Frequently Asked Questions
COSTS Why do I save costs when using Dräger X-dock?
The daily test is important – but it costs time and money. Especially the as
consumption plays an important part. The often used flow of 500ml/min and
test periods of e. . 60 seconds result in a hi h as consumption. For instance,
1000 tests carried out usin these parameters would result in a consumption of
500 liters of as!
The Drä er X-dock has ot typical openin times for the as supply valves with
a fast as application test of 10 seconds or even less for ases such as CH4, O2,
CO and H2S. In addition, it uses a flow of 300ml/min. With these parameters
a consumption of 50 liters with 1000 tests is achieved which means savin 90%
of as compared to the volumes mentioned above.
X-dock does not waste as: When the value is reached the valves are closed
immediately.

SOFTWARE What are the benefits of using a central database?
The Drä er X-dock saves all data locally. But when usin a central database
all pieces of information can be viewed directly without havin to collect
data laboriously. The data can be saved easily and processed for analysis.
The functionalities of the Drä er X-dock Mana er support you in this.
The Standard version offers a user administration the so-called Cockpit
(overview of the important parameters of the as detection instrument ran e),
the administration of the as detection instruments and the stations.
The Professional Version additionally offers an issue and return function for the
as detection instruments for the users and the report assistant which prepares
different overviews and reports also periodically and sends them e. . by e-mail.
What is the difference between the X-dock Manager Standard and the Professional Version?
The database and the database mana ement are free of char e – even if you
use it to link different X-dock stations.
The “Client Software”, the Drä er X-dock mana er is liable to cost. A license must
be purchased once, however, a 30-days test license is available free of char e.
The X-dock Mana er processes the data of the system, prepares reports and
supports you in keepin an eye on everythin .

Frequently Asked Questions
SOFTWARE What do I have to consider when installing the PC Software?
With the simplest installation variant there is not much to consider: You only have
to enter the IP of the computer/server you use and assi n an IP to the system.
It is important to ensure that no firewall blocks the data communication.
For further information please contact your Drä er representative.
In the extended version you can also chan e the ports used and you may also
use your existin database later, if applicable.
One possibility is to use an USB stick. When lo ed in, all available certificates
and datalo er can be copied onto the stick via the menu.
How can I access the data of the station, if I do not use an X-dock Manager?
HOME
 
Yes. As of now apart from Ecal Drae erware as well supports the X-dock. To do
so, the server part of the X-dock software must be installed and the Drae erware
confi ured accordin ly. As soon as this was done Drae erware automatically
receives the test results of the as detection instruments and the evaluations
can be done via the Drae erware as usual.
Does Draegerware also support X-dock?
This test method is used to confi ure an automatically executed test process, for
example, runnin a test every day at 7:30 in the mornin . This means supported
devices are char ed at ni ht for an early mornin automated start and test.
Which function does the scheduler offer?

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I view the read out dataloggers of the gas detection instruments?
You can open the datalo er with the CC Vision which is free of char e
and thus convert it into a text file. The more comfortable way would be to
use Gas Vision. Via the X-dock Mana er a direct link is already available
to open and view datalo ers with Gas Vision.
For the time bein CC Vision will remain the tool to confi ure the as detection
instruments. However, from now on CC Vision is available free of char e.
For the time bein Gas Vision will remain the tool to visualize the datalo ers
and to support you with the analysis.
For the time bein means that in the medium term both software are to be
transferred to the X-dock Mana er.
Do I still need CC Vision and Gas Vision?
CC-Vision may be used to set measured as, calibration as and bump test as
if the device supports this functionality. X-dock then searches for and loads the
respective as accordin ly. Conversions occur automatically if the measured as
does not match the calibration or bump test as. If possible, measured as is
recommended to use for all tasks.
How do I have to configure a device in order to have the relevant test gas assigned?
HOME
 
This hi hly depends on the confi uration and the number of tests run.
With 2 x 2 GB (redundant) internal memory a system which e. . carries out
40 tests per day and does not read out datalo ers or creates certificates,
can store local data for 10 years. If datalo ers are read out, more tests are
carried out or certificates created, this service life is certainly reduced.

 
Yes. The X-dock Mana er offers this option. However, under the settin s of the
X-dock you have to confi ure a SMTP server so that the e-mail can be sent via
this server.
SOFTWARE Can I send the reports via e-mail as well?
There are two ways to do this.
1) In the Device tab you can chan e the sort order. In this case all you need to
do is to sort by “Next Bump Test Date” or “Next Calibration Date”. Overdue
devices will then appear at the top of the list.
2) In the Professional Version there are reports in the Report tab entitled
“Overdue Gassin Tests” and “Overdue Adjustments” respectively. The
correspondin report can then be created periodically, but also as a one-off.
This will show all overdue devices.

Frequently Asked Questions
MISCELLANEOUS Can I use modules with different firmware at one station?
X-dock requires modules and masters with the same firmware. It is not possible
to use modules and masters within a station that do not use the same firmware;
this results in an error messa e. In this case, please perform a simple USB
update. Modules that have not been reco nised prior are now updated to the
same firmware version.
However, it is possible to combine different firmware versions of different
stations in a network. Nevertheless, this is not recommended and the latest
supported firmware should be used on all stations.
HOME
 
Which type of printers is supported by the X-dock station?
The X-dock Mana er certainly supports all printers that are tri ered via the
Windows operatin system. If you want to print directly with the Drä er X-dock
station please ensure that the printer connected via an USB stick is “postscript
compliant”. Please contact your Drä er representative for a complete list of
supported printers.
The quick bump test checks exceedin of the first alarm level. As soon as this
limit was exceeded the test is re arded as passed. In many cases this test is
sufficient.
The extended bump test oes one step further – it checks the accuracy of the
sensors every time. This means it is checked whether the value appears in
a window around the concentration of the test as.
What is the difference between the quick and the extended bump test?

Frequently Asked Questions
HOME
 
An extended bump test compares the actual concentration of the test as cylinder
is compared with the concentration indicated by the device. The concentration
must be within a tolerance band after a certain stabilization phase. The tolerances
may be set for each device with CC-Vision. However, it is recommended to use the
values tested and approved by Drä er. Since this test checks the deviation, it is not
necessary for values to exceed or drop below the pre-alarm threshold. The test is
therefore more accurate and more flexible, but it is also slower and consumes
a little more as.
What exactly is tested during the extended bump test and must the pre-alarm threshold
also be exceeded here?
Drä er X-dock does this for you. Tolerances should be defined sensor-specific,
since not every as can be filled into test as cylinders with the same tolerance
(for instance, H2S, HCN or THT often have a tolerance of 10%, but methane or
carbon monoxide only have a tolerance of 2%).
The sensor accuracies differ as well. Therefore each device has a sensor-specific
tolerance – and makes your work easier. However, if you still want to set your
own tolerance you are able to override the iven tolerance via the CC-Vision
Software.
Am I able to set tolerances for the test?
MISCELLANEOUS What exactly is tested during the quick bump test and can every concentration be used?
The quick bump test checks whether values exceed or fall below the pre-alarm
threshold. Drä er demands increased reliability and therefore does not permit
just any concentration. Therefore, parameters are stored in the device for each
as type allowed as minimum and maximum concentration. Furthermore, a time
is defined for every as, indicatin how lon a value must have exceeded the
pre-alarm threshold in order to ensure reliability with all ases. This means the
maximum allowable concentration is dependent on the selected pre-alarm and
the factor that is stored in the device as the maximum permissible concentration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a charging option available for the gas detection instruments?
Yes. Gas detection instruments usin rechar eable batteries can be char ed,
if the Plus variant of the module was purchased. All Plus variants can char e
and apply as!
HOME
 
It is recommended to connect mixed ases, includin EX ases, to the first
valve, since the first valve is used first. This means the mixin adjustments are
carried out first, which usually already processes the majority of the sensors. In
addition, the process does not contain nitro en, which reduces recovery times
in CAT EX sensors, since these have now been adjusted respectively tested.
MISCELLANEOUS Is there a recommended gassing order?
Yes. Some ases such as THT or EO are not or hardly available in concentrations
above the first alarm limit.
Durin the extended as application test the Drä er X-dock checks for an accuracy
window. This can also be below the alarm limit – however, this is not arbitrary.
Drä er X-dock supports you here as well and rejects test as concentrations that
are unsuitable. Nevertheless, e. . a concentration of 10 ppm EO is accepted.
This also represents the first alarm limit and even if this is not exceeded while
the measured value is within the window, the test is re arded as passed.
Can I carry out a gas application test, if the applied calibration gas concentration
is below the alarm limit?

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the system also as a “mobile” system?
The system supports 12 V operation, e. . via the ci arette li hter of a car.
HOME
 
The individual mode is the ideal mode for almost all applications. This is why it is
pre-set. In the individual mode the selected and confi ured test simply starts by
closin the flap. This mode is only available in lo ed-out condition.
In a workshop, however, it can occur that different tests are to be carried out.
To do this, the individual mode can be deactivated in the menu. Afterwards three
soft keys are available in the lo ed-out condition via which the respective test
can be started. It is your choice!
MISCELLANEOUS What exactly is the individual mode option?
Certainly. However, the use of Drä er test as cylinders facilitates the
confi uration: By enterin the part-numbers all concentrations are automatically
set immediately. Gas balancin is also only supported for Drä er test as
cyinders.
Can I also use gas cylinders of other manufacturers?
The Drä er X-dock also supports your existin as detection instruments.
However, these must be updated to a compatible software version
(Firmware update).
To do this, we offer a CC Vision free of char e which will support you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there no X-am 7000 module?
The Drä er X-dock is specially attuned to the XXS sensors and supports
personal as detection units such as X-am 125 and the Pac series which
are mainly used in lar er device fleets. Unfortunately the Drä er X-am 7000
is not supported. For X-am 7000 we recommend usin the Drä er Ecal.
To ether with the Drä erware Workshop 3/5/7000 software thus also a joint
database for both systems can be operated.
Yes. The bump test station is still bein supported and remains in our portfolio.
However, the results of these tests are not available in the database of the X-dock
system. The calibration date is certainly also updated after the next insertion in
the Drä er X-dock.
Can I still use or purchase the bump test station?
HOME

No. The Drä er X-dock includes ONE output for exhaust ases. Here, a hose
with a len th of up to 10m can be connected to dischar e the exhaust as.
A pur e module is not necessary.
MISCELLANEOUS Do I need a purge module for the exhaust gases (an additional pump to discharge exhaust gases)?
Yes. When the option “auto repair” is activated, a failed as application test is
“repaired” directly via an adjustment. If the calibration interval is overdue and this
option is activated, an adjustment is started directly and the as application test
is skipped.
Can an ad ustment be made when the bump test fails or the calibration interval is overdue?

Frequently Asked Questions
How exactly does gas balancing work?
The as balancin unit is able to monitor the as consumption and display the
remainin level. The evaluation is based on the flow rate and the duration of the
test. Supported are Drä er test as cylinders re istered in X-dock with the part
number. When chan in cylinders, X-dock must be told that a new cylinder was
connected.
An adjustment enerally has a hi her “priority” than a bump test and therefore
resets not only the adjustment interval and but also the test intervals. Oxy en is
adjusted to 20.9%, with fresh air. However, this is precisely the value that is
“normal” for this sensor. An adjustment is normally carried out at two points, and
thus a reaction of the sensor is detectable. Therefore, X-dock loads an O2test
as concentration equal to 20.9% in order to have evidence for a reaction of the
oxy en sensor as well.
Why is a bump test for oxygen performed after the ad ustment?
HOME

Yes. The Drä er X-dock uses a “resistive” touchscreen, i.e. the touchscreen can
be operated also without conductive materials – in a very comfortable manner
via a pen/stylus, but also with a fin er and even with loves.
MISCELLANEOUS Can I operate the touchscreen also when wearing gloves?
The sensor reserve is to support spare parts mana ement. For this, an early
warnin will be issued for any sensor with a droppin reserve. This function
does not lock sensors as lon as they pass the test. For this test, it is necessary
to enter the serial number of the sensor bein replaced (CC-Vision).

Tubes must be flooded so that the test as reaches the module. Optimized and
the shortest possible paths are used in X-dock to keep as consumption low.
However, lon external supply lines require increased floodin to ensure the
device is ready for testin quickly. This option is available to make sure this
happens only with lon supply lines and as is not wasted.
MISCELLANEOUS What is the purpose of the option “more than 2m hose length”?
Since it is not possible to char e X-am 125 devices while they are bein used,
the char in process will not start immediately after closin the lid, but after
a delay of 15 minutes. The counter starts a ain if a test is carried out within
these 15 minutes. The char in circuit turns on and the device turns off only
after 15 minutes without interaction with the correspondin module. The lid must
be closed for this!
This type of operation is recommended especially with roup and scheduler
mode.
