Operational advice.
Do not dispose of this appliance together with your domestic
waste. The appliance must be disposed of at a collecting centre
for recyclable electric and electronic appliances. Do not remove
the symbol from the appliance.
1. Safety instructions
Read the safety instructions carefully before you operate the appliance for the
first time. All information included in those pages serve for the protection of the
operator. If you ignore the safety instructions, you will endanger your health and
life.

Store this manual in a safe place so you can use it whenever it is needed. Strictly
observe the instructions to avoid damage to persons and property.
DANGER!
1. All electrical work to connect the MLX to the mains must be carried
out by a qualified professional. Do not modify the energy supply. The
connection must be carried out in accordance with the current local
and legal regulations.
2. Do not connect the MLX to the mains if the MLX itself or the power
cable or the plug are visibly damaged.
3. Never try to repair the MLX yourself. If the MLX does not operate
properly, please contact the manufacturer or the shop you purchased
the appliance at. Original spare parts should be used only.

4. When the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or an authorized aftersales service or a qualified
professional only.
WARNING!
1. Use a properly-grounded socket with proper voltage (230V AC/50HZ)
only. The electric components must not come in contact with water.
Check all cables regularly and call the aftersales service when any
cable is in improper condition. RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
2. Never use water or any other liquid during treatment. Never pour
water or any other liquid on the sand or into the MLX. RISK OF
ELECTRIC SHOCK!
3. Massage oil must not come into contact with the quartz-sand! Always
use the oil massage sheet (available on request from Gharieni) when
carrying out oil massages.
4. Never touch the hot heating plate in the inner tray. RISK OF BURNS!
5. Do not heat up any other materials except the supplied special sand
(also available on request from Gharieni)!
6. Do not switch on the MLX unless it is completely loaded with the
special sand.
7. Patients with acute pain, vein problems, low blood pressure,
inflammatory processes and any other symptom which can make
thermal treatments and the patient-positioning involved a hazard must
consult the doctor before treatment.
8. Always keep children away from the MLX.
9. Children must not play with the MLX or its single components.
10. This appliance is not intended to be operated by persons with
reduced physical, sensory and mental capabilities or lack of
experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised or instructed
concerning the use of the appliance and do understand the danger
resulting thereof.
2. General information.
Dear customer!
We would like to thank you for purchasing this quality-product as well as for your
confidence. Read the complete IM before you use the MLX for the first time.
Reading the complete IM is essential for its proper and confident use and will help
you to operate the MLX to your entire satisfaction .Our MLX is very robust and
has a long operating life if it is operated properly.

Read the instructions very carefully and operate the appliance in its intended use as
described only to protect you and your customers from danger. Keep the IM handy
and near of the MLX.
WARNING! Failure to follow these instructions will endanger the
operator`s health and life and/or can damage the appliance.

Activate the lock function of the MLX to protect it from unauthorized
use and/or when you do not operate the MLX (look at chapter 10.3)

We also highly recommend to agitate the heated material (quartz or salt)
before each treatment to ensure an uniform distribution of heat.
3. Prefaces
1. The MLX is subject to top quality and safety standards.
2. Some components are made of the naturally-grown raw material wood, which
is subject to fluctuations of its colour und structure.
3. Even after the processing wood "lives on". So, depending on the
characteristics of the wood and the ambient atmosphere, cracks and fugues
may occur.
4. The colouring of some models includes wood stain, which can stain a bit in
the first few weeks unless the surface oil has cured (not on lacquered surfaces).
5. The technical features designated at articles 2 to 4 are no reason for complaint.
6. The load capacity of the MLX is 150 kg. The MLX is equipped with two
motors; all settings are operated electrically. Using the control element, you
can set the height and inclination to the desired position.
4. Intended use
Operate the MLX in accordance with its intended use only:
Thermal treatments of the human body using the special sand (the supplied PU-
coated sheet separates the sand from the body) at ambient temperatures from +50
to +400C and a relative humidity from 35% to 65 %, non-condensing at 300C.
The normal treatment temperature is 420C. The max. temperature is 490C. Please
always consider, that the treatment temperature you have set directly affects the
body and organism of the relevant patient.

WARNING!
1. Never use the MLX, when your patient is under the influence of
alcohol or drugs.
2. Persons, who are suffering from illnesses which may react negatively
to external heat sources, must consult a doctor before treatment.
5.Delivery
If delivered by a forwarding company , the MLX is delivered on a special pallet
(packaged in cardboard boxes). The MLX is in complete horizontal position and
the upholstery (optional available on request from Gharieni) is installed.
6. Support bars
You can transport the MLX using
the 4 removable support bars.
Screw the 4 support bars into the
bottom metal frame of the upper
section. You need 4 persons to
move the MLX to its final site.
NOTICE! Do not lift the MLX by the upper frame; otherwise the frame will
break.
7. Before initial operation
Check before initial operation that all components are complete and not visible
damaged.

Minimum space requirements for installation: 300*180 cm.
8. Rating plate
WARNING!
The rating plate is in the drawer below the head section of the MLX. Do
not make the rating plate illegible! Do not remove the rating plate!
Failure to do so will expire the guarantee.
9. Initial operation
WARNING!
1. After installation all control elements must be easily accessible/readable. The
floor must be even, clean and slip-resistant.
2. After installation equip the MLX with the supplied dry special sand only
(approx.. 180 kg; also available on request from Gharieni). Distribute the
sand evenly.
3. Never fill more than 180 kg of the special sand into the sand basin of
the MLX!
4. Place the sand cushions (if available) on the sand so they will be heated
automatically.
5. Cover the sand using the provided thermal cover. Repeat after each treatment
to protect the sand from cooling.
6. Connect the MLX to a properly-installed shockproof socket (230V AC) only.
7. Set the temperature control to the desired temperature. The warm-up time is
approx. 10 hours. Now you can readjust the temperature (preferably over
night). All electric components are designed for continuous operation. Leave
the MLX connected to the mains when used daily.
8. Disconnect the MLX from the mains when you do not use it for a longer
period of time (e.g. vacation).
9. Set the height to the lowest level when placing a patient on the MLX. Then
set the height to the desired level during treatment (chap. 10.4).
10. The sand should perfectly take on the shape of the body for optimum results.
For this purpose, push some sand to the body of your patient.
11. After treatment set the height to the lowest level so your patient can leave the
MLX easily.

10. Operation
10.1 Height adjustment
You can adjust the height from approx. 63 cm to approx. 88 cm. The entrance
height is approx. 63 cm, so your customer has easy access to the MLX.
The height adjustment is operated electrically. Touch the relevant control elements
(chap. 10.4).
The two motors can be operated individually so you can move your patient into the
so-called trendelenburg position.
The upholstery of the headrest has an opening for the nose usable when carrying
out back-massages. The cover plug of the opening is removable. Using a gel
cushion (fig. below; optional available from Gharieni) on the headrest upholstery
can additionally support the face of the person to be treated.
10.2 Inclination - trendelenburg/anti-trendelenburg
When touching the corresponding spots on the display or the arrow buttons you
can set the inclination of the lying surface up to +/- 160. The MLX will move up
automatically unless it has reached a sufficient height while adjusting the inclination
to avoid collision with the base.
The MLX will stop moving in horizontal position for 1 second while changing
from trendelenburg to anti-trendelenburg position. Keep the button pressed so the
MLX will continue moving.
WARNING! Do not use the base as a foot rest. RISK OF CRUSHING!

WARNING! Do not place any objects between the base and the upper
structure. RISK OF COLLISION!
10.3 Glass control panel
The glass control panel on the foot end of the MLX controls the temperature
setting, the height adjustment and the setting of the inclination.
Temperature:
1. Touch the illuminated dots of the right circle and move your fingertip in
clockwise direction to increase the temperature. The selected temperature is
indicated on the display.
2. Move your fingertip in anticlockwise direction to decrease the temperature.
3. „Lo“ or „Low“ indicate the lowest setting (20° C). The maximum temperature
you can set is 490C.
4. When the dots light up blue, the set temperature has not yet been reached.
5. When the dots light up orange, the set temperature has been reached.
6. When the dots light up red, the temperature of the sand is higher than the set
temperature.
7. Please note that each change of the temperature requires a certain period of
time.

Setting of the height/inclination:
1. The illuminated dots of the left circle represent the following orders:
a. Top illuminated dot: MLX upwards.
b. Bottom illuminated dot: MLX downwards.
c. Left illuminated dot: Inclination of the leg section/downwards.
d. Right illuminated dot: Inclination of the leg section/upwards.
Key lock/display
1. Locking of the display: Touch the left illuminated dot of the left circle and the
right one of the right circle simultaneously for approx. 3 seconds. The controls
are locked as soon as you hear an acoustic signal. The illuminated dots of the
left circle light up red.
2. Unlocking of the display: Touch the left illuminated dot of the left circle and
the right one of the right circle simultaneously for approx. 3 seconds. The
illuminated dots of the left circle light up blue. The MLX can be operated again.
NOTICE! For safety reasons, the MLX moves only while touching the
display/pressing the arrow buttons. When you stop touching/pressing, all
moving-operation will stop immediately.
10.4 Arrow buttons
You can control the height and inclination using the arrow buttons on the frame of
the MLX.

10.5 Reset
The reset can be carried out by pressing both arrow buttons LYING SURFACE
UPWARDS and LYING SURFACE DOWNWARDS simultaneously. Hold the buttons for
5 seconds until the acoustic signals have stopped.
11. Options
11.1 Upholstery
An upholstery is available on request from Gharieni so you can use the MLX as an
upholstered Spa Table, too.
11.2 DFS/Dynamic Flow System
The DFS is equipped with 5 air chambers and can be used as a massage
programme or 3-spots lumbar support. The wave-like massage is carried out by
inflating and deflating of the air chambers.
Massage programme
The centre button starts and stops the massage. Duration of the massage: 10
minutes (LED is on).
Deflating of the air chambers: 35 seconds (LED is flashing rapidly).

Reset time period after massage: 5 minutes (LED is flashing slowly).
Ready for restart: (LED is off).
Interruption of the massage while the programme is operating: Reset time
period 35 seconds (LED is flashing rapidly).
NOTICE! You cannot operate the lumbar support while the massage
programme is operating. You cannot operate the massage programme
during the reset period. When the massage time period has elapsed, the
air chambers are deflated for 35 seconds (optimised by body pressure).
Lumbar support
Air chambers 1 and 2 have no function.

Button + (top left): Press and hold to inflate air chamber 4 (up to factory
setting).
Button - (bottom left): As long as you press and hold this button the relevant air
chamber is deflated so you can adjust the most comfortable treatment-
condition.
Selecting of the air chambers: Press the + button and the setting starts at air
chamber 4.
Press the button to change to the next air chamber/up (e.g. from air
chamber 4 to 5).
Press the button to change to the next air chamber/down.

12 Cleaning, maintenance and disinfection
WARNING! Disconnect the MLX from the mains before you clean or
maintain it.
1. Clean the housing and fittings using a wet cloth or sponge and a little soap only.
2. Replace the special sand according to demand and no later than after 12
months. Contaminated sand (e.g. by oil) should be replaced by the same amount
of new sand immediately.
3. The inner tray and sheet covering can be cleaned using a suitable disinfecting
agent.
4. All natural wood components are treated with a special wood oil. You must not
clean these components with water within the first 12 weeks after production.
During this period of time, only use a dry cloth or a maintenance oil
approved by the manufacturer ( you can also use this oil for refreshing the
surfaces. Regularly-refreshed surfaces will maintain their beautiful look and are
easy to clean).
5. Upholstery: The upholstery (optional available from Gharieni) is made of PU
(polyurethane) or synthetic leather. Clean the PU using a cloth provided with a
small amount of alcohol. Clean the synthetic leather using the special detergent
for synthetic leather which is available from Gharieni.
13 Repair and maintenance
WARNING! Disconnect the MLX from the mains before you repair or
maintain it.
1. Our responsibility for system safety and reliability applies only if any repair
work and/or modification is carried out by the Gharieni Group GmbH or a
person who is authorized by the Gharieni Group GmbH. The electrical
installation of the room the MLX is installed in and operated must meet all
current legal regulations. The MLX must be operated in compliance with the
provided IM.
2. The warranty and liability shall expire in case of improper use and any
manipulation of the device.
3. The MLX is designed for continuous operation. It is equipped with an overload
protection as additional security. The overload protection switches off (and on
again) the MLX when the temperature has reached 750C due to a failure of the
thermostat.
4. The temperature sensor is located in front of the aluminium-made angular cover
plate in the bottom section of the inner tray (near of the control elements).
5. The temperature sensor must not be damaged.

6. All electric components are designed for continuous operation. Leave the MLX
connected to the mains when used daily.
7. Regularly check the power cable for damage.
8. When the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
an authorized aftersales service or a qualified professional only.
14. Guarantee
The Gharieni Group GmbH grants a guarantee of 3 years for all new couches.
1. The guarantee does not include parts subject to wear (e.g. bulbs, UV-tubes,
consumables, etc.).
2. The guarantee does not include any kind of damage caused by improper use,
non-compliance with the instructions of the instruction manual and/or gross
negligence.
3. The guarantee also expires:
a. when labels (e.g. the rating plate, warning signs etc.) have been removed.
b. when equipment or components of it were opened unless the opening was
explicitly permitted in the instruction manual (e.g. for cleaning the
equipment).
15. Waste management
Do not dispose of the MLX together with your domestic waste. Old
and unused appliances must be send for disposal to the responsible
recycling centre for electric appliances. Do not remove the relevant
symbol from the product.
The MLX is made of metal and plastic components, electronic
components, electric cables. Dispose of the separate components in
accordance with the current local disposal regulations. For further

16. Malfunctions
