MOUNTING:
1.The PlateCam™RearVisionSystemusesasuperwide-anglelensforbestall around
performance.TheCamerawill displaythefull widthofmostparkingspacesup to6feetor
evenwider.
2.The PlateCamisdesigned toworkbeston vehiclesthathavealicenseplatelocated atthe
centerand abovetherearbumper.If yourvehiclehasaplatelocation thatisoffsettothe left
side,rightside,oryourplateislocatedunderthe bumperthen thePlateCam™maynot
provideoptimumperformance.
3.Thedesignoftheframe(or“Bar”) itselfallowsthe cameratobeangledtowardstherear
“Blind Spot”behind thevehicle.Insomecasesadjustmentmaybenecessary.Anoptional
slottedadjusterbracket isavailableseparatelytoadjust yourframe(orbar).
CAMERA:
1.The Camerahasbuilt-incircuitrytoreversethe imagesoobjectsontherightofvehicle
appearon therightandobjectsontheleftappearon the left when lookingatastandard
monitor.(See ReverseImaging next sectionformoreinformation.)
2.The colorCCD cameraismaintenance-free, waterproof andvibrationresistant.
3.The cameraisNOTanightvisionInfra-redcamera,howeverthebackuplightsonyour
vehicleand/oranyambientlightintheareashouldallowthe systemtostill be usefulatnight
inmostinstallations.
4.The cameraiscompletelyelectronic.ThereareNO manualadjustmentsforfocus,etc.
REVERSE (MIRROR)IMAGING:
The PlateCam’sCamerahasbuilt-incircuitryto“mirror” the imagesoobjectsonthe rightofvehicle
appearon the rightand objectsontheleftappearon theleftwhenlooking atastandardmonitor.If
yourexistingmonitororin-dashmonitorhasareversecamerainput wherethemonitoritselfperforms
the mirrorimage,thenyourpicturewill notbe correct. Thisisduetothefactthe image isbeing
mirrored bytheplatecam and mirrored byyourmonitor.Check tosee if youcancontrolthesettings
inyourmonitortoturnoff themirrorimage feature.If youdonot, thenyourequirea”NormalImage”
cameramodule.TheNormalImage moduleisnotincludedinthekitand mustbe purchased
separately.
PICTUREQUALITY:
The 1/3”CCD cameraprovidesthebestqualitypictureavailable.Objectsonthemonitorarecloser
thantheyactuallyappear.
WIRING:
1.Carefullychooseahiddenout-of-sightlocation[possiblybehindtheplate]fordrilling the cable
hole.Somevehiclesmayhavean existinghidden rubbergrommetorplugavailabletoavoid
havingtodrill intothebody.Besuretodouble-check foranywiring orobstructionsbehind the
surfacewhereyouaregoingtodrill thecablehole.Usetherubbergrommet(included oncable)
tomakeawatertightsealforthecablewhereitpassesintothevehicle.
2.Chooseaconvenientplacetorunthecameracableuptheleft,rightorcenterofthe vehicle.As
aruleof thumb,trytoavoidmainfactoryharness loomsthatmaycontainhigh levelsorRFnoise
orinterference.
3.Asatime-saver,youcanconnectthecamerapowerattherearofthevehiclebehindthereverse
lights.TheWhitepowerwiregoestoReverseLight +12V,andtheBlack wiretoGround.
4.Run thevideo cabletoyourmonitor’svideo inputorreversecamerainput.
5.The minipowerplug isdesigned forusewithanoptionalSecurViewSV-70003-in/4-outAudio
Videoswitcherwithareversecameraport.Ifyou arenotusingtheSV-7000 simplycutoff the 2-
pinplugand connect theRed wiretoReverse(12V)powerand connect theblack wiretoChassis
ground.
