This symbol indicates product parts energized with a
dangerous voltage of sucient magnitude to constitute
arisk of electric shock.

3. Safety notes
•This product is intended for private, non-commercial use
only.
•Do not use the product in the immediate vicinity of
heaters, other heat sources or in direct sunlight.
•Protect the product from dirt, moistureand overheating,
and only use it in dry locations.
•Keep this product, as all electrical products, out of the
reach of children!
•Children arenot permitted to play with the device.
Children may not clean the product or perform user
maintenance without supervision.
•Do not use the product in areas wherethe use of
electronic products is not permitted.
•Be considerate. Loud volumes can have adetrimental
effect on your surroundings.
•Since the battery is integrated and cannot be removed,
you will need to dispose of the product as awhole. Do
this in compliance with the legal requirements.
•Do not drop the product and do not expose it to any
major shocks.
•Do not operate the product outside the power limits
given in the specications.
•Keep children away from the packaging material as there
is arisk of suffocation.
•Dispose of packaging material immediately according to
locally applicable regulations.
•Do not modify the device in any way.Doing so voids the
warranty.
•Only operate the product in ambient temperatures
between -10° Cand 50° C.

4. Getting started and operation
Note
•The product is mains or battery operated. Formains
operation, you merely have to connect the product
to apower source (see Section 4.2). Forbattery
operation, the product must rst be fully charged (see
Section 4.1).
Note
•Only use original accessories (or accessories approved
by Hama), to prevent damage to the product.
Notes on use
•Connect the product to asocket that has been
approved for the device.
•If you will not be using the product for along period
of time, disconnect it from mains power.

4.1 Battery operation
Warning Battery
•Only use suitable charging devices for charging.
•As arule, do not use charging devices or USB
connections that aredefective and do not try to repair
them yourself.
•Avoid storing, charging or using batteries in extreme
temperatures.
•When stored over along period of time, batteries
should be charged regularly (at least every three
months).
•The product has arechargeable battery.
•Charge the product fully beforeusing it for the rst time.
•Connect the supplied Micro-USB charging cable to the
product’sMicro-USB port (14).
•Connect the unused connector on the Micro-USB
charging cable to asuitable USB charger.Please refer to
the operating instructions for the USB charger used.
•The current charge level is shown on the display during
charging.
Note –Charging
•It takes about 3hours to fully charge the battery.
•The product’sbattery can be charged whether the
product is on or off.
•If the battery charge is less than 30%, the message
“Warning: Lowbattery” appears once.
•If the battery charge is less than 10%, this message
appears every minute.
•Youwill only receive this information if the device is
on.
•The actual battery life varies depending on use of
the device, the settings and the ambient conditions
(rechargeable batteries have alimited service life).
4.2 Operation via mains connection/Micro-USB
Warning
•The German StVZO (Road TracLicensing
Regulations) apply when using the product on the
road.
•Take carethat components such as airbags, safety
areas, controls, instruments, etc. and visibility are
not blocked or restricted. Do not allow yourself to be
distracted by the product, for example when driving
avehicle or operating sports equipment. Always
pay attention to the surrounding tracand your
environment.
•Connect the supplied USB charging cable to the Micro-
USB port (14) of the device.
•Connect the unused plug on the USB cable to the
supplied vehicle USB adapter.
•Connect the vehicle USB adapter to a12Vsocket of your
vehicle.
4.3 Antenna connection
Connect the included dipole antenna to the product’s
antenna connection (13) to optimise reception.
4.4 Switching the product on and off
Switching on the product
Press [ /](10) to switch on the device.
Switching off the product
•Press [ / ](10) to switch off the device.
•Press [ / ](10) to switch the device to standby mode
during charging or to exit standby mode.
4.5 Initial setup
Note
•Make surethat the antenna has been properly
connected.
•When you switch on for the rst time, the device is in
DAB/DAB+ mode and begins with the station search
immediately.
•Press and hold [ /](10) for about 3seconds if you
would like to start the search manually at alater time.

5. Connection via LINE OUT
The analogue audio output allows you to connect your
speakers to the device, for example, and to play its audio
signal through the speakers.
Note
•Switch off the device beforeconnecting aterminal
device to it.
•Do not bend or crush the cable.
•Forplayback through the analogue audio connection,
connect a3.5 mm cinch cable to the LINE Out (15)
analogue output on the device and to the analogue
output on the speakers.
•Press [ /](10) to switch on the device.
•The audio signal from the device is now played through
the speakers.
6. Connection via the headphones socket
Warning
•Always keep the volume at a
reasonable level. Loud volumes, even
over short periods, can cause hearing
loss.
•Connect the 3.5 mm jack plug for your headphones to
the headphones socket (16) on the device.
•The audio signal from the device is now played through
the headphones.
7. Navigation and controls
7.1 Button assignment
Buttons 10–12 have adual function assignment:
•Brieypress the button to select the function specied
rst on the button description.
•Press and hold the button for about 3seconds to select
the function specied last on the button description.
In addition, the button function differs in the playback
screen and in the function menu as follows:

7.2 Additional information/system settings
Press and hold [ /](12) for approx. 3seconds to
display context-dependent additional information. The
information shown depends on the operating mode as well
as the current station.
Possible information:
•Description
Indicates the radio station, the current program,
contents, subjects, etc.
•Genre
Indicates the genre(style of music) of the station
•Reliability/signal strength
•Bit rate
The current digital bit rate of the station currently being
received.
•Station information
•Audio settings
•Battery level
•Current time
•Today’sdate
7.3 Language
At initial startup, the language of the radio defaults to
English. To change the menu language of the radio,
proceed as follows:
•Press [ /](11) to access the settings menu.
•Use the navigation buttons (7/9) to navigate to the
“System” menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [OK] (8).
•Use the navigation buttons (7/9) to navigate to the
“Language” menu item. Conrm your selection by
pressing [OK] (8).
•Use the navigation buttons (7/9) to select your desired
system language.
•The language setting currently selected is marked with
an asterisk (*).

8.Operating modes (DAB/DAB+/FM)
This device supports reception via DAB/DAB+ and FM.
Repeatedly press and hold [ / ](11) to enable DAB
operating mode.
During playback the current operating mode is displayed
on the top right edge of the screen.
9.Digital radio (DAB/DAB+)
The radio receives all the conventional digital radio
frequencies in arange from 174 MHz to 240 MHz (band
III, channels 5A to 13F).
9.1 Station list
Youcan call up the station list in DABmode at any time. To
do so, proceed as follows:
Note
•The station list contains allofthe stations found
during the most recent station search. Anew station
search can be started, as described in section 9.2.
The reception quality of astation depends on various
factors, including the weather conditions, the location
of the radio and the orientation of the antenna. If
astation in the station list cannot be received, try
changing the orientation of the antenna or moving
the radio to adifferent location.
•If astation cannot be received, consult section 9.4 to
nd out how to remove it from the station list.
•Ensurethat you areinDAB/DAB+ operating mode.
•Press [ /](12) during playback to navigate through
the available stations in ascending alphabetical order
using the (7/9) navigation buttons.
•Press [OK] to conrm your selection (8).
•The station then begins to play automatically.
9.2 Search/automatic search
The automatic DABchannel search scans DABband III for
available stations. After the station search, all interference-
free stations aresaved in alphabetical order.Inthe station
list, a“?” is displayed in front of the station names of
stations found during aprevious scan but which cannot
currently be received.
The automatic DABstation search starts automatically
when DABmode is started for the rst time; it is indicated
by “Search...”and aprogress bar on the display.
•Press and hold [ /](10) for approx. 3seconds to
start anew station search.
•Please wait until this search is completed.
•The available stations arenow displayed in the station
list.
9.3 Manual station search
The manual station search function lets you search through
individual frequencies and channels. If you know the
frequency of the desired station and the automatic station
search failed to nd it, use this featuretoset the reception
frequency directly.
Proceed as follows, choosing afrequency range between
5A and 13F:
•Ensurethat you areinDAB/DAB+ operating mode.
•Press [ /](11) and navigate to the “Set manually”
menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [OK] (8).
•Use the navigation buttons (left: -0.05 MHz/right: +
0.05 MHz) to set the desired frequency.Wait amoment
until playback of the received station signal begins.
9.4 Cleaning up the station list
To remove stations that arenot currently in the reception
area from your station list, proceed as follows:
•Ensurethat you areinDAB/DAB+ operating mode.
•Press [ /](11) and navigate to the “Clear” menu
item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [OK] (8).
•Choose “Yes” in the subsequent safety check and conrm
this choice by pressing [OK] (8).
•Press [ /](12) or choose “No” in the safety check to
cancel the deletion.
•This process can take up to one minute.
Note
•To keep the station list current, we recommend
regularly updating the list by nding all stations (see
section 9.2).

9.5 Favourites
Youcan save up to 40 of your favourite stations for quick
and direct access.
The radio has 4freely congurable slots for saving
favourite stations (2 to 5) and afreely denable memory
list with 40 memory slots.
Note
•The quick-select buttons 2to5correspond to slots 1
to 4inthe large favourites list.
9.5.1 Assigning the favourites quick-select buttons
(2 to 5)
•Set the station that you would like to save as afavourite
station preset.
•While the station is playing, press and hold the quick-
select button you wish to assign.
•The display shows “Programme (1–4, depending on
quick-select button) saved” to conrm the assignment.
•The favourite station preset appears on the right edge of
the screen during playback.
Note
•Favourites cannot be deleted. If all the station
memory slots are lled and you wish to save anew
station, choose one of the occupied slots. The station
in this slot willbeoverwritten with the new station.
9.5.2 Accessing favourites with the quick-select
buttons
To call up apreset station, press the corresponding quick-
select button (2 to 5).
9.5.3 Filling the favourites list (1 to 40)
•Set the station that you would like to save as afavourite
station preset.
•While the station is playing, press and hold [ ](6) for
approx. 3seconds until the favourites list opens.
•Navigate to the slot you wish to use and conrm the
selection by pressing [OK] (8).
•The display shows “Program (1 to 40, depending on the
slot) saved” to conrm the assignment.
•Sie [ ](6) für ca. 3Sekunden bis sich die Favoritenliste

9.5.4 Accessing stations from the favourites list (1
to 40)
•Press [ ](6) to access the favourites list.
•Use the navigation buttons (7/9) to navigate to the
desired station and conrm the selection by pressing
[OK] (8).
9.5.5 DRC
Some DABnetwork radio stations support avolume control
featurethat actively takes effect during playback. If the
volume suddenly increases, DRC automatically lowers it. If
the volume suddenly becomes quieter,DRC automatically
raises it. The same happens when playback is suddenly
quiet. The radio then increases the volume again.
DRC high: total equalisation of different volumes. Strong
compression can audibly reduce the dynamics of apiece
of music.
DRC low: partial equalisation of different volumes. More
subtle compression, without too much loss of dynamics.
DRC off: no equalisation
To change the setting, proceed as follows:
Ensurethat you areinDAB/DAB+ operating mode.
•Press [ /](11) and navigate to the “DRC” menu item.
Conrm your selection by pressing [OK] (8).
•The setting that is currently selected is marked with an
asterisk (*).
10. FM
Repeatedly press and hold [ /](11) to enable FM
operating mode.
10.1 Search settings
The search setting allows you to determine whether
stations with low signal strength areignored during the
automatic search. Proceed as follows:
•Ensurethat you areinFMoperating mode.
•Press [ /](11) and navigate to the “Search settings”
menu item.
•Conrm your selection by pressing [OK] (8).
•To have the search stop only at stations with astrong
signal, select “Only strong stations”. Otherwise, the
search run will stop at every station for which asignal is
received. As an alternative, you can choose “Only strong
stations”.
Note
•By default, “Only strong stations” is enabled.

10.2 Station list
Youcan call up the station list in FM mode at any time. To
do so, proceed as follows:
•Ensurethat you areinFMoperating mode.
•Press [ /](12) during playback to navigate through
the available stations in ascending alphabetical order
using the (7/9) navigation buttons.
•Press [OK] to conrm your selection (8).
•The station then begins to play automatically.
10.3 Search/automatic search
•Press and hold [ /](10) for approx. 3seconds to
start astation search.
•The radio stops the search and starts playback when it
nds astation.
•Press and hold [ /](10) again for approx. 3seconds
to continue the search until the next station is found.
10.4 Favourites
Youcan save up to 40 of your favourite stations for quick

11. Audio settings
Forsome stations with aweak signal, quality can be
improved slightly by playing them in mono. Youcan
enable this function in the menu, and the radio will then
automatically switch to mono reception when signal
quality is poor.Tochange this option, proceed as follows:
•Ensurethat you areinFMoperating mode.
•Press [ /](11) and navigate to the “Audio settings”
menu item.
•Press [OK] (8) to conrm.
•Choose “Mono only” or “Stereo available” and conrm
your selection by pressing [OK] (8).
12. Volume
Youcan use the navigation buttons (7/9) in the playback
menu to change the volume.
•Press [ ]/[Vol-] (7) to decrease the volume.
•Press [ ]/[Vol+] (9) to increase the volume.

13. Snooze
The radio has atimer function, which switches the radio
to standby mode after apre-dened length of time
irrespective of the operating mode.
•Press [ /](11) and go to the “System” menu item.
Press [OK] (8) to conrm.
•Select the “Sleep” menu item and press [OK] (8) to
conrm.
•Youcan use the navigation buttons (7/9) to set the value
for the timer.
•Conrm your setting by pressing [OK] (8).
•[]inthe playback screen indicates that the sleep
timer is enabled.
14. Alarm clock
The radio allows you to set two different alarm times.
14.1 Settings
Note
•Note that the alarm only works in standby mode
(charging) and playback mode.
To access the alarm settings, proceed as follows:
•Press [ /](11) and go to the “System” menu item.
Press [OK] (8) to conrm.
•Select the “Alarm” menu item and press [OK] (8) to
conrm.
The conguration of alarm 1and alarm 2isidentical. They
allow two alarm times to be saved independently.Select
alarm 1or2and conrm your selection by pressing [OK]
(8).
Use the navigation buttons [ ]/[Vol-] (7) /[ ]/[Vol+] (9) and
[OK] (8) to set the following details.
Mode:
Choose when the alarm is to activate:
“Add arrow symbol” Daily –Once –Onweekdays –On
weekends
Time:
Select the hours for the alarm time rst, and then the
minutes.
Duration:
Select atime interval (15/30/45/60/90 minutes). The alarm
remains active for the selected time interval.
Mode:
Set whether you wish to be woken by an alarm tone
(buzzer), DABorFM.
Programme:
If you selected DAB/FM, choose which station you wish
to be woken with. Youcan choose any of the 30 favourite
station slots or the last listened.
Volume:
Select the volume with which you would like to be woken.
This setting makes the volume level when you last listened
to the radio irrelevant.
Saving:
Choose Off/On to nish the alarm settings.
Note
•We recommend allowing automatic time updates.
This ensures that the time is always updated, even
after the power supply is disconnected –for example,
if the power fails.
14.2 Activating/deactivating the alarm
•Activate the alarm by pressing On to complete the
settings.
•Deactivate the alarm by pressing Off to complete the
settings.
14.3 Stopping the alarm
When the alarm activates, press [ /](10) to stop the
alarm.
15. System settings
15.1 Time settings
The radio attempts to obtain the current time information
from all available sources as per the default settings.
•Press [ /](11) and go to the “System” menu item.
Press [OK] (8) to conrm.
•Select the “Time” menu item and press [OK] (8) to
conrm.
Time and date settings
•Youuse the navigation buttons (7/9) to set the time and
date digit by digit.
•Press [OK] (8) to conrm the setting of each digit and
move to the next one.
•After you complete the entry,the message “Time saved”
is shown in the display.

15.2 Automatic updates
If the automatic time and date update is activated, the
device receives time and date information from the station
over the FM/DAB/DAB+ radio network. This is the best
way to ensurethat the clock runs accurately and the alarm
triggers at the correct time, even after power outages.
•Youcan choose between the following options using the
navigation buttons:
•Update all
•Update DAB
•Update FM
•Conrm your selection by pressing [OK] (8).
•Youare now taken back to the time settings.
Format (time)
Choose between 12-hour and 24-hour time formats.
Format (date)
Choose between DD-MM-YYYY and MM-DD-YYYY date
formats.
15.3 Lighting
The backlight can be congured separately for each
operating mode (playback mode, standby mode and
snooze mode).
Proceed as follows:
Press [ /](11) and go to the “System” menu item. Press
[OK] (8) to conrm.
•Select the “Lighting” menu item and press [OK] (8) to
conrm.
•Youcan use the navigation buttons to choose between
the following brightness levels:
•Timeout
•On setting
•Dim setting
Note
•The choice of lighting mode will have effects on
power consumption. mode has effects on the power
consumption.
15.4 Factory settings
To reset the radio to the factory default settings, proceed
as follows:
•Press [ /](11) and go to the “System” menu item.
Press [OK] (8) to conrm.
•Select the “Factory settings” menu item and press [OK]
(8) to conrm.
•Conrm the next prompt with YES to reset the radio to
the factory default settings. All settings you made are
deleted.
•To cancel the deletion process, press [ /](12) or
choose “No”.
Note
