Precautions
WARNING: Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of
unknow quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Systems
certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected waters that may contain
filterable cysts.
CAUTION: This filter must be protected from freezing, which can cause cracking
of the filter and water leakage.
NOTE:
• For cold water use only (when in the filtered water position).
• Make certain that installation of this system complies with all state and local
laws and regulations.
• The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by this water
treatment device are not necessarily in your water.
• The filter cartridge has a limited service life. Changes in taste, odor, and/or
flow of the water being filtered indicate that the cartridge should be replaced.
• After prolonged periods of non-use (such as during a vacation), it is
recommended that the system be flushed thoroughly. Let water run for 5
minutes before using.
Selecting the Correct Faucet
Adapter
(1) From the adapter kit, select the large adapter with the internal threads (Fig.1).
(2) Select one of the larger rubber washers and place it securely inside of the larg-
er adapter (Fig. 2).
(3) Remove the aerator from your faucet and determine the type of faucet threads:
A. External threads: Use the larger adapter and washer by themselves.
B. Internal threads: Through trial and error, select the smaller adapter (with
external threads) that fits your faucet. Make sure there is a washer located
inside the larger adapter, then screw the smaller adapter into the large
adapter and tighten it securely. (Fig. 3).
NOTE: Adapters are included which will fit most faucets. To create a tight seal, you
may need to use the gasket from your faucet’s aerator in addition to the washers
included with the adapters. If the adapters do not fit, it is recommended that you
consult your local plumbing or hardware supplier for assistance in obtaining the
correct thread adapter.

Replacing the Filter Cartridge
TheCulligan FM-5Monitored WaterFaucet lastsup to

NOTE: A reduction in flow or pressure of the filtered
water will also require filter replacement.
(A) Move the 3-way spray handle to one of the
UNFILTERED positions.
NOTE:If the handleis in the filtered position, the
cartridgewill not release(Fig.A).
(B) Tilt the filter cartridge away and pull away from
filter body (Fig. B). Discard filter cartridge.
(C) Follow #6 under "Installing the Filter"
(D)After removing old filter cartridge, gently pull to
remove monitor from top of cartridge. DO NOT
TWIST MONITOR OFF OF FILTER (Fig. C). Discard
cartridge. DO NOT discard monitor.
(E) Push reset button on underside of monitor. Line up
the INSTALL arrow on the monitor with the REMOVE
arrow on the filter and gently snap the monitor onto
the new filter cartridge (Fig. D).
NOTE: Be sure to line up arrows before attaching
monitor to filter cartridge. Failure to do so may damage
the monitor.
(F) Follow #6 under "Installing the Filter"
NOTE: It is important to flush each new cartridge for 10 minutes to remove loose
carbon fines (the fines are not harmful, but should be flushed out before using the
filtered water). Allow the filter to flush for three seconds before each use.
Troubleshooting
Water drips from filter cartridge at point of attachment to filter body.
Make sure gasket is located between cartridge and point of attachment.
Water flows slowly or unevenly.
Filter cartridge is plugged. Replace cartridge.
Filtered and non-filtered water flows at the same time.
Rubber balls inside filter body need to be replaced. Call technical support at
1-800-645-5426 for details.
Valve handle detaches from filter body.
Filter body needs to be replaced. Call technical support for details.
Filter monitor lights stay on even after water has been turned off.
1. Gently pull monitor off of filter cartridge. DO NOT twist monitor off.
2. Gently press the three brass prongs on the filter cartridge downward.
3. Replace filter cartridge. Turn water on and off. If problem persists, repeat
process or call technical support at 1-800-645-5426.
Filtermonitor lights do notturn on at all.
1. Gently pull monitor off of filter cartridge. DO NOT twist monitor off.
2. Gently lift the three brass prongs on the filter cartridge upward.
3. Replace filter cartridge. Turn water on and off. If problem persists, repeat
process or call technical support at 1-800-645-5426.
Afterfiltercartridgeisreplaced,raindropsonfiltermonitorarestillfilledin(full).
Remove monitor and press reset button under cap. Replace monitor.
Installing the Filter
(4) Unscrew and remove the attachment collar from the
filter body. Slide the collar over the end of the
faucet with threads toward you. Screw the adapter
you have selected into the faucet and tighten
securely (Fig. 4). If the smaller adapter is used,
place the second washer into the adapter before
screwing it into the faucet.
(5) Slide collar over adapter and screw onto filter body
(Fig. 5a).
NOTE: Make sure screen and gasket are installed in
filter body before installing on faucet (Fig. 5b).
(6) Make sure the valve handle is set to one of the
UNFILTERED positions (the filled in drop or multiple
filled-in drops) (Fig. 6a). Turn the filter cartridge
horizontally to the filter body so that the top of the
filter is facing away from you. Insert the stem of the
cartridge into the filter body and tilt the cartridge
upright until it clicks into position (Fig. 6b).
Using the Filter
The Culligan Faucet Mount Filter features a unique 3-way
spray valve handle. Turn on your faucet, then use the
handle to select:
(7) A stream of UNFILTERED tap water
(8) A spray of UNFILTERED tap water
(9) A spray of FILTERED water (cold water only).
NOTE: It is important to flush each new filter cartridge for
10 minutes to remove loose carbon fines (the fines are not
harmful, but should be flushed out before using the filtered
water).Allowfilter toflushfor threeseconds before eachuse.
CAUTION: Do not filter hot water above 100° (37.8°C).
It will damage the filter cartridge.
Reading the Filter
Life Monitor
When you remove your FM-5 Monitored Faucet Mount
Filter from the box, the monitor display will be blank (in
the "off" position). Install the filter on your faucet, turn on
the faucet, and turn the valve handle to the FILTERED
water position (see diagramunder "Usingthe Filter").The
monitorwill automaticallyturn itselfon. TheLED display
shouldshow theword "ON"and 4hollow waterdrops (seeFig. 9).
As you continue to use your filter, the 4 hollow drops will begin to fill in, one by
one, from right to left. After 120 gallons have been filtered—approximately 2
months for a typical family of four—the monitor will show all 4 drops filled in
and the monitor display will flash. This indicates that it is time to change the filter
cartridge (see instructions under "Replacing the Filter Cartridge".)
The monitor is operated by a lifetime battery—no replacement necessary. To
maximize the life of your filter monitor DO NOT remove the monitor except when
replacing the filter cartridge.

this system with your actual water treatment needs. It is recommended that,
before installing a water treatment system, you have your water supply tested to
determine your actual water treatment needs.
This system has been tested according to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 for reduction of the

Two-Year Limited Warranty
Culligan warrants your Culligan Faucet Water Filter System for two years from the date of purchase (except for the FM-5R replacement filter, which is warranted for 30 days) against all defects in materials
and workmanship, when used in compliance with the Operating Instructions. Culligan disclaims all implied warranties, including without limitation, warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular
purpose.
If for any reason the product proves to be defective within two years from the date of purchase, return it to the retailer from whom it was purchased for exchange, or if you do not receive a satisfactory
resolution, ship the unit to the address below and the entire system will be repaired or replaced without charge. Please package your Culligan unit carefully to avoid damage in transit.

Precauciones
ADVERTENCIA: no use con agua que es peligrosa microbiologicamente o es
de una calidad desconocida sin desinfectarla adecuadamente antes y/o después del
sistema. Sistemas los cuales han sido certificados para la reducción de quistes, se
pueden usar en aguas desinfectadas que pueden contener quistes filtrables.
PRECAUCIÓN: este filtro tiene que protegerse contra congelación. Falta de
hacerlo puede resultar en grietas en el filtro causando goteras.

• Para uso con agua fria solamente (cuando esta filtrando agua)

Como seleccionar el adaptador
correcto para su grifo
(1) Seleccione el adaptador más grande con roscas internas (fig. 1) del conjunto
de accesorios de adaptadores (Fig. 1).
(2) Seleccione una de las arandelas más grandes y póngala nivelada y asegurada-
mente dentro del adaptador más grande (Fig. 2).
(3) Quite el aerador de su grifo y determine el tipo de roscas del grifo:
A.Roscasexternas:utilice eladaptador yla arandelamás grandessolamente.
B. Roscas internas: por medio de tanteo seleccione un adaptador pequeño
(con roscas externas) que ajuste en su grifo. Asegúrese de tener una arandela
localizada dentro del adaptador más grande, y entonces atornille el adaptador
más pequeño dentro del adaptador más grande y aprietelo aseguradamente
(Fig. 3).
NOTA: adaptadores que ajustan la mayoría de grifos son incluídos. Para obtener

Como Leer el Monitor
Cuando usted saca el filtro para uso en el grifo de la caja
modelo FM-5 con monitor, el despliegue del monitor está
en blanco (en una posición sin funcionamiento). Instale el
filtro en el grifo, habra el agua, y gire la manija a la posi-
ción DE FILTRAR (mire el diagrama bajo "Usando el fil-
tro"). El monitor empieza a funcionar automáticamente. El
despliegue LED debe demostrar la palabra "ON" y cuatro gotas vacias de agua
(mire el diagrama).
A medida que usted continúa usando el filtro, las cuatro gotas de agua empezaran
a llenarsen, una por una, de la derecha a la izquierda. Después de que usted haya
filtrado 120 galones o 456 litros (aproximadamente 3 meses en una familia de
cuatro personas). El monitor demostrará cuatro gotas llenas y el monitor le da una
señal de destellos. Esto indica que es tiempo de reemplazar el cartucho filtrante
(mire las instrucciones bajo "Como Reemplazar el Cartucho Filtrante").
El monitor funciona con una batería permanente (no la tiene que reemplazar).
Para maximar la duración útil del monitor para el filtro, USTED DEBE QUITAR EL
MONITOR ÚNICAMENTE cuando reemplaza el cartucho filtrante.
Reemplazando el Cartucho
Filtrante
El filtro Culligan FM-5 para uso en el grifo dura hasta
120 galones, / 456 litros o más o menos 2 meses.
Cuando todas las gotas en el monitor están LLENAS,
usted necesita reemplazar el cartucho filtrante. El cartu-
cho filtrante de reemplazo para el FM-5 es el FM-5R.
NOTA: reducción del flujo o presión en el agua que
está filtrando es otra indicación de que usted tiene que
reemplazar el cartucho filtrante.
(A) Ponga la manija del rociador en la posición sin filtrar.
NOTA: si usted tiene la manija en posición de filtrar,
usted no va a poder quitar el cartucho filtrante (Fig. A).
(B) Dele 1/4 de vuelta al cartucho filtrante para quitar-
lo de la junta del filtro (Fig. B). Deseche del cartu-
cho filtrante usado.
(C) Siga el paso #6 bajo "Instalando el filtro".
(D) Después de quitar el cartucho filtrante usado, lev-
ante suavemente el monitor de la tapa del cartucho
filtrante. NO LE DE VUELTAS AL MONITOR PARA
QUITARLO (Fig. C). Deseche del cartucho filtrante y
guarde el monitor.
(E) Oprima el botón de reajuste localizado en la parte
inferior del monitor. Tiene que alinear la flecha
debajo de la palabra INSTALL (en la parte de atrás
del monitor), con la flecha encima de la palabra REMOVE (en la parte de atrás
de cartucho filtrante) y suavemente juntelos hasta que oiga un chasquido.
NOTA: asegúrese de alinear las flechas del monitor con el cartucho filtrante, o
usted puede dañar el monitor.
NOTA: es muy importante fluir el cartucho filtrante nuevo por 10 minutos para
quitar los pedazos finos de carbón (los cuales son inocuos pero se deben eliminar
antes de usar el agua filtrada). Deje que el agua corra for 3 segundos antes de
cada uso.
(F) Siga el paso #6 bajo "Instalando el filtro".
Instalando el filtro
(4) Destornille y quite el collar del montaje del filtro.
Inserte el collar sobre la punta del grifo con las
roscas hacia usted. Atornille el adaptador que usted
ha seleccionado entre el grifo aseguradamente (Fig.
4). Si se utiliza el adaptador más pequeño, coloque
la segunda arandela en el adaptador antes de
atornillarlo en el grifo.
(5) Inserte el collar sobre el adaptador y atornillelo al
montaje del filtro (Fig. 5A)
NOTA: asegúrese de que la rejilla y la arandela están
instaladas en el montaje (Fig. 5B) antes de atornillarlo
al grifo.
(6) Asegúrese de que la manija con válvula apunta a
una posición SIN filtrar (la gota llena o las ocho
gotas llenas) (Fig. 6A). Gire el cartucho filtrante
horizontalmente al montaje del filtro de manera que
la tapa del cartucho filtrante no apunte hacia usted.
Inserte el vástago en el cartucho filtrante entre el
montaje con un rociador de tres estilos, controlados
con una válvula en la manija, hasta cuando escuche
un clic indicandole que está en la posición correcta (Fig. 6B).
Usando el Filtro
El cartucho filtrante Culligan®para uso en su grifo tiene
una manija con una válvula la cual tiene una característica
única de un rociador con tres estilos. Simplemente abra el
grifo y gire la manija para seleccionar el estilo rociador que
usted desea:
1. Chorro sin agua filtrada
2. Rociador sin agua filtranda
3. Rociador con agua filtrada (solamente para uso con
agua fria)
NOTA: es muy importante fluir los cartuchos filtrantes
nuevos por 10 minutos para quitar los pedazos muy finos
de carbón (los cuales son inocuos pero se deben eliminar
antes de usar el agua filtrada). Deje que el agua corra por
tres segundos antes de cada uso.
PRECAUCIÓN: no filtre agua que es más caliente de
100°F/37.8°C porque dañará el cartucho filtrante.

Este sistema ha sido probado de acuerdo a las normas NSF/ANSI 42 y 53 para la
reducción de las substancias indicadas a continuación. La concentración de las
substancias indicadas en el agua entrante al sistema se redujo a una concentración
inferior o igual al límite permitido para el agua que sale del sistema, según se
especifica en las normas NSF/ANSI 42 y 53.
ADVERTENCIA: no use con agua que es peligrosa microbiologicamente o es
de una calidad desconocida sin
desinfectarla adecuadamente antes y después del sistema. Sistemas los cuales han
