Only for use in the BMW dealer organisation.
Subject to technical modifications.
Installation information
Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car.
If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used.
Target group
The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the
appropriate specialist knowledge.
All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and
work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and
safety regulations.
Ordering instructions
A black insert for the centre console is supplied in the retrofit kit.
An insert for the centre console in other colours for cars with different interior colours can be ordered if
required. See the EPC for all further ordering information.
Safety instructions
Refer to the safety instructions for handling components of the airbag system. Further information is available
in the TIS in RA No. 32 34 ... If you fail to follow the safety instructions the airbag system may deploy
incorrectly and cause injuries.

4. To install and connect the retrofit wiring harness

Connect branch A11 to plug X18126 .
If the plug X13321 is already in the car, the two
cables from branch A9 must be disconnected and
connected to the same pins in the plug in the car
X13321 .


Install branches A3 – A8 as follows:
-Branches A3 and A4 to the centre console.
-Branch A8 to the A pillar.
Cars with SA 660/661/662 only
-Branches A5 – A7 to the radio.
Cars with SA 602/606/609/663 only
-Insulate branches A5 and A6 and tie them back.

Lay branch A8 to the installation site of the hands-free
microphone.

Disconnect plug X322 .

Connect branch A6 as follows to plug X18126 :
-WS/BR cable in PIN 4
-WS/GN cable in PIN 10

Connect branch A5 to plug X18126 .
If the plug X13321 is already in the car, the two
cables from branch A9 must be disconnected and
connected to the same pins in the plug in the car
X13321 .


5. To install and connect the transceiver module

Cars with SA 660/661/662 only
Insert the transceiver module (1) into the holder (2) and
secure it with the bar (3).
Connect branch B2 to the transceiver module (1).
Connect the aerial adapter C between the transceiver
module (1) and standard aerial cable (4).

Place speed nuts (1) in the side panel (2) on the left-hand
side of the boot.
0
Bolt the holder with the transceiver module (1) to the left-
hand side panel using hexagonal screws (2).

Cars with SA 602/606/609/663 only
Insert the transceiver module (1) into the holder (2) and
secure it with the bar (3).
Connect branch B2 to the transceiver module (1).
Connect the aerial adapter C between the transceiver
module (1) and standard aerial cable (4).

on the left-hand side of the boot.

Bolt the holder with the transceiver module (1) to the left-
hand module holder (3) using hexagonal screws (2).

Connect the telephone cable (1) to the eject box (2).
Insert the telephone cable (1) into the cable guide (3) and
clip the cable guide (3) together.
0Clip the eject box (1) into the frame console (2).

oddments box (2).

6. To install and connect the eject box

0Affix the foam strip (1) to the inside of the holder frame (2).
Place the interface (3) on the oddments box (4) and clip in
the holder frame (2).
0Connect the black 12-pin plug (1) for the eject box to the
interface (2).
Connect the black 6-pin plug (3) for the eject box to the
black 6-pin plug (4) for the interface (2).

The adapter cable Cmust be fitted.
Connect the eject box adapter C between the black 18-
pin plug (1) on the interface and branch A3.
0Wrap the plug connectors (1) in safety strips (2).

7. To install the hands-free microphone

Connect branch A8 to the hands-free microphone (1).
The arrow on the hands-free microphone (1) must
point to the front of the car.
Clip the hands-free microphone (1) into the trim (2).
0Cars without SA 403 only
Only use the template from the installation kit.
Cut out the template (1) and affix it to the headlining
behind the opening for the interior light.
Cut the hatched area (3) out of the headlining.
0Push the metal frame (1) through the opening (2) and clip
it to the retaining frame (3).
0Connect branch A8 to the hands-free microphone (1).
The arrow on the hands-free microphone (1) must
point to the front of the car.
Clip the hands-free microphone (1) into the trim (2).
