Thank you for buying a new EMS product. It meets the highest quality and

This system is for use in dentistry with EMS AIR-FLOW units.
This product functions with the powder provided by EMS.
The connement of the powder by a water jet makes it possible to steer
the water jet with great precision and thus ensures a pleasant treatment
for your patient.
This product removes dental plaque, soft deposits and surface stains from
pits, grooves, interproximal spaces or smooth surfaces of the teeth.

• Surface preparation prior to bonding/cementation of inlays onlays,
crowns and veneers,
• Surface preparation prior to placing composite restorations,

PREPARING FOR TREATMENT
Connecting the handpiece
Before each use clean, disinfect and sterilize the different pieces and accessories of this product.
Please refer to the information provided in the operating instructions. Non-sterile parts and accessories
may cause bacterial or viral infections.

治疗的常规提示
禁忌症
任何情况下均不得使用气动抛光设备为患有慢性支气管炎或哮喘的患
者进行治疗。 喷出的气体和牙粉可能造成呼吸困难。
不得使用含有碳酸氢钠的牙粉为实行低盐饮食的患者进行治疗。 对于
实行低盐饮食的患者，应使用 EMS 提供的不含碳酸氢钠的牙粉。
关于牙粉的信息
EMS 提供的带香味的牙粉在某些特定情况下可能引发对香料的过敏性
反应。 对于已知晓对此类香料过敏的患者，应使用 EMS 提供的不带香味的
牙粉。
不得将牙粉喷嘴直接对准填充物、牙冠或假牙架，因为这样可能会损
坏这些修复体。
EMS 提供的含有碳酸氢钠的牙粉仅可用于龈上应用。 对于龈下应用，
请使用 EMS 提供的特定牙粉，并参阅其使用说明书。
绝不要使用研磨牙粉，即以二氧化硅或氧化铝为原料制成的牙粉。 这
样可能会损坏装置。

GENERAL HINTS FOR TREATMENT
Contra-indication
Patients suffering from chronic bronchitis or asthma must not, under
any circumstances, be treated with an air polishing device. The jet of air and
powder could cause respiratory difculties.
Patients on a low salt diet must not be treated with the powder containing
sodium bicarbonate. For patients on a law salt diet use the powder without
sodium bicarbonate provided by EMS.
Information about powders
The aromatic powder provided by EMS can lead, in specic cases, to
allergic reactions to the avor. For patients known to suffer such reactions,
use the powder without avor provided by EMS.
Do not direct the jet of powder toward llings, crowns or bridgework
as this could damage these restorations.
The powder containing sodium bicarbonate provided by EMS can
be used only for supra-gingival application. For sub-gingival application,
please use the specic powder provided by EMS and refer to its operation
instructions.
Never use an abrasive powder i.e. silica or alumina based. This would
damage the unit.
The powders provided by EMS are especially designed for use with
the unit. Do not use powders from other manufacturers as this could damage
the unit or could adversely affect its efciency.

A powder jet accidentally directed into the eye can cause severe ocular
injury. During treatment, we strongly advise to all persons concerned dentist,
hygienist, patient, to wear eye protection.
To limit the risk of bacterial or viral infections and the powder inhalation,
we recommend to the dentist and the hygienist to wear a safety mask of
protection.
The contact lenses or glasses of the patient may get dirty during the
treatment. We recommend to take them off.

Rinsing the patient mouth before treatment for at least 30 seconds with
an antibacterial solution will greatly prevent bacteria development during the
treatment.
We strongly recommend applying Vaseline®on the patient's lips in
order to avoid their getting dried and chapped.
The cotton rollers stop the ow of saliva, part the lips and protect the
gums.

Treatment
Position the pump for sublingual aspiration.
Use the high-speed evacuator of your dental unit to evacuate the air/
powder mixture deviated by the treated tooth.
The handpiece and the high-speed evacuator must be handled by the
same operator. The high-speed evacuator is thus directed in an optimal way
towards the nozzle.

Familiarize yourself with the use of the handpiece by cleaning a yellow coin or an extracted tooth.
You can inuence the result according to the adjustments:
• Increasing the air pressure increases the cleaning effect and reduces the polishing effect.
• Increasing the water ow rate increases the polishing effect and reduces the cleaning effect.

Direct the nozzle strictly towards the surface of the tooth, from the sulcus to the incisal edge.
Respect a distance of 3 to 5 mm.
The angle between nozzle and tooth must be set from 30 to 60 degrees. The atter the angle is,
the larger is the area cleaned.
During treatment, direct the high-speed evacuator towards the air/powder jet deviated by the tooth.
The angle of reection is identical to the angle of incidence.

The air/powder jet is powerful. It can cause injury to the gums or an emphysema caused by the
introduction of air into the soft tissues. It is strongly advised to never direct the nozzle at the gum tissue
or into the gingival sulcus.
Proceed with small circular motions for the treatment. Polish all dental surfaces after the treatment
by setting the water ow rate to maximum.

Precautions to be taken at the end of the treatment
When the foot is lifted of the foot pedal, the air/powder jet continues for a few more seconds. End
the treatment taking this time frame into account.
The nozzle can be introduced into the high-speed evacuator still in the patient mouth. This allows
time for the unit to decompress with no risk of hurting soft tissues.
