Instruction manual
Electric Actuators Type EA04
3.6 Principle of operation
The actuator runs by switching the voltage from the OPEN position to the CLOSE position. By switching the voltage to the other
input, the actuator runs from the CLOSE position to the OPEN position.
The end positions are factory set to 0 and 90°.
End positions and Middle position can later be changed via the end position buttons, see Chapter “Adjusting end positions”.
3.6.1 Position indicator
The position indicator shows the valve position. The valve positions can be read on the installed cover.
NOTE!
GF actuators are always delivered in the OPEN position.
When the cover is installed, the following image can be seen (Example ball valve):

3.7 Operating mode on standard operation
The actuator runs by connecting the mains voltage from the „Open“ position to the
„Closed“ position. By switching the mains voltage to the other input, the actuator runs from the „Closed“ position to the „Open“
position. The end positions are defined by two limit switches.
3.7.1 Safety position
In case of power failure, the actuator stays in its current position.

Instruction manual
Electric Actuators Type EA04
►In addition to these instruction manual, also follow manufacturer›s specifications on ball valve type 546 Pro.
►Before installation, compare technical data of the actuator with the control and the valve. Only install actuator if the data match-
es.
►Before installation, check plugs and terminals for possible damage.
►Make sure that no damaged parts are used.
►Have installation and assembly only carried out by specialist sta.
►If device is directly controlled:
• Fit a circuit breaker on site.
• Do not connect grounding conductor
Requirements
• Cross section of the power lines max. 1.5 mm2.
• Fuse size: > 6 A.
►Ensure that actuator is only connected to voltages that meet the requirements on a protective extra low voltage circuit (PEVL).
►Connect actuator, see Section Connection diagram
4.2 Electrical connection
WARNING!
Too high current peaks the first time the actuator is switched on by charging the mains capacitor!
Danger of injury and/or malfunction.
►Connect actuator as per connection diagram and operate, see Section Connection diagram
WARNING!
Voltage too high!
Danger of injury and/or damage to property.
►Make sure that 24 V devices are only connected to voltages that meet the requirements of a safety extra low voltage circuit
(SELV).
NOTE!
Damage to the actuator by short circuit or corrosion!
Moisture and/or dirt in the actuator.
►Make sure that no water enters the actuator.
►Mount the cable routing, so it does not point upwards.

5 Commissioning
Before commissioning the system, carry out a functional test of the product.
5.1 Functional test
Before actuator is connected to mains voltage:
►Make sure that main voltage matches details on type lable.
►Make sure that actuator is connected properly.
►Check fuse: > 6 A
►Check that valve position matches Position indicator of the actuator.
►Make sure that actuator and valve are connected correctly and tightly.
NOTE!
Using the manual emergency override, the actuator can open or close the valve even without mains voltage
WARNING!
Too high current peaks the first time the actuator is switched on by charging the mains capacitor!
Danger of injury and/ or malfunction.
►Connect actuator as per connection diagram and operate, see Section Connection diagram
WARNING!
Working with actuator cover removed!
Danger of injury and/ or material damage.
►Disconnect connections of the feed and control voltage.
►Only carry out adjustments on live parts with specially insulated tools.

19
Instruction manual Electric Actuators Type EA04
5.2 Using manual emergency override
The integrated manual emergency override is used to move the actuator manually into another position. The integrated manual
emergency override allows the actuator to continue operating temporarily if there is no power.
►If the actuator constantly or frequently fails: change actuator.
AUTOMAN
►Switch manual emergency override from position AUTO to MAN
►This achieves the following:
1. after a few seconds, the motor is shut o
2. the motor transmission output is bridged
5.2.1 Procedure
►Turn position display until desired position is reached.
►After override, switch manual emergency override switch from MAN to AUTO
►There are 2 ways of transferring the actuator to automatic operation:
a) With the actuator in function „MAN“, by turning the position indicator, run to one of the end positions (open or closed).
If the final position switch is activated, the motor power is interrupted. Switch manual emergency override switch from MAN to AUTO.
The actuator is back in automatic operation.
b) Switch manual emergency override switch from MAN to AUTO. Deactivate power supply for a few seconds, this resets the actuator
which then changes into the automatic operation.
WARNING!
Removing the Phillips screw on the manual emergency override switch!
Irreparable damage to the transmission unit; if removed, the warranty expires.
►Never remove the Phillips screw.
►Only activate via the manual emergency override switch.

5.3 Status light (only EA04 20Nm)
The status light oers visual communication between actuator and user.
The current operating status of the actuator is displayed either by the light being permanently lit or dierent flashing sequences of
the light:
