Getting the Most From Your BigLeash™emote Trainer
■Appropriate and Proper Use
As with any training program, appropriate an proper use of the training
tools is irectly relate to the success of the training.
•The remote trainer is not a short cut or a “punishment” tool. It shoul
be use to train your og to avoi unwante behavior an to reinforce the
training, not as a way to punish him for ba behavior.
•Keep your training sessions short, especially early in the training. As your
og learns, he will respon more quickly an training sessions may be
exten e .
•The use of a voice comman in conjunction with the remote trainer will vary
with the situation an your training goal. See examples of some specific
behaviors an suggeste training techniques in the next section.
•Always begin with a low intensity level until you etermine the
appropriate level for your og.
•In the early stages of training, most ogs respon to the first or secon
brief correction (correction button ‘B’). Some ogs may nee a few more
brief corrections (or a higher intensity level) epen ing on the og’s
personality an level of excitement or istraction.
•For some behaviors - such as chasing or barking - a continuous correction
(correction button ‘C’) of several secon s may initially be nee e .
•The goal is for your og to un erstan that he can avoi the stimulation by
respon ing appropriately .
•Do not let your pet know that it is you giving him the correction. Keep the
transmitter “hi en” (i.e., o not make it obvious you are using the
transmitter as part of the correction process).
■Keeping Your Dog From Becoming “Collar-Wise”
•Do not let your og become “collar-wise”. Before you begin training, walk
your og on his tra itional leash while wearing The BigLeash collar. Do this
for a few ays before you begin training so your og will not learn to
associate the collar with training corrections.
•When you begin training, have your og wear the collar for a sufficient
perio before and after the training session so that he oes not associate
the collar with the training corrections.
•Have your og continue to wear the collar whenever you work with him for
at least a month even after he seems to be traine . It is goo to have the
collar on the og in case he nee s an occasional remin er.
