Before connecting FRITZ!Powerline, observe the following security
instructions in order to protect yourself, the surroundings, and
FRITZ!Powerline from harm.
Easy Accessibility
It must always be possible to disconnect FRITZ!Powerline from elec
trical power.
•Plug FRITZ!Powerline into an electrical outlet that is easy to reach.
Fires and Electrical Shocks
Overloaded outlets, extension cords and power strips can cause fires
or electric shocks.
•Always plug FRITZ!Powerline directly into a wall outlet. Do not use
any power strips or extension cords.
•Do not connect multiple FRITZ!Powerline devices with each other.
Overheating
Heat accumulation can lead to overheating of FRITZ!Powerline. This
can result in damage to FRITZ!Powerline.
•Install FRITZ!Powerline in a place that is protected from direct
sunlight.
•Provide for sufficient air circulation around FRITZ!Powerline.
•Make sure that the ventilation slits on the housing are always
unobstructed.
•Do not cover FRITZ!Powerline.
•Avoid operation in the direct vicinity of a radiator or heating unit.

Functions
Connects Network Devices with the Home Network and Internet
FRITZ!Powerline connects computers, smartphones, game consoles,
smart TV and other network devices with the home network and
internet connection of your FRITZ!Box (or another router).
Connection options for network devices:
•Wireless LAN (up to 866Mbit/s in the 5-GHz and up to 400Mbit/s
in the 2.4-GHz band)
•LAN cable (1 gigabit Ethernet port)
Expands the Wireless Network of the FRITZ!Box via Electrical Wiring
FRITZ!Powerline connects attached devices with the home network
and internet via electrical wiring (powerline). Via powerline, data
transmission is possible even where the wireless LAN of the
FRITZ!Box cannot be received, for instance, over greater distances and
through multiple walls or ceilings.
Mesh WiFi
FRITZ! devices distributed throughout the home work together in a
single network with the same name and network key. The devices
communicate with each other to optimize all wireless connections.
Expands the Wireless Network also as a Wireless Repeater or via LAN Cable
You can also use FRITZ!Powerline without the powerline function and
configure it as a wireless repeater, or connect it to the FRITZ!Box with
a LAN cable.
Secure Powerline Connections
Powerline connections are secured ex works with encryption and an
individual network password.
