Please read and understand this entire manual before attempting to assemble, operate, or install the
product.
• Before you begin installing the fan, disconnect the power by removing fuses or turning off the circuit
breakers.
• Make sure that all electrical connections comply with local codes, ordinances, the National
ElectricalCode,andANSI/NFPA70-199.Hireaqualiedelectricianorconsultado-it-yourself
wiring handbook if you are unfamiliar with installing electrical wiring.
• Make sure the installation site you choose allows a minimum clearance of 7 ft. from the blades to
theoorandatleast30in.fromtheendofthebladestoanyobstruction.
• The net weight of this fan is: 20.24 lbs. (9.2 kg).
DANGER: When using an existing outlet box, make sure the outlet box is securely attached to
the building structure and can support the full weight of the fan. Failure to do this can result in serious
injury or death. The stability of the outlet box is essential in minimizing wobble and noise in the fan
after installation is complete.
WARNING: To avoid personal injury, the use of gloves may be necessary while handling fan
parts with sharp edges.
WARNING: Using a full-range dimmer switch to control fan speed will cause a loud humming
noisefromthefan.Toreducetheriskofreorelectricshock,doNOTuseafull-rangedimmerswitch
to control the fan speed.
WARNING: Toreducetheriskofre,electricshock,orpersonalinjury,mountthefantoanout-
let box marked “ACCEPTABLE FOR FAN SUPPORT” and use the mounting screws provided with the
outletbox.Mostoutletboxescommonlyusedforthesupportoflightingxturesarenotacceptablefor
fansupportandmayneedtobereplaced.Consultaqualiedelectricianifindoubt.Securetheoutlet
box directly to the building structure. The outlet box and its support must be able to support the mov-
ing weight of the fan (at least 35 lbs.). Do NOT use a plastic outlet box.
WARNING: Toreducetheriskofre,electricalshock,orpersonalinjury,wireconnectorspro-
vided with this fan are designed to accept only one 12-gauge house wire and two lead wires from the
fan. If your house wire is larger than 12 gauges or there is more than one house wire to connect to
the two fan lead wires, consult an electrician for the proper size wire connectors to use.
WARNING: Toreducetheriskofreorelectricshock,donotusethefanwithanysolid-state
speed-control device or control the fan speed with a full-range dimmer switch.
WARNING: Toreducetheriskofre,electricshock,orpersonalinjury,donotbendtheblade
arms when installing them, balancing the blades, or cleaning the fan. Do not insert objects between
the rotating fan blades.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, use only parts provided with this fan. The use
of parts OTHER than those provided with this fan will void the warranty.

SAFETY INFORMATION
CAUTION: Read all instructions and safety information before installing your new fan. Review the
accompanying assembly diagrams.
CAUTION: Be sure the outlet box is properly grounded or that a ground (green or bare) wire is present.
CAUTION: Carefully check all screws, bolts, and nuts on the fan motor assembly to ensure that they
are secured.
PREPARATION
Before beginning the assembly of this product, ensure that all parts are present. Compare all parts
with the package contents list and hardware contents list. If any part is missing or damaged, do not
attempt to assemble the product.
After opening the top of the carton, remove the mounting hardware package from the foam inserts,
then remove the motor from the packaging and place it on a soft surface, such as a carpet, to avoid
damagetothenish.
Estimated Assembly Time: 120 minutes
Tools Required for Assembly (not included): Electrical Tape, Phillips Screwdriver, Pliers, Safety
Glasses, Step Ladder, and Wire Strippers
Helpful Tools (not included): AC Tester Light, Tape Measure, Wiring Handbook, and Wire Cutters

INITIAL INSTALLATION
1. Turn off the circuit breakers and wall switch to the fan
supply line leads.
DANGER: Failure to disconnect the power
supply prior to installation may result in serious injury
or death.

2. Determine the mounting methods to use.
Note:Flushmount installation is not available for this
item.
Important:If using the angle mount, check to ensure
the ceiling angle is not steeper than 19°.

3. Ensure that the blades (G) will be at least 30 in. from
any obstructions. Also check the downrod (A) length
to ensure the blades (G) will be at least 7 ft. above

INITIAL INSTALLATION
4. Secure the mounting bracket (C) to the outlet box
usingscrews,springwashers,andatwashers
provided with the outlet box.
Note:Remove the mounting bracket (C) from the
canopy (B) before installing the bracket to the
outlet box.
Important:If using the angle mount, ensure that the
open end of the mounting bracket (C) is
installed facing the higher point of the
ceiling.

STANDARD OR ANGLE MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the downrod pin (DD) and downrod clip
(EE) from the downrod (A). Then partially loosen the
motor-housing set screws (HH) in the yoke at the top
of the motor housing (E).
Helpful Hint: Downrod style mounting is best suited
for ceilings 8 ft. (2.44 m) high or higher. For taller
ceilings you may want to use a longer downrod
(not included) than the one provided. Angle style
mounting is best suited for angled or vaulted ceilings.
A longer downrod is sometimes necessary to ensure
proper blade clearance.

2. Insert the downrod (A) through the canopy (B),
canopy cover (J), and yoke cover (D). Ensure that
the canopy cover (J) is turned with the shiny side
toward the motor housing (E). Thread the wires from
the motor housing (E) up through the downrod (A).

3. Slide the downrod (A) into the yoke of the motor
housing (E), align the holes, and re-install the
downrod clip (EE) and pin (DD). Then re-tighten the
motor housing set screws (HH) and slide the yoke
cover (D) down until it rests on top of the motor
housing (E).

4. Depending on the length of downrod (A) you use,
you may need to cut the lead wires back to simplify
the wiring. If you decide to cut back the lead wires,
it is suggested that you do so in the following
manner: Take the lead wires and make sure that you
have pulled them all the way through the top of the
downrod (A) and measure 8 in. of lead wire, and then
cut the excess wire off with wire cutters.
Note:If you do not cut back the lead wires, Steps 4
and 5 are not necessary and you may proceed
to Step 6 instead.

5. If you decided to cut back the lead wire in Step 4,
strip 1/2 in. of insulation from the end of the white
wire. Twist the stripped ends of each strand of wire
within the insulation with pliers. Repeat this step for
black, blue (if applicable) and green wires.

6. Install the ball end of the downrod (A) into the mounting
bracket (C) opening. Align the slot in the ball with the
tab in the mounting bracket (C). The rod should not
rotate if it is done correctly.
DANGER: Failure to align the slot in the ball
with the tab may result in serious injury or death.

CLOSEMOUNT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the canopy cover (J) from the bottom of the
canopy (B).
Helpful Hint: Closemount-style mounting is more
suitable for ceilings lower than 8 ft. (2.44 m) high.
The downrod, hanging ball, and canopy cover are not
used in this type of installation.

2. Align the canopy (B) with the holes in the top of the
motor housing (E). Secure the canopy (B) to the top of
the motor housing (E) with the closemount screws (II).

WIRING
WARNING:Toreducetheriskofre,electricalshock,orpersonalinjury,wireconnectors
provided with this fan are designed to accept only one 12-gauge house wire and two lead wires from
the fan. If your house wire is larger than 12 gauges and there is more than one house wire to connect
to the two fan lead wires, consult an electrician for the proper size wire connectors to use.
WARNING: If the house wires are different colors than referred to in the following step, stop
immediately. A professional electrician is recommended to determine the correct wiring scheme.
CAUTION: Be sure the outlet box is properly grounded or that a Ground (Green or Bare) wire is present.
Chooseawiringdiagramfromthethreechoicesbelowthattsyoursituationandmakethe
appropriate wiring connections as follows:

CHAINS: Connect the Black and Blue wires from the
fan to the Black wire from the ceiling. Connect the
White wire from the fan to the White wire from the
ceiling. Connect all Ground (Green) wires together
from the fan to the Bare/Green wire from the ceiling.
Secure all wiring connections together with wire
connectors (CC).

and the light with a separate wall switch, connect
the Black wire from the fan to the Black wire from
the ceiling. Connect the Blue wire from the fan to the
Black wire from the wall switch for the light. Connect
the White wire from the fan to the White wire from the
ceiling. Connect all Ground (Green) wires together
from the fan to the Bare/Green wire from the ceiling.
Secure all wiring connections together with wire

SWITCHES: To control the fan and light with
separate wall switches, connect the Black wire from
the fan to the Black wire from the wall switch for the
fan. Connect the Blue wire from the fan to the Black
wire from the wall switch for the light. Connect the
White wire from the fan to the White wire from the
ceiling. Connect all Ground (Green) wires together
from the fan to the Bare/Green wire from the ceiling.
Secure all wiring connections together with wire
connectors (CC).
Note:The Black wire is hot power for the fan. The
Blue wire is hot power for the light kit. The
White wire is common for the fan and light kit.
The Green (Bare) wire is ground.

3. Turn the spliced/taped wires upward and gently push
the wires and wire connectors (CC) into the outlet box.
WARNING: Ensure that no bare wire or wire
strands are visible after making connections. Place
the Green and White wire connections on opposite
sides of the outlet box from the Black and Blue (if
applicable) wire connections.

Important:The use of a full-range dimmer switch
(not included) to control the fan speed
will cause a loud humming noise from the

FINAL INSTALLATION
1. Locate the four canopy mounting screws (FF) on
the underside of the mounting bracket (C). Remove
the two canopy mounting screws (FF) closest to
the open end of the mounting bracket (C). Partially
loosen the other two canopy mounting screws (FF).

2. Secure the canopy (B) with the previously removed
canopy mounting screws (FF) and securely tighten
all four screws (FF). Push the canopy cover (J) up
into the bottom of the canopy (B) until it is locked.
Note:Closemount installation will not have the
downrod (A) and canopy cover (J).

3. Insert a blade (G) through the slot on the band on
the motor housing (E). Align the holes and attach a
blade (G) to the motor housing (E) with blade screws
(AA)andberbladewashers(BB).Tighteneach
blade screw (AA) starting with the one in the middle.
Repeat this step for the remaining blades (G).
Time Saver: Fiber blade washers (BB) can be set on
each blade screw (AA) prior to installing the blades
(G).

4. Remove the three switch housing screws (GG) from
thetterplateportionofthemotorhousing(E).Connect
the 9-wire plug from the motor housing (E) to the 9-wire
plug from the switch housing (F), matching up the
colorsontheplugsforthecorrectt.Makesurethe
plugs connect tightly.

5. Carefully arrange the wires inside the switch housing
(F). Align the holes in the switch housing (F) with the
holesinthetterplateportionofthemotorhousing
(E). Re-insert the switch housing screws (GG) and
tighten them securely.

screw (JJ) with a red dot and save it for later use.

8. Connect the male plug from the switch housing (F)
tothefemaleplugfromthelightkittter(H)and
ensure that the plugs connect tightly. Then install
three candelabra-base 40-watt max. bulbs (I) into the
sockets.
CAUTION: When replacing bulbs, please allow the
bulbs and glass shade to cool down before touching.

9. Set the reverse switch, located on the switch housing
(F),totheleftpositionforadownwardairowthat
creates a wind chill effect or to the right position to
createanupwardairowthatwillhelpmovehotair
off the ceiling.
For further information on the reverse switch, please
see Step 3 in the Operating Instructions section of
this manual.

10. It is advisable to check that the wiring has been done
correctly before proceeding. Turn the power back
on and test the light and fan functions with the pull
chains on the switch housing (F).
If the fan functions but the lights do not, turn
the power off and check that the male plug from the
switch housing (F) and the female plug from the light
kittter(H)areconnectedproperly.Turnthepower
back on and re-test the light.
If the fan does not function, turn the power off,
disconnect the male and female plugs on the light
kittter(H)andremovethelightkittter(H).Then
remove the switch housing (F) and check that
the 9-wire plugs inside the switch housing (F) are
connected properly. Replace the switch housing (F)
per the instructions in Steps 4 and 5 and continue
with Steps 6 through 8.

11. Before proceeding, ensure the electricity has been
shut off again. Remove the rubber bands and plastic
bags from the fan pull chains. Raise the glass
shade (M) and guide the pull chains through the
corresponding holes at the bottom of the glass shade
(M). Push up gently until the threaded nipple on
thelightkittter(H)comesthroughthecenterhole
in the glass shade (M). Thread the pull chains and
threaded nipple through the corresponding holes in
thenialplate(L)andsecuretheglassshade(M)
withthenial(K).
Note: Donotovertightenthenialasthismaycause
the glass to crack.
