1 Identifier
The module identifier NSQM1FWDFGC1 is at the upper right corner of the front panel.
2 About the module
The NSQM1FWDFGC1 firewall module is developed for H3C SecPath M9000 security gateways.
The module provides features including firewall, VPN, content filtering, and NAT. By using this
module on an M9000 gateway, you can enhance network security capabilities without changing the
network topology.
3 Specifications
The module has one console port, one USB port, one GE copper port, and a hard disk slot.

4 LEDs
The module provides LEDs to show the operating status of the module and the hard disk.

Hard disk (HD)
Flashing green The hard disk is reading and writing data.
Steady green The hard disk is operating correctly.
System status LED
(SYS)
Off No power input or the module is faulty.
Slow flashing green The system has started up and is operating correctly.
Fast flashing green The system is loading the software.
5 Installing and removing the module
CAUTION:
•Wear a reliably-grounded ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves when you install or remove the module.
•Do not touch the components on the module.
The service module slots might be vertical or horizontal, depending on the gateway model. When
installing the module in a horizontal slot, make sure its component side faces up. When installing the
module in a vertical slot, make sure its component side faces left.
The module installation and removable procedures are the same for horizontal or vertical slots. The
following procedures install and remove the module in a horizontal slot.
5.1 Installing the module
1. Face the front panel of the gateway. Remove the filler panel from the target slot.
This example uses slot 3 on the M9006 gateway.
2. Place the module horizontally on a workbench with the component side facing up. Open the
ejector levers on the module.
3. Gently push the module into the slot along the guide rails.
4. Close the ejector levers and make sure the module is in close contact with the backplane.
5. Use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the captive screws on the module.

5.2 Removing the module
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screws on the module until all pressure is
released.
2. Simultaneously open the ejector levers of the module to separate the module from the
backplane.
3. Simultaneously open the ejector levers on the module to separate the module from the
backplane, and pull the module slowly out of the chassis along the guide rails.
4. Place the module on an anti-static workbench with the component side facing up, or put it in an
anti-static bag.
5. If you are not to install a new module, install a filler panel in the slot to prevent dust and ensure
good ventilation in the gateway.
