Inspecting RJ5, RJ11 or USB cables
• Connect the cable to the applicable port, detach the remote meter unit and connect it to
the other end of the cable if the cable is already installed.
• Press [Test], release the button and read the LCD display.
Readouts when inspecting RJ45, RJ11 or USB cable
LCD Display:
1. [BATTERY GOOD/LOW] Battery check: Blue = good battery, Red = bad battery
2. [NO CONNECTION] Cable not connected.
3. [CROSSOVER] Lights when the tested cable is crossed (or parallel cable is faulty)
4. [CONNECTED] Lights when a parallel cable is tested.
5. [SHORT] Lights if the tested cable is short-circuited.
6. [S C/1 2...] “S” lights up if the cable is shielded.
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are short-circuited (if SHORT is lit),
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are OK (if CONNECTED or CROSSOVER is lit)
Inspecting BNC cable*
• Connect the cable to the applicable port, detach the remote meter unit and connect it to
the other end of the cable if the cable is already installed.
• Press [Test], release the button and read the LCD display.
LCD display when inspecting BNC cable
1. [BATTERY GOOD/LOW] Battery check: Blue = good battery, Red = bad battery
2. [NO TERMINATOR] Terminator not connected.
3. [50 OHM] Lights when a 50 OHM network is tested.
4. [25 OHM] Lights when a 25 OHM network is tested.
5. [SHORT] Lights if the tested cable is short-circuited.
6. [C/1 2...]
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are short-circuited (if SHORT is lit),
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are OK (if 50 OHM or 25 OHM is lit)
* Test 10BASE-2 terminator value: Disconnect all T connectors from their nodes, connect T
connector to the BNC port.
