refueling.

sonousandmaycauselossof
consciousnessanddeathwithina
shorttime.Alwaysoperateyour
scooterinanareathathasade-
quateventilation.
•Alwaysturntheengineoffbefore
leavingthescooterunattended
andremovethekeyfromthemain
switch. Whenparkingthescooter,
notethefollowing:
•Theengineandexhaustsystem
maybehot,therefore,parkthe
scooterina placewherepedes-
triansorchildrenarenotlikelyto
touchthesehotareas.
•Donotparkthescooterona
slopeorsoft ground, otherwiseit
mayfallover.
•Donotparkthescooterneara
flammablesource (e.g., a kero-
seneheater,ornearanopen
flame),otherwiseitcouldcatch
fire.
•Ifyoushouldswallowanygaso-
line, inhalea lotofgasolinevapor,
orallowgasolinetogetintoyour
eyes, seeyourdoctorimmediate-
ly.Ifanygasolinespillsonyour
skinor clothing, immediatelywash
theaffectedareawithsoapand
waterandchangeyourclothes.

andopena doorinyour path.
•Railroadcrossings,streetcarrails,
ironplatesonroadconstruction
sites, andmanholecoversbe-
comeextremelyslipperywhen
wet.Slowdownandcrossthem
withcaution.Keepthescooterup-
right,otherwiseitcouldslideout
fromunderyou.
•Thebrakepadscouldgetwet
whenyouwashthescooter.After
washingthescooter,checkthe
brakesbeforeriding.
