How it all works
If your BT Home Hub and BT Vision V-box™ are in
the same room there is no need for you to use the
supplied Powerline Adapters. Please use the supplied
leads instead.
If your BT Home Hub and BT Vision V-box™ are in
different rooms please read these instructions in
full before starting the installation, to make sure it
goes smoothly.
• Your BT Vision V-box™ will sit near your television,
and will use the supplied Comtrend Powerline
Adapters to connect to your BT Home Hub.
• We know that most people have their main TV in the
living-room and their PC elsewhere in the home.
Following the steps in this guide means the BT Home
Hub and BT Vision V-box™ do not need to be near
each other. The Powerline Adapters automatically
allow the BT Vision V-box™ to communicate with the
BT Home Hub.
How it all works

FAQs FAQs
FAQs
My BT Vision V-box™ is displaying an error code
– What should I do?
• Check that your BT Home Hub is plugged in and
switched on and that the Broadband Light is solid
green and the Internet Light is solid green or flashing.
• Check that all the Yellow Ethernet Leads are
correctly inserted into their sockets. They should
click firmly into place.
• Check you have internet access, if not, refer to
your BT Home Hub Guide - available online at
www.homehub.bt.com/html/getting-started.html.
If an error code is displayed, you can either check
our online guide at www.btvision.com/help for
further advice, or simply call us on 0845 600 7030.
Why can’t I see anything on my TV?
• Check your BT Vision V-box™ and TV are switched on.
• Check that your TV has selected the correct input,
such as AV1 or AV2. If you’re unsure, select the
AV button on your TV Remote Control, until a
BT Vision screen display is presented.
• If you’re connecting via SCART through another
device, like a VCR or DVD recorder, check that
these devices are in Standby mode or switched on.
• Check that your SCART connections are securely
plugged in.
FAQs
Why are some or all of my digital TV channels
missing?
• Check that your Aerial Lead is correctly inserted
into both your wall Aerial Socket, and your
BT Vision V-box™.
• Your BT Vision V-box™ should be the first thing
your Aerial is plugged into.
• If you have multiple TVs connected around
the house, disconnect them. If this solves the
problem you’ll need to get a TV distribution
amplifier before connecting them again.
• If you’re having problems getting digital TV
you may need an Aerial Upgrade.
How do I connect my BT Vision V-box™ using HDMI?
• The BT Vision V-box™ is equipped with an HDMI
output, which can be connected to a suitably equipped
TV. Customers will need to supply their own HDMI lead.
• The BT Vision V-box™ supports the following High
Definition options: 720p and 1080i. The settings
for this can be found on the service by following
the instructions on p.39 of your User Guide, which
forms part of your BT Vision Welcome Pack.
• When a connection is made to the BT Vision V-box™
via HDMI, the other analogue audio/video outputs
(SCART, S-Video, RF channel) are disabled.

FAQs FAQs
FAQs
How to do I tell if my Powerline Adapters are
working correctly?
• When working normally, one of your Powerline
Adapters should be displaying the orange
AP Light, green Status Light and green
Ethernet Light.
• The other Powerline Adapter should have both
the green Status Lights and the green Ethernet
Light on.
• When the equipment is successfully attached the
Ethernet Light should be lit up, and when you’re
using the connection it will flash. You may notice
that the Status Light on your Powerline Adapter
light changes to red or orange on one or both
powerline devices. This isn’t something to worry
about as long as you aren’t having any problems
with your BT Vision service.
I have no lights on my Powerline Adapter, what
should I do?
• If you have plugged the Adapter into a mains
power socket but no lights are showing please
ensure that the power is switched on at the mains.
• If you have done this and no lights appear on the
device check the socket you are plugging it into
with another device in your house such as a table
lamp etc. If this device works but your Powerline
FAQs
Adapter still shows no lights then it is faulty.
Please call 0845 600 7030 for advice.
Both my Powerline Adapters show orange
AP Lights. Is this correct?
• No. Only one AP Light of the pair should be
orange. If both are orange, this is because both
your Powerline Adapters are set up as Access
Points. You will need to carry out the following to
rectify this issue:
Step 1
• Ensure that both Powerline Adapters are in close
proximity for this procedure as you may find you
have to move them into an extension strip or
double wall socket. Once reconfigured they can
be repositioned in their original location.
• Press and keep holding the [CONFIG/F RESET]
button on one of the Powerline Adapters. The
orange AP Light will start to flash. Keep holding
the [CONFIG/F RESET] button until the AP Light
goes out and then release it.
• This process should take about 10 seconds.

FAQs
Step 2
• Wait approx 20 – 30 seconds for the Powerline
Adapter to reboot (you may see the Status Light
(red) flash off then on again during this time).
• Next press the [CONFIG/F RESET] button on the
other Powerline Adapter until the AP light starts
flashing.
Step 3
• Now press the [CONFIG/F RESET] button again
on the first Powerline Adapter until the AP
Light starts flashing (make sure this is done
immediately after the second Powerline Adapter)
then release the [CONFIG/F RESET] button.
• After a few seconds, the Status Lights should go
green on both adapters and the AP Light on the
first adapter should be orange.
Step 4
• Both devices can now be repositioned in their
original position.
FAQs
FAQs
Both the AP Lights remain off on both Powerline
Adapters but the Status Lights are green or solid
red. Is this correct?
• No. If your Powerline Adpaters are showing two
green Status Lights but no AP Lights it means
both Powerline Adapters are set-up incorrectly.
• Also, If they are showing two solid red lights
and no AP Lights this is because the Powerline
Adapters are not correctly set-up and have no
connection. In either case you will need to carry
out the following to rectify this issue.
When
the orange AP Light starts to flash release the
button.
