REQUIREMENTS
To update the GasAlertMicroClip gas detector with the latest firmware the
following are required:
1. Updated Firmware Files (version 11H or 30C)
2. GasAlertMicroClip IR Link Cable (GA-USB1-IR)
If you do not have an IR Link cable, contact your local distributor, your Regional Sales
Manager, or BW Technologies Customer Service.
3. A computer (PC) with Windows 2000 or higher.
4. GasAlertMicroClip Soft Tools Software (version 10F or higher)
The latest version of Soft Tools can be downloaded from www.gasmonitors.com, or from
the latest Soft Tools CD-ROM supplied by BW Technologies by Honeywell. The file size is
approximately 20MB.
5. GasAlertMicroClip Gas Detector(s)
PROCEDURE OVERVIEW
To update the GasAlertMicroClip to the latest firmware, complete the following
steps:
1. Install the latest version of Soft Tools software on the computer (PC).
2. Download the latest firmware version onto the computer (PC).
3. Upload the latest firmware version from the computer (PC) to the detector.
SOFT TOOLS:
Step 1.1 - Download Soft Tools files from the BW website
a) Go to BW’s website at www.gasmonitors.com
b) Navigate to the GasAlertMicroClip page. From the Home page click:

c) Click on “ ” in the menu on the left
d) Click on the link “SoftToolsSetup-XXX.zip”
(XXX = current version number)
e) The File Download window appears.
f) Click and choose location.
g) Open the ZIP file and save the Soft Tools file contents on the
computer.
Step 1.2 - Install Soft Tools
a) Navigate to where the Soft Tools files are saved. Double-click on:
BWUserSoftToolsSetup-XXX.exe
b) The BW Technologies Soft Tools Setup window appears.
c) The Destination Folder automatically navigates to where the existing
Soft Tools program is saved.
d) Click (takes approximately 20 seconds to install)
e) Click to complete the installation.

GASALERTMICROCLIP FIRMWARE:
Step 2 Downloading firmware
a) Go to www.gasmonitors.com
b) Navigate to the GasAlertMicroClip page. From the Home page click:

c) Click on “ ” in the menu on the left
d) Select the firmware version needed dependant on the unit’s serial
number. For units with a serial number starting with KA1 select 11H.
For units with a serial number starting with KA2 select 30C.
aCaution: Ensure the firmware is 11H or higher or 30B or
higher. If it is not, contact BW Technologies.
e) Complete form and click .
f) The file download window appears. Click and save the Zip
file on the computer.
g) Open the ZIP file and save the file contents on the computer.
Step 3 Uploading firmware from the computer to the detector
a) Activate the detector and wait for start-up to complete.
b) Connect the IR Link to the detector and the computer USB port.
(Note: For instruction on how to connect the IR Link to the detector and the
computer, refer to the GasAlertMicroClip Soft Tools Instruction Sheet)
c) Open Soft Tools.
(Double click the BW icon on the PC desktop or navigate through the Start menu)
d) Under the “Device Operations” tab, click .
The GasAlertMicroClip Bootloader pop-up displays.
e) Click .
f) window opens.
g) Select the firmware file (124499_GMCF-XXX_bootloadable.bin).
h) Click .
i) The firmware uploads to the detector in approximately 60 seconds.
j) When the upload is complete, “Firmware Upload Successful”
displays.
k) The detector’s firmware will now be reconfigured. The detector’s LCD
displays LOADING and after approximately 10 seconds the detector
deactivates to signal a successful upload.
l) Once the detector is activated again, the latest firmware revision will
appear on the LCD during the start-up process.
Please check the BW website periodically to ensure the firmware version
loaded on each GasAlertMicroClip is the most current version. If you
require assistance please contact your local BW Sales Manager or a
BW Technologies office.

ÉLÉMENTS REQUIS

PROCÉDURE
Pour mettre à jour votre GasAlertMicroClip avec la toute dernière version du

2. Téléchargez la dernière version du microcode sur l’ordinateur (PC).
3. Transférez la dernière version du microcode de l’ordinateur (PC) vers le

e) Compléter le formulaire et cliquer .
f) La fenêtre de téléchargement de fichier s’affiche. Cliquez sur
et enregistrez le fichier Zip sur l’ordinateur.
g) Ouvrir le fichier ZIP et enregistrer le contenu du fichier sur l’ordinateur.
Étape 2 : Transfert du microcode de l’ordinateur vers le détecteur
a) Mettez le détecteur en marche et attendez la fin de la séquence de
démarrage.
b) Branchez le câble IR Link sur le détecteur et sur le port USB de
l’ordinateur. (Remarque : Pour savoir comment raccorder le câble IR Link au
détecteur et à l’ordinateur, reportez-vous à la notice d’emploi du logiciel Soft Tools
GasAlertMicroClip.)
c) Ouvrez Soft Tools
(Double-cliquez sur l’icône BW sur le bureau du PC ou parcourez le menu Démarrer).
d) Dans l’onglet Device Operations, cliquez sur le bouton .
La fenêtre GasAlertMicroClip Bootloader s’affiche.
e) Cliquez sur le bouton .
f) La fenêtre s’affiche.
g) Sélectionnez le fichier de microcode (124499_GMCF-XXX_bootloadable.bin).
h) Cliquez sur le bouton .
i) Le transfert du microcode sur le détecteur demande environ
60 secondes.
j) Une fois le transfert terminé, le message « Firmware Upload
Successful » s’affiche.
k) Le microcode du détecteur est alors reconfiguré. Le message
LOADING (Chargement) s’affiche sur l’écran LCD du détecteur qui
s’éteint après 10 secondes environ pour signaler un chargement réussi.
l) À la mise en marche suivante du détecteur, la dernière version
demicrocode apparaît sur l’écran LCD pendant la séquence de
démarrage.
Vérifiez régulièrement sur le site Web de BW que tous vos détecteurs
GasAlertMicroClip possèdent bien la dernière version de microcode. Pour
toute demande d’aide, adressez-vous au responsable commercial BW de
votre région ou à un bureau BW Technologies.

Paso 2: Carga del firmware desde la computadora en el detector
a) Active el detector y espere que se complete el proceso de encendido.
b) Conecte el cable IR Link al detector y al puerto USB de la
computadora.

l) Cuando se activa nuevamente el detector, aparece la revisión más
reciente del firmware en la pantalla LCD durante el proceso de

Schritt 1.1: Soft Tools-Dateien von der BW-Internetseite herunterladen
a) Gehen Sie auf die Internetseite von BW unter www.gasmonitors.com.
b) Rufen Sie die Seite für den GasAlertMicroClip auf. Klicken Sie von der
Startseite aus auf folgende Links:
Portables DMulti-Gas Detectors DGasAlertMicroClip
c) Klicken Sie im Menü links auf „ “.
d) Klicken Sie auf den Link SoftToolsSetup-XXX.zip.
(XXX = aktuelle Versionsnummer)
e) Das Fenster für den Datei-Download erscheint.
f) Klicken Sie auf und wählen Sie den Speicherort.
g) Die ZIP-Datei öffnen und den Soft Tools-Dateiinhalt auf dem
Computer speichern.
Schritt 1.2: Soft Tools installieren
a) Wechseln Sie in das Verzeichnis, in dem die Soft Tools gespeichert
sind. Klicken Sie doppelt auf:
BWUserSoftToolsSetup-XXX.exe.
b) Das Fenster „BW Technologies Soft Tools Setup“ erscheint.
c) Der Zielordner („Destination Folder“) stellt automatisch den
Speicherort des vorhandenen Soft Tools-Programms fest.
d) Klicken Sie auf (die Installation dauert ca. 20 Sekunden).
e) Klicken Sie auf , um die Installation fertig zu stellen.

GASALERTMICROCLIP - FIRMWARE:
Schritt 2: Firmware herunterladen
a) Gehen Sie auf die Seite www.gasmonitors.com.
b) Rufen Sie die Seite für den GasAlertMicroClip auf. Klicken Sie von
der Homepage aus auf folgende Links:
Portables DMulti-Gas Detectors DGasAlertMicroClip
c) Klicken Sie im Menü links auf „ ”.
d) ) Entsprechend der Seriennummer der Einheit die erforderliche
Firmware-Version wählen. Für Einheiten, deren Seriennummer mit
KA1 beginnt, 11H wählen. Für Einheiten, deren Seriennummer mit
KA2 beginnt, 30Cwählen.
aAchtung: Sicherstellen, dass die Firmware-Version 11H oder
höher bzw. 30B oder höher lautet. Andernfalls wenden Sie sich
bitte an BW Technologies.
e) Das Formular ausfüllen und klicken .
f) Das Fenster für den Datei-Download erscheint. Klicken Sie auf
und speichern Sie die ZIP-Datei auf dem Computer.
g) Die ZIP-Datei öffnen und den Dateiinhalt auf dem Computer
speichern.
Schritt 2: Die Firmware vom Computer auf den Detektor laden
a) Schalten Sie den Detektor ein und warten Sie, bis die Startsequenz
abgeschlossen ist.
b) Schließen Sie das IR-Verbindungskabel an den Detektor und an den
USB-Port des Computers an.
(Hinweis: Anweisungen zum Anschluss des IR-Verbindungskabels an den Detektor
und den Computer finden Sie der Anleitung für GasAlertMicroClip Soft Tools.)
c) Öffnen Sie Soft Tools.
(Klicken Sie zweimal auf das BW-Symbol auf dem PC-Desktop oder gehen Sie über
das Startmenü.)
d) Klicken Sie in der Registerkarte „Device Operations“ auf
. Das Popup-Fenster „GasAlertMicroClip Bootloader“
erscheint.
e) Klicken Sie auf .
f) erscheint.
g) Wählen Sie die Firmware-Datei (124499_GMCF-XXX_bootloadable.bin).
h) Klicken Sie auf .
i) Die Firmware wird auf den Detektor geladen (Dauer: ca. 60 Sekunden).
j) Wenn der Ladevorgang abgeschlossen ist, erscheint die Meldung
„Firmware Upload Sucessful“.
k) Die Firmware des Detektors wird jetzt neu konfiguriert. Auf der LCD-
Anzeige des Detektors erscheint „LOADING“. Nach ca. 10 Sekunden
schaltet sich der Detektor ab und zeigt damit einen erfolgreichen
Ladevorgang an.
l) Beim nächsten Einschalten des Detektors erscheint während der
Startsequenz die neueste Firmware-Revision auf der LCD-Anzeige.
Prüfen Sie bitte regelmäßig auf der BW-Internetseite, ob es sich bei der
auf Ihre GasAlertMicroClip-Detektoren geladenen Firmware jeweils um die
aktuellste Version handelt. Wenn Sie Unterstützung benötigen, wenden Sie
sich bitte an den regionalen BW-Verkaufsleiter oder
an eine Niederlassung von BW Technologies.
