Description
• Detachable unit for measuring at both ends.
• Indicates whether the cable is complete, broken or short-circuited.
• Indicates whether the cable is straight or crossed.
• Measures with one push of the button.
• Requires no special battery, operates on a 9 V alkaline battery (not included).
• Automatic shutdown
• Storage case included.
• Four different ports: RJ-45, RJ-11, USB and BNC (RJ-45, RJ-11 are gold-ashed 50µ)
• Max cable length 90 m (300 ft)
• BNC Terminator included.
Warning! Never connect the network tester to a network which is in use and is active,
release the cables before testing them.
Insert a 9 V battery (not included) into the battery compartment on the back.

Inspecting RJ5, RJ11 or USB cables
• Connect the cable to the applicable port, detach the remote meter unit and connect it to
the other end of the cable if the cable is already installed.
• Press [Test], release the button and read the LCD display.
Readouts when inspecting RJ45, RJ11 or USB cable
LCD Display:
1. [BATTERY GOOD/LOW] Battery check: Blue = good battery, Red = bad battery
2. [NO CONNECTION] Cable not connected.
3. [CROSSOVER] Lights when the tested cable is crossed (or parallel cable is faulty)
4. [CONNECTED] Lights when a parallel cable is tested.
5. [SHORT] Lights if the tested cable is short-circuited.
6. [S C/1 2...] “S” lights up if the cable is shielded.
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are short-circuited (if SHORT is lit),
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are OK (if CONNECTED or CROSSOVER is lit)
Inspecting BNC cable*
• Connect the cable to the applicable port, detach the remote meter unit and connect it to
the other end of the cable if the cable is already installed.
• Press [Test], release the button and read the LCD display.

1. [BATTERY GOOD/LOW] Battery check: Blue = good battery, Red = bad battery
2. [NO TERMINATOR] Terminator not connected.
3. [50 OHM] Lights when a 50 OHM network is tested.
4. [25 OHM] Lights when a 25 OHM network is tested.
5. [SHORT] Lights if the tested cable is short-circuited.
6. [C/1 2...]
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are short-circuited (if SHORT is lit),
• “C/1-8” Shows which wires are OK (if 50 OHM or 25 OHM is lit)
* Test 10BASE-2 terminator value: Disconnect all T connectors from their nodes, connect T
connector to the BNC port.

Inspecting Telecommunications Cable
• Connect the cable to the RJ11 port on both the Master unit and Remote unit.
• Detach the remote unit and connect it to the other end of the cable if the cable is already
installed.
• Press [Test], release the button and read the LCD display.

1. [BATTERY GOOD/LOW] Battery check: Blue = good battery, Red = bad battery
2. [NO CONNECTION] Cable not connected.
3. [NON-PARALLEL] Lights if the cable is OK
4. [CONNECTED] Lights if the cable is OK
5. [SHORT] Lights if the tested cable is short-circuited.
6. [C/1 2...] “C/1-8” Shows which wires are OK (should be 4 or 6)
Inspecting USB cable (USB A male to USB B male)
• Connect the cable to the USB (B) port on the Master unit and to the USB (A) on the
remote unit.
• Detach the remote unit and connect it to the other end of the cable if the cable is already
installed.
• Press [Test], release the button and read the LCD display.

1. [BATTERY GOOD/LOW] Battery check: Blue = good battery, Red = bad battery
2. [NO CONNECTION] Cable not connected.
3. [CONNECTED] Lights if the cable is OK
4. [SHORT] Lights if the tested cable is short-circuited.
5. [S C/1 2...] “C/1 – 8” Shows which wires are OK (S, 1, 2, 3 and 4 light up if all the wires
are OK).

andra ände om kabeln redan är installerad.
• Tryck in [Test], släpp knappen och avläs sedan lysdiodindikeringen.

• Koble kabel til aktuell port. Løsne den avtakbare målemodulen og koble den i kabelens
andre ende, dersom kabelen allerede er installert.
• Trykk inn [Test], slipp knappen og les deretter av lysdiodeindikeringen.

Lysdiodeindikering:
1. [BATTERY GOOD/LOW] Batterikontroll: Blå = bra batterikapasitet, Rød = dårlig batterikapasitet.
2. [NO CONNECTION] Kabel ikke tilkoblet.
3. [CROSSOVER] Lyser for testet kryssende kabel (eller defekt parallell kabel).
4. [CONNECTED] Lyser for testet parallell kabel.
5. [SHORT] Lyser hvis kabelen er kortsluttet.
6. [S C/1 2...] ”S” lyser dersom kabelen er skjermet.
• ”C/1 – 8” Viser hvilke ledere som er kortsluttet (dersom SHORT lyser),

• Koble kabel til aktuell port, løsne den avtakbare målemodulen og koble den i kabelens
andre ende, dersom kabelen allerede er installert.
• Trykk inn [Test] og slipp knappen. Les deretter av lysdiodeindikeringen.
