Intended purpose
The shredder is intended for compacting
brous and wood-related materials such
as hedge and tree cuttings, branches,
bark and pine cones.
Any use not expressly permitted in this
manual may damage the shredder and
pose a serious danger to the user.
Do not fell the shredder with stones,
glass, metal, bones, plastics or fabrics.
The operator or user is responsible for
accidents and injury or damage to third
parties.
The manufacturer will not be held respon-
sible for any damage caused by improper
operation or use beyond the purpose
intended.
Safety precautions
This shredder may cause serious
injuries if improperly used. Before
using the shredder, read the user
manual carefully and familiarise
yourself with all of the controls. In
cases of uncertainty, ask an expert
for advice. Keep the manual in a
safe place and pass it on to any
subsequent owner to ensure that
the information contained therein is
available at all times.

General notes on safety
• The device must not be used by people
(including children) with limited physical,
sensory or mental faculties or who lack
the necessary experience and/or knowl-
edge - other than they are supervised
by a person responsible for safety or are
being instructed to operate the trimmer
by such a person.
• Keep the equipment away from children
and pets. Children must be supervised
in order to ensure that they do not play
with the equipment.
• Never allow children or other persons
unfamiliar with the user manual to use
the shredder. Local regulations or by-
laws may determine the minimum age
for using the shredder.
Observe noise control and local
regulations.
Caution! When using power tools,
observe the following basic safety
measures for the prevention of
electric shocks and the risk of in-
jury and re:
Preparation:
• Never use the shredder with other per-
sons or animals nearby.
• Wear hearing and eye protection at all
times when using the shredder.
• Wear appropriate protective clothing
such as protective gloves, rm footwear
and long trousers. Do not wear loosely
tting clothes or clothes with dangling
cords or belts.
• Only use the shredder in the open (that
is, away from walls or other rigid struc-
tures) on a rm, level surface.
• Do not use the machine on a paved,
gravelled area, which could be dam-

aged by ejected material.
• Before you start up the shredder, check
that all of the nuts, bolts and other
fastenings are tight. Covers must be
fastened properly and in good working
order. Replace any damaged or illegible
stickers.
• Only use replacement parts and acces-
sories supplied and recommended by
the manufacturer. Using third-party parts
will immediately invalidate the guaran-
tee.
• Do not leave the shredder working unat-
tended and keep it in a dry place out of
children’s reach.
• Only connect the shredder to a prop-
erly earthed mains power supply. Make
sure that the extension cable and socket
are properly earthed.
• While being used in the open, connect
the shredder to a residual current (RC)
circuit breaker with a trip current of not
more than 30 mA.
Working with the device:
• Make sure that the funnel feeder is
empty before you start the shredder.
• Keep your head, hair and body away
from the intake opening.
• Do not reach into the funnel feeder dur-
ing operation. The shredder will continue
to run for a short period after you switch
it off.
• Always make sure you are standing in
a rm, balanced position. Do not lean
forwards, and never stand above the
shredder when inserting materials.
• Make sure that the material inserted
into the shredder does not contain hard
objects made of metal, stone, glass or
similar.
• Do not use the shredder in the rain and
in bad weather. Work in daylight or un-
der good lighting conditions.
• Do not operate the shredder when you
are tired or distracted, or under the inu-
ence of alcohol or medication. Always
take a break when you need one and be
sensible about how you work.
• Switch the shredder off and pull the plug
under the following circumstances:
- when you are not using the device,
- transporting it or leaving it unattend-
ed;
- before releasing a jammed blade.
- when you are checking the device,
cleaning it or removing blockages;
- when you are carrying out cleaning
or maintenance work or replacing ac-
cessories;
- Before moving or lifting the shredder
- If foreign objects should enter the
shredder, if the shredder is making
unfamiliar noises or vibrations (check
the shredder for damage before start-
ing it up again)
• Do not allow shredded material to accu-
mulate near the ejection area. This may
otherwise hinder proper ejection and
force the material back up through the
feeder.
• Do not transport or tip the shredder with
the motor running.
• Keep hands, other body parts and
clothing out of the lling chamber and
ejection channel and away from other
moving parts.
• In the event of blockages in the ma-
chine intake or ejection, switch off the
motor and disconnect the machine
from the mains before removing
leftover material in the intake opening
or ejection channel. Ensure that the
motor is free of rubbish and other ac-
cumulations in order to safeguard the
motor from damage or possible re.
Remember that the cutting tool is also
activated when the starting mecha-

nism is started on a motor operated
machine.
CAUTION! The following states how
damage to the trimmer and possible
injury to people can be avoided:
• Handle the unit with care. Clean the ven-
tilation slits regularly; keep to the mainte-
nance instructions.
• Do not overload your device. Work
only within the indicated range of
performance. Do not employ any low
power machines for heavy work. Do
not use your device for purposes for
which it has not been designed.
• Only switch the shredder off once the
funnel feeder is completely empty since
the shredder may otherwise clog up and
not be able to start afterwards.
• Do not attempt to repair the shredder
yourself unless you are qualied to do
so. Any work not specied in this manual
may only be carried out by our service
centre.
Electrical safety
CAUTION! The following states how
to avoid accidents and injuries due to
electric shock:
• Use the tension relief provided for the x-
ing of the extension cord.
• Damaged cables, coupling and plugs or
connecting leads not corresponding to
specications, must not be employed.
Remove the plug immediately from the
plug socket in case of damage to the
mains cable.
Do not touch the mains power supply
cable under any circumstances until you
have pulled the plug out of the mains
socket.
• If the power cable for this equipment is
damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, a customer service agent
of the same or a similarly qualied per-
son in order to prevent hazards.
• Do not use the appliance if the on/off
switch does not work properly. Always
have a damaged switch repaired by our
Service Centre (See p. 17 for the ad-
dress).
• Only use extension cables that have
been approved for outdoor use and
are resistant to splash water. The core
diameter for extension cables measur-
ing up to 25 m must be at least 1.5 mm²,
and 2.5 mm² for cables longer than 25m.
Always roll the whole cable off the reel
before use. Check the cable for damage.
• Do not unplug the shredder by the cable.
Keep the cable away from heat, oil and
sharp edges.
General description
Functional description
The silent shredder is equipped with a pow-
erful motor and motor brake, overload pro-
tection with an auto-reverse system, and re-
start prevention for additional safety. A blade
cylinder system is used for cutting, which
works extremely quietly and automatically
draws in the shredding material. The sturdy
chassis ensures a stable standing position
with good mobility.
Refer to the following descriptions for a
functional description of the controls.

Unpacking
1. Remove the shredder from the
packaging.

2. Pull the collector box (2) out of
the chassis (12) and take out the
shredder unit and accessories.

Assembling the shredder

1 Assemble the two running
wheels (1). Clip in the wheel
covers into the running wheels.
2 Screw on the two adjustable feet
(13) to the chassis (12).
3 Fix the cutting attachment (4)
onto the chassis (12) with the
four screws enclosed.
4. To insert the collector box
(
A
2), the safety switch(see
picture D ) must be unlocked,
i.e. in the “OFF” position. Push
the collector box ( A2) into the
chassis ( A11), with the safety
switch (
A
3) on the side of the
wheels (
A
1). The collector box
(

2) can be pushed in only in
one direction.
5. Lock the collector box ( A2) by
pushing the safety switch (Fig
D
) to the ON position.
Operation
Start-up
Before starting the shredder, make sure
that the shredder unit is rmly attached to
the chassis and the collector box and safety
switch are in their proper positions (Fig
D
).

off
Make sure that the mains power
voltage agrees with the type plate
on the shredder.

Make a loop at the end of
the extension cable and
hang the loop onto the
strain relief on the mains

Connect the extension cable.
Make sure that the funnel feeder is empty.
1. To switch on, push the operating
mode selection switch ( A9) lock
forward and turn the operating mode
selection switch to the right.

The shredder will continue to run im-
mediately after switching off.
Emptying the collector box
Do not leave it until too late to
empty the collector box. Remem-
ber that the collector box lls un-
evenly under the ejector opening.
1. Switch the shredder off.
2. Unlock the collector box ( A2) by plac-
ing the safety switch ( A3) in the OFF
position.
3. Remove the collector box ( A2) from
the chassis ( A12) and empty it.
4. Make sure that the area around the
safety switch ( A3) is free of wood
chippings before you reattach the col-
lector box ( A2).
5. Reattach the collector box ( A2) and
place the safety switch ( A3) in the ON
position.
Overload protection
In the event of overload, e.g. due to
branches that are too thick, the equipment
automatically switches off.
Restart prevention
After switching off automatically as a re-
sult of overload, the equipment will not
restart automatically.
To switch back on, start by turning the op-
erating mode selection switch (
A
9) to the
“OFF” position.
Press the reset switch (
A
7).
Switch the device back on.
Working methods

shredder since long branches can
be spun off while being drawn into
the shredder.

• For safety reasons, the shredder will
not operate without a correctly at-
tached collector box (
A
2).
• Keep hold of branches while feeding
them into the shredder until they are
automatically drawn in.
• Be aware of the possible intake speed
of the cutter and do not overload the
equipment.
• Keep to the working speed of the
shredder and do not overload it.
• To protect the shredder from clogging,
shred wilted garden waste that has
been left for a few days and shred thin
twigs alternately with branches.
• Before you shred roots, remove any
remaining soil and stones from them
• Do not shred soft, damp material such
as kitchen waste, grass or leaves:
compost it directly.
• Keep a few dry branches for the end,
as they will help clean the shredder.
• Only switch the shredder off when all
of the shredding material has passed
through the cylinder. Otherwise, the cyl-
inder may jam the next time you switch
the shredder on.
Freeing up a jam
• Push back the operating mode selec-
tion switch (
A
9) lock and turn the
operating mode selection switch to the
left.
The operating mode selection switch
does not lock into place.

Jammed chopping material is released.
The direction of rotation is to be changed
only until the chopping material is re-
leased.
• For stubborn blockages, the distance
of the pressure plate from the blade
cylinder can be increased by turning
the adjusting screw ( A11) anticlock-
wise. To switch the device back on,
turn the operating mode selection
switch ( A9). When the jammed chop-
ping material has been released, the
pressure plate must be readjusted by
turning the adjusting screw ( A11)
clockwise.

Exceptionally, if this process fails
to remove the blockage, the follow-
ing option remains:
• Remove the four Allen screw (14) on
the housing plate (16).
• Take off the housing plate. This may
require light jerking movements, as
the housing plate also contains two
counter bearings.
• The blockage can now be removed
from the equipment.
• When replacing the housing plate
(16), ensure that it is positioned cor-
rectly. This is determined by the blade
shaft (18), pressure plate rod (17) and
four threads (15).
• Screw on the housing plate (16) rmly
with the four Allen screws (14).

Adjusting the pressure plate
The pressure plate factory setting is correct,
and only has to be adjusted with wear. You
will recognise that the cutting system has
become worn when the shredding material
is only compressed, and comes out in long
chains.
The running-in process may require that
you initially readjust the pressure plate in
short intervals.
1. To switch on the equipment, turn the
operating mode selection switch ( A9)
to the right.
2. Turn the adjusting screw (
A
11) slowly
clockwise until you hear scraping nois-
es. Small aluminium shavings will come
out of the ejection chute.
Avoid unnecessary wear on the
pressure plate by not over-adjust-
ing.
Maintenance and cleaning
Leave all work not described
in this manual to an authorised
customer service centre. Only
use original parts.
Wear hand protection when work-
ing on the blade cylinder.
Switch the shredder off, unplug it
form the mains, and wait for the
blade cylinder to come to a com-
plete stop before working on it.
General cleaning and servicing
Do not spray water onto the
shredder. Electric shock hazard.
• Always keep the shredder, wheels and
air vents clean. Use a brush or cloth to
clean it, avoid cleaners and solvents.
• Always check that the shredder and
especially the guards are not worn
down or damaged but rmly attached
before use. Check that the nuts, bolts
and screws are tight.
• Check the covers and guards for dam-
age and improper attachment. If nec-
essary, change the components
• Keep the shredder in a dry place out
of children’s reach. Do not cover the
shredder in nylon bags, as moisture
may develop.
Replacement parts
Replacement parts can be ordered direct-
ly from our service centre (see address on
page 93). In your order, quote the equip-
ment type and position number in the
exploded view.
Waste disposal and
environmental protection
Be environmentally friendly. Return the
tool, accessories and packaging to a recy-
cling centre when you have nished with
them.
Machines do not belong with do-
mestic waste.

Hand over the device at an utilization
location. The plastic and metal parts em-
ployed can be separated out into pure
materials and recycling can be implement-
ed. Ask your Service Center about this.
Defective units returned to us will be dis-
posed of for free.
Guarantee
• We provide a 36-month guarantee on
this unit, or 12 months for commercial
use according to the statutory regula-
tions in Germany.
If you have reason to launch a claim
on guarantee, please call our serv-
ice centre (see page 93 for our tel.,
fax and e-mail address). They will
give you further information on the
complaints management process.
• The guarantee does not cover damage
from natural wear, overloading or im-
proper use. Certain components, such
as the blade cylinder and pressure
plate, are subject to normal wear and
are not covered by guarantee.
• Guarantee is conditional on adherence
to instructions on cleaning and servic-
ing instructions.
• Damage resulting from material or
manufacturing defects shall be rem-
edied by replacement or repair free of
charge.
• Our service centre will also repair parts
not covered by guarantee for a fee.
The service centre will be pleased to
give you a cost estimate.
We can only repair equipment with suf-
cient postage and packaging by the
sender.
• We will not accept bulk consign-
ments, express or other special
freight where postage has not been
paid for.
• Defective units returned to us will be
disposed of for free.

Allmän säkerhetsinformation
• Denna maskin är inte avsedd för an-
vändning genom personer (inkl. barn)
med begränsad fysisk, sensorisk eller
mental kapacitet eller bristande erfa-
renhet och/eller kunskap, såvida de
inte står under uppsikt av en för deras
säkerhet ansvarig person eller från
denne får anvisningar om hur maski-
nen skall användas.
• Barn får inte tillåtas leka med produk-
ten.
• Låt aldrig barn eller andra personer,
som inte är förtrogna med bruksanvis-
ningen, använda maskinen. Det kan
nnas lokala föreskrifter som denie-
rar minimiåldern på användaren.

Förberedelser:
• Använd aldrig maskinen om det nns
personer eller djur i närheten.
• Använd hörselskydd och skyddsglasö-
gon under hela tiden som maskinen
går.
• Använd lämpliga arbetskläder, t.ex.
skyddshandskar, rejäla skor och lång-
byxor. Använd inte löst sittande plagg
eller plagg med hängande band eller
remmar.
• Använd maskinen endast utomhus
och med mycket fri yta omkring (d.v.s.
inte vid en vägg eller annat fast före-
mål) och på en jämn, plan yta.
• Använd inte maskinen på en stenlagd,
grustäckt yta där utslungat material
kan orsaka skador.
• Innan maskinen sätts igång, skall Du
kontrollera att alla skruvar, muttrar,
bultar och annat fästmaterial sitter
ordentligt fast. Kåpor och skyddsplå-
tar skall sitta på plats och vara i gott
arbetsskick. Skadade eller oläsliga
etiketter skall bytas ut.
• Använd endast sådana reserv- och
tillbehörsdelar som produceras och
levereras av tillverkaren. Om andra
delar används, upphör garantin att
gälla med omedelbar verkan.
• Låt inte maskinen gå obevakad. För-
vara maskinen torrt och utom räckhåll
för barn.
• Anslut maskinen till ett korrekt jordat
nät. Kontakt och förlängningskabel
måste ha fungerande skyddsledare.
• Anslut enheten endast till ett uttag med
felströmsbrytare (FI-brytare) med en
dimensioneringsfelström på inte mer än
30 mA.
Arbeta med maskinen:
• Kontrollera innan Du startar maskinen
att tratten är tom.
• Håll huvudet, håret och kroppen borta
från inkastet.
• Håll händerna borta från tratten när
maskinen går. Efter avstängning fort-
sätter maskinen att gå en liten stund.
• Se till att Du står stadigt och på ett
stabilt underlag. Böj Dig inte framåt
och stå aldrig högre än maskinen när
Du lägger i material.
• Kontrollera att inte materialet innehål-
ler hårda föremål såsom metall, sten,
glas eller andra främmande föremål.
• Använd inte maskinen när det regnar
eller vid andra dåliga väderleksförhål-
laren. Arbeta endast i dagsljus eller i
bra belysning.
• Arbeta inte med maskinen om Du är
trött eller okoncentrerad eller efter
intag av alkohol eller tabletter. Lägg in
pausar i god tid. Låt sunda förnuftet
styra arbetet.
• Stäng av maskinen och dra ur kontak-
ten:
- när Du inte använder maskinen,
transporterar den eller låter den stå
utan tillsyn;
- när Du kontrollerar, rengör eller ren-
sar maskinen från blockeringar;
- före frigörande av blockerad kniv.
- när Du utför rengörings- eller under-
hållsarbete eller byter tillbehör;
- om el- eller förlängningskabeln är
skadad eller tilltrasslad;
- när Du vill ytta eller lyfta maskinen;
- om främmande partiklar kommer in
i maskinen, vid ovanliga ljud eller
vibrationer (kontrollera maskinen
m.a.p. skador innan Du startar den
igen).
• Låt inte sönderdelat material samlas i
drivor runt utkastet; detta kan försäm-
ra prestandan och leda till att material
stöts ut igen via inkastet.
• Transportera och tippa inte maskinen

med motorn igång.
• Håll händerna, andra kroppsdelar och
klädesplagg borta från påfyllnings-
kammare, utkastkanal och andra rör-
liga delar.
• Vid tilltäppning i maskinens in- eller
utkast måste Du stänga av motorn
och dra ur nätkontakten innan Du
åtgärdar materialrester i inkastöpp-
ningen eller utkastkanalen. Kontrollera
att motorn är fri från skräp och andra
ansamlingar så att den skyddas mot
skador eller ev. brand. Tänk på att
även skärverktyget sätts igång när Du
sätter igång startmekanismen i en mo-
tordriven maskin.
Var försiktig! Så undviker Du ma-
skinskador och ev. därigenom för-
orsakade personskador:
• Behandla maskinen försiktigt. Rengör
luftningsöppningarna regelbundet och
följ underhållsanvisningarna.
• Stäng av maskinen först när tratten är
helt tömd. I annat fall kan det uppstå
tilltäppningar och maskinen kan ev.
inte startas.
• Försök inte att själv reparera maski-
nen, om Du inte har utbildning för
detta. Allt arbete som inte beskrivs i
denna bruksanvisning får utföras en-
dast av vårt servicecenter.
Elektrisk säkerhet
Var försiktig! Så undviker Du
olycksfall och skador p.g.a. ström-
stötar:
• Använd den dragavlastning som är
avsedd för placering av förlängnings-
kabeln.
• Skadade kablar, koppling och kon-
takt eller anslutningskablar som inte
motsvarar föreskrifterna får inte an-
vändas. Om nätkabeln är skadad: dra
ur kontakten ur uttaget omedelbart.
Vidrör aldrig nätkabeln så länge som
nätkontakten sitter kvar i uttaget.
• Om anslutningskabeln till maskinen
skadas, måste Den bytas ut av tillver-
karen eller dennes kundservice eller
motsvarande kvalicerad person mot
en särskild anslutningskabel, i syfte
att undvika faror.
• Använd inte maskinen när det inte
går att sätta igång eller stänga av
den med brytaren. En skadad brytare
måste bytas ut av vårt servicecenter
(adress, se sidan 93).
• För utomhusbruk skall Du bara an-
vända tillåtna, stänkvattenskyddade
förlängningskablar. Ledardiametern
hos förlängningskabeln måste för ka-
blar upp till 25 m vara minst 1,5 mm2,
för kablar upp till 25 m 2,5 mm2. Rulla
alltid ut en kabelvinda helt före an-
vändning. Kontrollera att inte kabeln
är skadad.
• Dra inte i själva kabeln för att dra ur
kontakten ur uttaget. Skydda kabeln
mot värme, olja och vassa kanter.
Allmän beskrivning
Funktionsbeskrivning
Den tystgående kompostkvarnrn har en
kraftig elmotor med motorbroms, överlast-
skydd med backautomatik och omstarts-
spärr som extra säkerhet. Som skärsys-
tem används ett valssystem, som arbetar
mycket tyst och drar in kompostmaterialet
automatiskt. Det robusta stativet gör att
maskinen står stadigt.
Manöverdelarnas funktion beskrivs i det
följande.

Handhavande
Igångsättning
Kontrollera före igångsättning av kvarnen
sitter korrekt på stativet och att kompost-
lådan och säkerhetsbrytaren sitter i rätt
position (se bild ).
Maskinen kan inte sättas igång om
kompostlådan eller säkerhetsbryta-
ren inte sitter i rätt position.
Inkoppling och avstängning
Kontrollera att nätspänningen stäm-
mer överens med uppgifterna på
typskylten.

Tömning av kompostlådan
Töm lådan i god tid. Tänk på att
lådan fylls ojämnt under utkastar-

1. Stäng av maskinen.

Överbelastningsskydd
Vid överbelastning, t.ex. alltför tjocka gre-
nar, stängs maskinen av automatiskt.
Startspärr
Efter en automatisk avstängning p.g.a.
överbelastning, startar inte maskinen igen
av sig själv.
Stäng först av maskinen (läget ”OFF”).
Tryck på återställningsknappen ( A7)
För inkoppling skjuter Du låset till drifts-
sättsväljaren ( A9) framåt och vrider
driftssättsväljaren åt höger.

Allmänna arbetshänvisningar
Se till att hålla avstånd till kvarnen
– långa kvistar kan fjädra upp när
de dras in. Risk för skador.
Använd skyddsglasögon och hör-
selskydd.Använd skyddshandskar.
• Av säkerhetsskäl fungerar maskinen
bara om kompostlådan (
A
2) har
satts i på rätt sätt.
• Håll fast kvistarna när Du matar in
dem i kvarnen tills att de dras in auto-
matiskt.
• Arbeta enligt maskinens indragshas-
tighet, och överbelasta den inte.
• För att förhindra stopp kan Du mala
vissnat trädgårdsavfall som har legat
i några dagar, samt tunna grenar om-
växlande med kvistar.
