Provox LaryButton - When and How to Use
The Provox LaryButton sits inside the stoma by itself and prevents the
tracheostoma from shrinking. It is used to hold the Provox HME’s, Provox
Shower Aid and the Provox FreeHands HME.
1. Sizing of the Provox LaryButton
• YourabilitytousetheLaryButtondependsonthesizeandshape
ofyourstoma.Itshouldfitwellintoyourstomawithoutcausing
irritation.Alwaysdiscusswithaclinicianbeforeusing
aLaryButton.Yourclinicianwillbeabletohelpyoudecide
whichLaryButtonisbestforyou.
2. InsertingtheProvoxLaryButton
• LightlylubricatethesmallendoftheLaryButtonthatfitsinto
yourstoma.Useonlyawatersolublelubricant.
• Foldthenarrowendwithyourfingersandholditfirmlyfolded.
• Insertthenarrowendintoyourtracheostomaand
releaseyourfingers.
• MakesurethattheLaryButtonisinthecorrectpositionand
thatitisnotpushingonthevoiceprosthesis.
• TheLaryButtoncanbeattachedwithProvoxLaryClips,
oraProvoxTubeHolder.
• InsertaProvoxHMEorProvoxFreeHandsHMEintothe
openingoftheLaryButton.
3. Wearing your Provox LaryButton
• IfyouarehavingdifficultygettingusedtowearingyourProvox
LaryButton,weartheLaryButtonforaslongasyoucanandthen
takeitoff.SlowlyincreasethetimeyouwearyourLaryButton.
• DonotwearyourLaryButtonduringthenight.UseaProvox
AdhesiveoraLaryTubewithasmallerwidthsoyour
tracheostomacanshrinkbackdownabit.
TIP: Ifyourtracheostomagetsbiggerthroughouttheday,youcan
changetoalargersizeProvoxLaryButtonwhennecessary.
