Overview
Contents of this chapter
The chapter provides an overview of NETA-21 based services.
Overview
ABB Ability services provide faster fault tracing for ABB Drives. The service helps the
customer to minimize unplanned downtime in failure cases. The service offers automatic
and continuous collection of drive performance data into a centralized database. The data,
such as, drive events, selected signals, dataloggers (called as TripRecorder /
StartRecorder / ConfigurableTransientRecorder / GndFltRecorder in PEC), parameter files
and troubleshooting instructions enable fast fault tracing. The service engineers use the
remote data to provide technical support for customers.
The set up of monitored signals is loaded and updated in NETA-21 and transferred into
ABB cloud environment. The data is recorded and available for analysis and is the basis
for several digital services for drives. Services include:
•ABB Ability™ Condition Monitoring for drives
•ABB Ability™ Remote Assistance for Drives
•ABB Ability™ Condition Based Maintenance
Note: For users who do not want to use cloud services, it is recommended to use ABB
Ability™ Condition Monitoring for drives On-premises tool. ABB Ability™ Condition
Monitoring drives On-premises is a simplified version of ABB Ability™ Condition

time with ACSx80 drives using Ethernet cable. The ETH2 port Internet connectivity
uses only limited bandwidth (typically less than 1 Mbit/s effective speed) to send
compressed data to cloud every 1.5 minutes.
4. Optional materials:
•FDPI-02 panel bus extension adapter, if you are using panel bus adapter and
connecting more than one control unit
•FEA-03 extension board (requires FDCO-02 optical fiber extension) if you want to
install IO and encoder options away from the main control unit. This allows to
connect two parallel fieldbus modules. For example, one FENA-21 for PC tool and
another FENA-21 for NETA-21 connection.
To connect MV Drives ACS1000, ACS2000, ACS5000 and ACS 6000
1. Optical fiber for connections between NEXA-21 and the drive
2. NDBU-95C Branching unit for multi drive setups.
Note: Use CH3 channel for connecting NETA-21 to the drive.

20 Preparation for installation
To connect MV drives ACS580MV and ACS6080
1. Refer to the connection of ACS880 (using supported fieldbus adapter module,
Ethernet module or Panel bus).
2. These drives also provide Ethernet tool network monitoring over the embedded
Ethernet (XETH) port.
To connect PEC/LCI
AC800PEC PC tool with appropriate license
PEC3 generation control unit. Old generation control units, such as PEC 2 needs to be
upgraded to PEC3.
To connect DCS800
SDCS-COM-8 communication module.
Note: Use CH3 channel for connecting NETA-21 to the drive.
