10 Installation instructions
1.3.2 Work steps
ADVICEThe installation steps given here must be carried out on both sides; the work on one side is a mirror
image of that on the opposite side. Exception: steps 13 and 14.
The figures refer to the removable part of the picture in the middle of this issue.
1. Move your caravan to a comfortable working height and secure it.
2. If an installation opening for cables in the frame is available, then insert a rubber grommet (fig. 1).
3. Measure the distance between the frame and the inside of the wheel (fig. 2).
4. Subtract 110 from the value measured.
➯If the resultant value does not correspond exactly to the value of the spacers, round it down to the
nearest available value.
➯Take the example 3, avoid the drive roll must be at least 50% of the tire cover!
Example 1 Measured: 125 mm (125 -110=15) Use 15 mm spacer
Example 2 Measured: 150 mm (150 -110=40) Use 20 and 15 mm spacer
Example 3 Measured: > 150 mm Use 20, 15 and 10 mm spa-
cer
5. Assemble the spacers for your vehicle using the supplied plastic setscrews (fig. 3).
➯The combination of spacers must be the same on each side! Minimum spacer distance: 10 mm.
6. Insert the appropriate carriage bolts into the guide profile (fig. 4 -a). The screw length depends on the
spacers used
up to 25 mm spacing: 12x55
from 30 mm spacing: 12x85.
7. Thread the required spacers onto the carriage bolts (fig. 4 -b).
8. For chassis with a variable axle support (3AV), continue with step 21.
9. Run the cable from the mammoth drive through the rubber grommet. For a third-party chassis, run the
cable through the frame part or under the frame part at a suitable location.
10.Insert the Mammut drive with the bolts into the available mounting holes in the frame and fasten it with
one nut (fig. 6).
11.Thread the crossmember connecting piece onto the bolts on the inside of the frame.
12.Fit the washers and hand-tighten the nuts (fig. 8).
➯The crossmember connecting piece is secured.
13.Fit the crossmember middle piece onto the connecting pieces.
14.Insert the M12x30 screws into the slots with the washers and nuts, and centre the crossmember
middle piece (fig. 9).
➯The overlap with the crossmember connecting pieces must be the same on both sides!
15.Position the Mammut drive at the correct distance from the wheel and hand-tighten the nuts (fig. 10).
➯Check the distance using the supplied minimum distance block: 20x20x35 mm (fig. 10 -a). Distance
between the wheel and the Mammut roller: 20 mm.
16.Hand-tighten the screws on the crossmember middle piece.
17.Lower the vehicle and check the distances again with the wheel deflected; readjust if necessary (fig.
2 / 10).
18.Move your caravan back to a comfortable working height and secure it.
