Fixing Instructions
Technical Data RMZ
TInput: 230 V AC +10% / –15%
120 mA / 28 VA / 50 Hz
Output: 24 V DC / 460 mA / 11 W
Type of protection: IP 30
Protection class: II
Smoke switch: 24 V DC / 50 mA
Temperature: –20°C / +40°C
Rel. air humidity: max. 93% without condensation
Technical Data EMF
Operating voltage: 24 V DC
Power input: 1,4 W (GSR EMR2 = 2,8 W)
Rated for continuous
duty: 100% ED
Release torque: approx. 25 – 65 Nm at an opening
angle of 90° (dependent upon the
strength setting of the door closer).
Door opening angle: max. 120°
The unit is controlled by the RMZ smoke detector.
Work on electrical equipment and systems may only be
performed by properly trained specialist personnel.
•Check to ensure that the line power supply (230 V AC)
has been disconnected and is no longer live.
•10A/B miniature circuit breaker must be provided in
the supply circuit. This can also be used as the isolator
for disconnecting the RMZ and making it dead.
•The power cable leading to the RMZ must be properly
secured to ensure effective strain relief.
•The power cable (NYM) conductor cross section should
not be greater than max. 1.5 mm2. The PE conductor
is not electrically utilised. The terminal (PE) should,
however, be used where a PE conductor is provided.
•Fire/smoke detectors controlling hold-open systems
must not be used to actuate any further alarm devices
(e.g. fire alarm transmission systems). +1)
•If the optional alarm module is installed, the cable
connecting it to the smoke switch must be led over and
across the measurement chamber in order to ensure
that smoke penetration is in no way hindered.
Approval certification
The G-SR has been approved by the State Material Testing
Authority, Dortmund, for use on double (two-leaf) fire/smoke
check doors in Germany.
A separate approval certificate is required in conjunction
with the fire/smoke check door concerned (e.g. where
DIN standards apply) – check local regulations.

ÀRMZ smoke detector
ÁElectro-magnetic hold-open device
ÂRM smoke detector
ÃDORMA HT manual release pushbutton
for hold-open devices (optional).
This pushbutton must not be concealed by the door when
in its hold-open position. + 1)
a Installation arrangement of the RMZ lintel-
mounted smoke detector for applications where
the bottom surface of the ceiling is less than
1 m above the bottom edge of the lintel on one or
both sides of the door. +1)
See separate sheet for associated connection diagrams.
b If the bottom surface of the ceiling is more than 1 m
above the bottom edge of the lintel on one or both
sides of the door, two ceiling-mounted smoke detectors
must be installed in addition to the lintel-mounted
detector. +1)
See separate sheet for associated connection diagrams.
Drill all the fixing holes for the closer, slide channel
and base unit.
Drill holes for the 12 mm dia. 230 V AC power
feed cable by others and for 10 mm dia. cabling for
connection of any ceiling-mounted smoke detectors
and manual pushbuttons.
Under certain structural conditions, a cable lead-in
from the rear may not be possible due to the type of
door profile/frame section used.
1a Direct fixing
1b Fixing with mounting backplate
Adjust centre backplate.
Fix mounting backplates.
The slide channels are non-handed, i.e. suitable
for LH and RH doors.
The following describes the fixing process for a
right-handed (ISO 5) active leaf. The procedure for
a left-handed (ISO 6) active leaf should be adapted
accordingly.
2a Fix inactive leaf slide channel.

3a Lead EMF cable from inactive leaf and cable supplied
3b for connecting the RMZ through/in behind the base
unit, using the clips in the base unit to hold both
cables in place À.
Lead all other cables through the base unit Áand fix
base unit in place Â. Ready for mounting the RMZ.
Secure cables to frame to prevent damage during the
installation work Ã.
4a Fix active leaf slide channel.
4b
Fit the closer body and arm in accordance with the
TS 93 G fixing instructions, and adjust both door
closers as required.
Depending on the structural conditions, it may be
necessary to limit the door opening angle.
In order to avoid damage to the door and the door
closer, position a door stop accordingly (see also
TS 93 G Fixing Instructions, Fig. 12).
For door leaves with electro-mechanical hold-open the
following applies: The door can be opened up to the
selected hold-open point; it is at this point that a door
stop should be fitted.
5 Measure dimension X À.
Shorten connecting rod to X-41 mm Á.
6 Close both door leaves À Á.
Press lever with roller against the door Âand tighten
the Allen screw Ã.
Remove screw Ä.
