1. Explanation of the symbols
WARNING!To reduce the risk of injury dur-
ing operation, read the instructions.
Denotes risk of personal injury, loss
of life or damage to the tool in case
of non-observance of the
instructions in this manual.
Risk of electric shock.
Immediately remove the mains
plug from the mains if the mains
cable becomes damaged and
during cleaning and
maintenance.Always wear hearing
protection. The effects of noise can
cause hearing loss.
Wear a dust mask. When working
with wood and other materials,
harmful dust may be generated.
Work with asbestos containing
materials is not permitted!
Wear safety glasses. When working
with electric power tools, sparks,
splinters, chips and dust particles
may be generated and these can
cause loss of sight.
Electric power tool, protection
class II. This sign symbolises that
this unit corresponds to Protection
Class II. This means that the unit is
equipped with either reinforced or
double insulation between the
mains circuit and output voltage or
metal housing respectively.
Variable speed control.
CE stands for “Conformité
Européenne”, which means “In
accordance with EU Regulations”.
With the CE marking, the
manufacturer conrms that this
Electric tool complies with the
applicable European directives.
Do not dispose of electric power
tools with domestic refuse.
2. General safety instructions for
power tools
WARNING! Read all safety
warnings and all instructions.
Failure to follow all instructions listed below
mayresultinelectricshock,reand/or
serious injury.
The term “power tool” in all of the warnings
listed below refers to your mains operated
(corded) power tool or battery operated
(cordless) power tool.



Cluttered and dark areas invite
accidents.

Power tools create sparks which
may ignite the dust of fumes.

Distrac-
tions can cause you to lose control.

will reduce risk of electric shock.

3. Safety instructions for all
operations


 



Failure to follow all instruc-
tions listed below may result in electric

tions for which the power tool was not
designed may create a hazard and

Just
because the accessory can be attached
to your power tool, it does not assure
safe operation.
 


Accessories running faster than their
ratedspeedcanbreakandyapart.
 


Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be
adequately guarded or controlled.
 


 Accessories with arbour
holes that do not match the mounting
hardware of the power tool will run out
of balance, vibrate excessively and may
cause loss of control.
 

Dam-
aged accessories will normally break
apart during this test time.
 






The eye protection must be
capableofstoppingyingdebrisgener-
ated by various operations. The dust
mask or respirator must be capable of
ltratingparticlesgeneratedbyyour
operation. Prolonged exposure to high
intensity noise may cause hearing loss.
 


 Fragments of work-
pieceorofabrokenaccessorymayy
away and cause injury beyond immedi-
ate area of operation.
 

 Cutting accessory contacting a
“live” wire may make exposed metal
parts of the power tool “live” and shock
the operator.
 
 If you lose control, the cord
may be cut or snagged and your hand
or arm may be pulled into the spinning
accessory.
 

The spinning accessory may grab
the surface and pull the power tool out
of your control.

Accidental contact
with the spinning accessory could snag
your clothing, pulling the accessory into
your body.
 
The motor’s fan will draw the
dust inside the housing and excessive
accumulation of powdered metal may
cause electrical hazards.
 
Sparks could
ignite these materials.
 
 Using water or other
liquid coolants may result in electrocu-
tion or shock.
4. Further safety instructions for
all operations

Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched
or snagged rotating wheel, backing pad,
brush or any other accessory. Pinching or
snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotat-
ing accessory which in turn causes the
uncontrolled power tool to be forced in the
direction opposite of the accessory’s rota-
tion at the point of the binding.
For example, if an abrasive wheel is
snagged or pinched by the workpiece, the
edge of the wheel that is entering into the
pinch point can dig into the surface of the
material causing the wheel to climb out or
kick out. The wheel may either jump toward
or away from the operator, depending on
direction of the wheel’s movement at the
point of pinching. Abrasive wheels may also
break under these conditions.
Kickback is the result of power tool misuse
and/or incorrect operating procedures or
conditions and can be avoided by taking
proper precautions as given below.
 





The operator can control
torque reactions or kickback forces, if
proper precautions are taken.
 
 Accessory may kick-
back over your hand.
 

Kickback will propel the tool in
direction opposite to the wheel’s move-
ment at the point of snagging.
 

Corners,
sharp edges or bouncing have a ten-
dency to snag the rotating accessory
and cause loss of control or kickback.
 
 Such
blades create frequent kickback and
loss of control.
5. Additional safety instructions
for sanding operations


 


Larger sanding
paper extending beyond the sanding
pad presents a laceration hazard and
may cause snagging, tearing of the disc
or kickback.

trim any loose attachment strings.

7. Safety instructions for sanders
When using electric tools, basic
safety precautions should always
be followed to reduce the risk of
re, electric shock and personal
injury.
Read all these instructions before
attempting to operate this product
and save these instructions.

Check the following:
• Make sure the voltage corresponds to
the type label on the unit.
• Persons with limited physical, sensorial
or mental abilities are not allowed to
use the unit, unless they are supervised
fortheirsafetybyaqualiedperson.
• The sander may not be used in damp
environment.  The sander is
not designed for wet sanding.
• Secure the work pieces to avoid
slipping.
• Always lay down the sander before the
moving parts have come to complete
stop.
• Always attach the dust bag or a vac-
uum cleaner to the dust extraction
angewhileworkingwiththesander.
Make sure that the integrated dust
extraction system is functioning.
• The dust forming during operation may
be hazardous to your health, combus-
tible or explosive. Take the necessary
precautions as:
Always wear hearing protection.
Wear a dust mask.
: Please note that poisonous dust
may be formed e. g. when sanding paint,
which contains lead, while processing some
kinds of wood or metal. Always use a dust
extraction device and a dust mask.
• Only use extension cables which are
approved for outdoor operation.
• In the case of a malfunction please do
not attempt to repair the machine your-
self. Contact the customer support
department or have it repaired by a
professional.
8. Electrical safety
When using electric machines always
observe the safety regulations applicable in
yourcountrytoreducetheriskofre,elec-
tric shock and personal injury. Read the
following safety instructions and also the
enclosed safety instructions.
Always check that the power
supply corresponds to the voltage
on the rating plate.
Class II machine – Double
insulation – You don’t need any
earthed plug.

If the power cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer or its service
agentorasimilarlyqualiedperson,in
order to avoid a hazard.
Immediately throw away old cables or plugs
when they have been replaced by new ones.
It is dangerous to insert the plug of a loose
cable in the wall outlet.

Only use an approved extension cable suita-
ble for the power input of the machine. The
minimum conductor size is 1.5 mm2. When
using a cable reel always unwind the reel
completely.
Inadequate extension cords can be danger-
ous. If an extension cord is used, it shall be
suitable for outdoor use, and the connection
has to be kept dry and off the ground. It is
recommended that this is accomplished by
means of a cord reel which keeps the
socket at least 60 mm above the ground.
9. Before the rst use
Remove the device and accessories from
the packaging. Keep packaging materials
away from small children. There is danger
of suffocation!
