Setting up the CAS PD-I
This document contains step-by-step instructions for setting up the CAS PD-I to work with CRE.
To connect the CAS PD-I to your computer, you need the following cable:
The CAS Part Number is: JPDB SHARP RS232 7880-PD0-4134 or IBM 7880-PD0-4128

Calibrating the CAS PD-I
To calibrate the scale, turn it off and follow these steps.
After making any of the following changes to the scale you will need to contact Weights and
Measures to make sure the scale are certified and weighing items properly.
1. Remove the calibration bolt and plate.
2. You will see three black micro-switches. Press
and hold down SW3.
3. Plug the scale in and turn it on. The power
button is located underneath the scale, to the
right of the micro-switches.
4. The weight display will flash “CAL” three times.
After this occurs, release SW3. You should see
“A-d 1” on the display.

5. Put the platter upside down (with the edges
facing up) and place it on the scale platform.
Make sure that the platter is pushed back far
enough as to allow access to all 3 micro-switches
and forward enough to be able to safely place 30
lb (or 15 kg) on the platter.
6. Make sure there is nothing on the platter and
press SW3 three times. You should see “CAPA”
and a number on the display. This number
determines the scale’s capacity:

7. Press SW4 to change the capacity and SW5 once
you have selected a capacity.

8. You should see “Unit” and a number on the
display. This number determines what unit the
scale will use:

9. Press SW4 to change the unit and SW5 once you
have selected a unit.
10. You should see “tyPE” and a number on the
display. This number determines the scale’s
interface type. Press SW4 until the number is 5.
11. Press SW5. “End” will be displayed, “CAL” will
flash three times, and then “A-d1” will be
displayed.

12. Turn the scale off and place the platter properly
on the platform.
13. Turn the scale on.
14. If all went well, the scale will do a test cycle and
display 0.00.
If this does not occur, turn the scale off, remove
the platter, and repeat steps 2-13 until it does.

15. Remove the platter.
16. Replace the calibration bolt and plate.
17. Replace the platter.

Connecting the CAS PD-I to your computer
To connect the CAS PD-I to your computer, you need the following cable:
The CAS Part Number is: JPDB SHARP RS232 7880-PD0-4134 or IBM 7880-PD0-4128
Turn off your computer and follow these steps:
1. Find the serial port on your computer.
2. Plug the serial cable connected to the scale into
the port.

Setting up the CAS PD-I to work with CRE
To set up the scale to work with CRE, turn on the computer, start CRE, select Manager, provide
the requested credentials, and follow these steps.
1. Select Setup and then Setup
Screen.
2. Select the Hardware tab.
3. Select the COM port that the
scale is connected to. Many
systems have labels on the
ports that contain this
information. If yours does
not, select COM 1. You may
need to select other COM
ports later if CRE does not
find the scale.
Enter the optional tare amount.
Leave at 0 if you do not want to
use a tare.
4. Select CAS PD-I or PD II for
“Primary Scale Type”.

5. Select Page 2.
6. Select the radio button next
to 30x.01 lb under “Scale
Weight Formatting”.
7. Select Scale.
8. Activate the scale feature
and select Done.
9. Select Update.
