This equipment fulfils the requirements of the EU standard 89/336/EWG
(EN 55022, EN 55024).
Therefore this equipment is CE-labelled.
Please keep this description in safe custody!
Application:
With regard to the CE mark, the Intercom Server is suitable for the following types of application: residen-
tial buildings, office and commercial premises, small businesses and industrial premises with public low-
voltage mains supply.
Attention:
Mounting and installation of the Intercom Servers and of the equipment may be carried out by authorised
service personnel only.
Cards may be exchanged only with voltage switched off.
Before exchanging of cards, ESD precautions must be observed.

Planning Information
The digital heavy industrial stations series EE 8000 are especially
designed for the rough and heavy duty environment of industry,
e.g. steel industry, chemical industry, refineries, ships, harbour
equipment etc.
Further applications are: sluices, medium industrial companies,
with high mechanical stress and noise.

Volume level adjustable according to noise (manual and automatic 2-way volume control)
Measurement of the ambient noise level via the internal microphone.

Concept and Components
The modular Concept
The modular concept of this system allows a flexible, customer specific configuration of digital heavy
industrial stations. There are modules for dialling, modules with inscribable direct dialling buttons,
microphone modules and a loudspeaker module.
Module Code
Besides standard stations (see page 12), it is possible to configure industrial stations with individual
module combinations according to the so called module code.
Each module, as well as each housing has a specific code (see “List of Module Codes”), from which the
type designation of the configured industrial station can be derived.
Attention: For the module combinations the limitations on page 11 must be considered.
The type designation is made up of the following codes (Example: standard station EE 8158M):

Basic and Expansion Housings
One basic and two expansion housings can be combined. Thus, industrial stations with up to 50 freely
programmable direct dialling buttons can be configured.
The modules (see page 7) are connected to the PCB of the housing and can be combined according to
the possibilities listed in the table on page 11.
Basic housing EE 8999M
Basic housing EE 8999M with 3 module slots; includes
electronics, with expansion openings and covers

Basic housing EE 8999M-SOS
Basic housing EE 8999M-SOS with 3 module slots;
includes electronics, with “SOS“ print on both sides.
No expansion openings on the sides.

Expansion housing EE 8999S
Expansion housing EE 8999S with 3 module slots, includes
electronics, with expansion openings and covers.
Up to 2 expansion housings can be combined with one basic
housing.
The cabling, also for multiple housings, is done with only 2 wires
to the Intercom Server and 2 wires to the power supply.

Note: The mounting material EE 8999-KIT for the mounting of
the expansion housing is available separately.
Empty housing EDI 600
Basic housing without electronics. The empty housing can be
used for installation of cable distributors, additional electronics,
etc.

In total, 11 different modules for the modular concept of the digital heavy industrial series EE 8000 are
available.

Loudspeaker module EM 650
Loudspeaker module for industrial stations. The loudspeaker features high sound pressure and ex-
cellent speech intelligibility.

Standard Stations
4 different standard stations of the digital heavy industrial stations series EE 8000 are available.
Industrial station EE 8158M
Industrial master station with 6 programmable LED direct dialling
buttons, as well as integrated loudspeaker, universal microphone
and 2 programmable LED buttons.
The DSP provides the possibility, to use a single microphone with
omnidirectional and noise-cancelling characteristics. For labelling
of the buttons exchangeable tags are included.
Industrial station EE 8148M
Industrial master station with 6 programmable direct dialling
buttons, as well as integrated loudspeaker, universal microphone
and 2 programmable LED buttons.
The DSP provides the possibility, to use a single microphone with
omnidirectional and noise-cancelling characteristics. For labelling
of the buttons exchangeable tags are included.

Industrial sub-station with “SOS“ print, integrated loudspeaker,
universal microphone, 1 LED button and a big red mushroom
button with “SOS“ print. Both buttons can be programmed with
various functions.
The DSP provides the possibility, to use a single microphone with
omnidirectional and noise-cancelling characteristics.
Without lateral expansion openings.

Mounting Notes
Regardless if a single industrial station or a combination of stations in vertical or horizontal order is
used:
The station(s) shall be mounted in a way, that the microphone is about 1.40 m (4.6 ft) above the floor.
Please adapt the mounting height to the individual needs.
Note: Two expansion housings EE 8999S can be combined with one basic housing EE 8999M.
Horizontal Combination of Stations and/or Single Station
The upper edge of the station(s) about 1.65 m (5.4 ft) from the
finished floor:
The microphone thus is about 1.40 m (4.6 ft) above the floor.
Vertical Combination of Stations
Regardless if a combination of 2 or 3 stations is used:
The microphone shall be located about 1.40 m (4.6 ft) above the
floor.
Attention:
Do not expose the station to extreme temperature (below –20° C or above +70° C / –4° F to 158° F)

Outdoor mounting
In case of outdoor mounting, it is recommended to cut out the
two water outlets on the bottom of the housing.
Mounting instruction “combination of housings”
For the mounting of housings (an EE 8999S to an EE 8999M) the mounting material EE 8999-KIT is used
Space between EE 8999S and EE 8999M: 4 mm (0.16 inch).
Note: The mounting kit EE 8999-KIT is not in the extent of the supply

Mounting Microphone Modules
Installation of microphone modules in basic housing EE 8999M only!
Use of the microphone modules in bottom module place only!
Note: For use of the different microphone modules, the correct jumper positions must be set, see
page 24.
Mounting the Loudspeaker Module
Installation in housings EE 8999M, EE 8999S and EDI 600.
Note: The loudspeaker module EM 650 can be installed in EE 8999S and EDI 600, but it has to be
connected to the EE 8999M. The wires for the connection of the EM 650 can be led through the expan-
sion openings of the EE 8999M and EE 8999S.
Therefore the expansion openings have to be broken out previously.
Use of the loudspeaker module in top module place only!
Mounting Button Modules
Installation in basic housing EE 8999M and expansion housing EE 8999S.
Attention: Button module EM 605 cannot be used in combination with microphone modules EM 660,
EM 6B0!
Use of button modules is possible in each of the 3 module places.
Mounting Dummy Modules
Installation in housings EE 8999M, EE 8999S and EDI 600.
Use of dummy modules is possible in each of the 3 module places.
