General information
Reading and storing the user manual
This user manual accompanies this digital food dehydrator (simply
referred to below as “dehydrator”). It contains important
information about start-up and handling.
Before using the dehydrator, read the user manual carefully. This
particularly applies to the safety instructions. Failure to heed this user manual
may result in severe injury or damage to the dehydrator.
Store the user manual for future use. If you pass the dehydrator on to third
parties, please be absolutely sure to include this user manual.
Explanation of symbols
The following symbols and signal words are used in this user manual, on the
dehydrator or on the packaging.
WARNING!
This signal symbol/word designates a
hazard with moderate degree of risk which
may lead to death or severe injury if not
avoided.
CAUTION!
This signal symbol/word designates a
hazard with low risk that, if not avoided,
may result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE! This signal word warns against potential
damages to property.
This symbol provides you with useful supplementary
information on assembly or operation.
This symbol identifies electrical appliances that are equipped
with double insulation and are therefore designated as Class II.
This symbol identifies food-safe products. Therefore,
characteristic flavors and fragrances will not be affected.

Safety
Proper use
The dehydrator is only designed for dehydrating or drying suitable foods. It is
intended for private use only and is not suitable for commercial purposes.
Only use the dehydrator as described in this user manual. Any other use is
deemed improper and may result in damage to property or even personal
injury. The dehydrator is not a children’s toy.
The manufacturer or vendor accepts no liability for damage caused by
improper or incorrect use.
Safety instructions
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed including the following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against electrical shock do not immerse cord,
plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used
by or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or
plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been
damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest
authorized service facility for examination, repair, or
adjustment.
7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by
the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or
touch hot surfaces.
10.Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a

heated oven.
11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance
containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
12.Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as adding
refrigerated foods into a heated pot.
13.Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into
the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to“off”,
then remove plug from wall outlet.
14.Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
15.Save these Instructions.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is
intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still
does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
modify the plug in any way.
A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply
cord) is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer
detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are
available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If a longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is
used:
1. The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension
cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of
the appliance;
2. The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over
the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by
children or tripped over unintentionally.

A faulty electrical installation or excessive line voltage may
result in an electric shock.

− Only connect the dehydrator if the line voltage of the
outlet corresponds to the rating plate specification.
− Only connect the dehydrator to an easily accessible outlet
so that you can quickly disconnect the dehydrator from
the grid in the event of a fault.
− Do not operate the dehydrator if it is visibly damaged or if
the power cable or power plug is defective.
− If the power cable of the dehydrator is damaged, the
manufacturer, its after sales support or a person with
similar qualifications must replace it to avoid risks.
− Do not open the housing; instead, have a qualified
professional carry out the repairs. Contact a qualified
workshop for this. Liability and warranty claims are
waived in the event of repairs performed by the user,
improper connection of the device or incorrect operation.
− Only parts that comply with the original device
information may be used for repairs. Electrical and
mechanical parts, which are essential for providing
protection against sources of danger, are located in this
dehydrator.
− Do not operate the dehydrator with an external timer or
separate telecontrol system.
− Do not immerse the dehydrator or the power cable or
power plug in water or other liquids.
− Never touch the power plug with wet hands.
− Never pull the power plug out of the outlet by the power
cable; instead, always do so by taking hold of the power
plug.
− Never use the power cable as a carrying handle.
− Keep the dehydrator, power plug and power cable away
from open flames and hot surfaces.
− Lay the power cable so that it does not pose a tripping
hazard.

− Do not kink the power cable and do not lay it over sharp
edges.
− Only use the dehydrator indoors. Never operate it in wet
rooms or in the rain.
− Never store the dehydrator such that there is a risk of it
falling into a tub or a basin.
− Never retrieve an electrical device by hand if it has fallen
in water. In such a case, immediately disconnect the
power plug.
− Make sure that children do not insert any objects in the
dehydrator.
− Always switch the dehydrator off and pull the power plug
out of the outlet when you are not using the dehydrator,
when you intend to clean it or in the event of a fault.
WARNING!
Danger for children and persons with impaired physical,
sensory or mental capacities (e.g. partially disabled
persons, older persons with reduced physical and mental
capacities) or lack of experience and knowledge (e.g.
older children).
− This dehydrator may be used by children ages eight and
over as well as persons with impaired physical, sensory
or mental capacities or those lacking experience and
knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed
in how to safely use the dehydrator and have understood
the risks associated with operating it. Children must not
play with the dehydrator.
− Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed
by children unless they are at least 8years old and under
supervision.
− Keep children under eight years of age away from the
dehydrator and connection line.

− Do not leave the dehydrator unattended while in
operation.
− Do not let children play with the packaging wrapper.
Children may get caught in it when playing and suffocate.
WARNING!
Burn hazard!
The top part of the dehydrator becomes hot during operation.
You could burn yourself on it.
− Make sure that the dehydrator has a stable position. It
must be set up in a level position so that it cannot wobble.
− Do not touch the hot parts of the dehydrator with bare
fingers during operation. Always use heat-insulated oven
gloves or pot-holders when touching the dehydrator.
Clearly advise other users of these risks!
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the dehydrator may result in damage to
the dehydrator.
− Place the dehydrator on an easily accessible, level, dry,
heat-resistant and sufficiently stable work surface. Do not
place the dehydrator on the edge of the work surface.
− Avoid the build-up of heat by not placing the dehydrator
directly up against a wall or under cupboards or similar.
− Never place the dehydrator on or near hot surfaces (e.g.
hotplates).
− Ensure that the power cable does not come into contact
with hot parts.
− Never expose the dehydrator to high temperatures
(heaters etc.) or to effects of the weather (rain etc.).

− Never place the dehydrator or its components in a
dishwasher. Otherwise it will be destroyed.
− Only use the drying trays and the cover with this
dehydrator.
− Stop using the dehydrator if its plastic parts exhibit cracks
or breaks or are deformed. Replace damaged parts only
with corresponding original spare parts.

Checking the dehydrator and package contents
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
If you are not cautious when opening the packaging with a
sharp knife or other pointed object, you may quickly damage
the dehydrator.
− Be very careful when opening it.
1. Take the dehydrator out of the packaging.
2. Check to make sure that all parts are included (see Fig.A).
3. Check whether the dehydrator or the individual parts exhibit damage. If
this is the case, do not use the dehydrator. Contact the manufacturer at the
service address specified on the warranty card.
Basic cleaning
1. Remove the packaging material and all protective films.
2. Before first use, clean all parts of the dehydrator as described in the chapter
“Cleaning”:
• Cover 1,
• Drying trays 2and
• Base unit 3.
Assembling the dehydrator
1. Place the base unit 3on a dry, level, non-slip and heat-resistant surface
located close to an outlet.

2. Place a drying tray 2on the base unit and stack as many drying trays on
top of one another as needed for the dehydration process.
Make sure that the drying tray without the opening in the middle is always
in the topmost position.
3. Place the cover 1on the topmost drying tray.
Heating the device before first use
To remove any residue from production, you have to heat up the
dehydrator without food for 1 hour before first use. Any odor that
is emitted is normal and will disappear after a short time. This
is not a malfunction of the dehydrator. If this occurs, make sure
that you open windows for adequate ventilation.
1. Connect the power plug 4with a properly installed outlet.
The indicator on the display 7on the control panel 5will start to blink
(see Fig. B).
2. Press the Plus button 9once.
1HR will appear on the display.
3. Start the operation by pushing the ON/OFF button 8.
The fan will turn on and warm air will flow out of the hot air vent 6.
The dehydrator will automatically switch off after one hour.
4. Pull the power plug out of the outlet and let the dehydrator cool off.
General information about dehydrating
Drying and dehydrating are the oldest forms of conserving food known to man.
Removing water from food eliminates the basis for fermentation processes,
which prevents the formation of bacteria associated with rotting and mold. If
used and stored properly, dehydrated products will last for years.
The concentration of flavors makes dehydrated food very tasty. It does not
affect the vitamins, nutrients and minerals.
After being soaked in water, you can use many different dehydrated foods in
numerous recipes.
Before dehydrating
What to consider
− Only use fresh, ripe, high-quality fruits and vegetable varieties.
− Clean vegetables and fruits as soon as possible after harvesting them and
prepare them if necessary.
− Prevent unwanted changes in color and/or flavor by blanching foods or
immersing them in solutions (like lemon juice).

Preparing food
− Wash all food thoroughly.
− Remove any damaged areas, seeds or pits.
− Prepare food according to the dehydration table below. If possible, cut the
food into similarly sized pieces and remember that the pieces will shrink
considerably during dehydration.
Dehydration table
The values specified in the table serve only as a guideline. The
dehydration time depends on the size and thickness of the
pieces or slices cut. Decide yourself how you would prefer to
enjoy your food.

− Meat must be sliced very thinly to be dried. Partially freeze
meat for up to 1 hour. Remove and slice thinly across the grain.
Place the slices on the drying trays 2immediately.
− Seafood fillets should also be thinly sliced. If needed, partially
freeze the fish first for up to 1 hour. Remove any bones, even
small ones, for best results.
− Create a great lowfat Teriyaki Chicken Jerky by thinly slicing
chicken breasts and marinating in Teriyaki sauce for 1 hour
prior to drying. Pat dry and arrange on drying trays. When
done, add crushed red pepper, chili powder or other spices to
kick up the flavor.
The dehydration process
Filling the dehydrator
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Liquid may infiltrate electrified parts of the device and damage
them.
− Never fill the dehydrator with liquid.
− Place fruits or vegetables on the drying trays 2so that the warm air is still
able to circulate properly.
− If you use food with different dehydration times, place the food with the
longest dehydration time on the bottom drying tray as the temperature is
the highest there (see Fig. C).
− To the extent possible, use the same kind of food on all drying trays.
− Place the pieces of fruit on the drying trays upright and close together.
− As a general rule, place unpeeled fruits on the drying trays with their cut
surface facing upward, unless the recipe recommends otherwise.
− Arrange the sliced fruit on the drying trays in a scale-like pattern.
− Only arrange the vegetables on the drying trays in one layer.
− Stack the drying trays on top of one another so that the teeth on the drying
tray extend into the designated holders on the bottom of the drying trays
(see Fig. D).

Starting the dehydration process
The drying temperature can be displayed in both Celsius (°C)
and Fahrenheit (°F).
− Hold the SET button 11 down for three seconds to access the
desired mode. The selected mode will appear on the indicator
on the display 7.
1. Connect the power plug 4with a properly installed outlet.
The indicator on the display on the control panel 5will start to blink
(see Fig. B).
2. Set the desired drying duration using the Plus button 9and/or the Minus
button 10 .
3. Push the SET button to be able to set the temperature.
The °C or °F symbol will light up.
4. Set the desired temperature with the plus button and/or the minus button.
5. Start the operation by pressing the ON/OFF button 8.
The fan will turn on and warm air will flow out of the hot air vent 6.
The dehydrator will automatically switch off once the set dehydration time
has elapsed.
During the dehydration process
The indicator on the display will alternate every 5seconds between the
remaining dehydration time and the dehydration temperature.
During the dehydration process, you can change the dehydration temperature
and the dehydration time.
1. Push the SET button 11 when the mode you would like to change is shown.
The indicator on the display 7will start to blink.
2. Change the drying duration and temperature by pressing the Plus button 9
and/or minus button 10 .
3. Wait until the indicator on the display stops blinking to save the setting.
Replacing and turning the drying trays
− To ensure uniform drying, replace and turn the drying trays 2occasionally
during the dehydration process.
Make sure that the drying tray without the opening in the middle is always
in the topmost position.
− As the food on the bottom trays is exposed to the hottest and driest air, move
the bottom trays up and the top trays down.

Storage of dehydrated food

Pausing/aborting the dehydration process
You can pause or abort the dehydration process at any time.
− To pause the dehydration process, briefly push the ON/OFF button 8.
The reading PA will appear on the display 7.
Push the ON/OFF button again to continue to the dehydration process.
− To abort the dehydration process, hold the ON/OFF button down for 3
seconds.
The reading 00 will appear on the display.
End of the dehydration process
Once the dehydration process ends, a signal will sound for a few seconds and
the dehydrator will automatically switch off.
− Remove the power plug 4from the outlet.
Storage of dehydrated food
− Let the dehydrated food cool off enough before packaging it. For example
jars that can be sealed or shrink-wrapped single-serving packages are
suitable storage solutions.
− You can store dehydrated food at any room temperature, but ideally in dry,
cool and dark rooms.
− For a better overview, clearly label individual containers.
Preparing dehydrated food
CAUTION!
Health hazard!
Despite dehydration, food still contains bacteria, yeast and
mold. As a result, dehydrated food soaked for prolonged
periods at room temperature may spoil. You could upset your
stomach.
− Put the dehydrated food in the refrigerator if you intend to
soak it for more than two hours.
You can enjoy most fruits when dry. However, vegetables that have been
prepared tend to taste better.
− Before cooking vegetables, let them soak in the refrigerator for 2 to 8 hours.
Then use the water you soaked the food for cooking.

− Prepare the vegetables as you normally do.
− Vegetables like carrots are best when soaked in ice water or water in the
refrigerator.

Water or other liquids that have penetrated the housing may
cause a short circuit.
− Never submerge the base unit in water or other liquids.
− Make sure that no water or other liquids penetrate the
housing.

Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the dehydrator may result in damage to
the dehydrator.
− Do not use any aggressive cleaners, brushes with metal or
nylon bristles, or sharp or metallic cleaning utensils such
as knives, hard scrapers and the like. They could damage
the surfaces.
− Never place the dehydrator or its components in a
dishwasher. Otherwise it will be destroyed.
