1. Manual Information
This Wi-Fi Operation Manual provides information on POS printer’s Wi-Fi settings.
We maintain ongoing efforts to enhance and upgrade the functions and quality of all our products. Product
specifications or user manual content may be changed without prior notice.
2. Instruction Before Wi-Fi Setting
1) Printers with the Wi-Fi module, when the printer is powered on, the power indicator is flashing. After 8-9
seconds when the printer is ready, the power indicator will remain constant light.
2) To set up on a web page or tool after connecting to Wi-Fi, you need to get printer IP information, which
can be obtained in the following two ways:
■Press the FEED button of the printer without releasing, then press the power button to turn on the printer,
when the printer begins to print the self-test page, release the FEED button. Check the IP information in the
self-test page.
■For TP808 (with built-in Wi-Fi module), Shortly press the power button of the printer 3 times, the
printer would print out the IP information automatically;
For other models of POS printers (with external Wi-Fi module), shortly press the Function/Reset Button
(at the interface board) for three times, and the printer would print out the IP information automatically.
3) The Wi-Fi parameters of the printer can be set on web page or the tool of the printer.
■Set on web page
The following browsers are recommended: 360, IE and Firefox.

■Set on the Utility Tool of the printer

4) The printer Wi-Fi can connect with three master devices at the same time in AP mode, and the default IP
address in AP mode is 192.168.1.1.
The printer Wi-Fi can connect with five master devices at the same time in STA mode.

3. Connect Printer to Master Device Through Wi-Fi
1) Turn on the printer which is defaulted as AP mode. In the master device, select and click “Connect” at
“POS_WIFI” hot-spot in the list of the wireless network connection. Type in the password (the default
password is 12345678), and the “POS_WIFI” is successful connected.
2) After the printer is successfully connected to the master device through Wi-Fi, the terminal software can
be communicated through the default IP:192.168.1.1.

4. Shift Wi-Fi Mode / Set Parameters Through Web or Utility Tool
4.1 Shift Wi-Fi Mode / Set Parameters Through Web
1) After the printer is successfully connected to the master device through Wi-Fi, open the browser and type
in the IP address 192.168. 1.1 to enter into the printer setup interface, type in the password (The default
password is 12345678).

2) Click “Login” and enter into the following interface. In the master right corner, you can switch the
languages of the displayed interface.
3) In “Work Mode”, Change the AP mode to STA mode, click “Save”, but don’t restart the printer.

4) Enter into “STA Setting”, click “Scan”, select the wireless internet that you want to connect to. For
example, select “prtwireless” and click “OK”, then type in the password of this wireless internet, select
“Enable” in “Obtain an IP address automatically” , and click “Save”.

5) Click “Restart”, When the interface appears “Rebooting Successful!”, manually restart the printer, so the
STA setting is effective.

6) Click “OK” in “Restore”, then manually restart the printer, so the restore factory setting is effective.
Notes:
1)In the above setting process, wait until all the parameters are set before restarting the printer.
2)Wi-Fi settings do not take effect until the printer has been restarted

4.2 Shift Wi-Fi Mode / Set Parameters Through Utility Tool
Take TP808 as an example in the following steps. All the settings are effective only on the printers with
Wi-Fi function.
1) Click “Advanced Settings”-> “Wi-Fi Setting” in Utility Tool, click “Read” to obtain the current status of
printer.

2) WiFi Module supports AP mode and STA mode, and default as AP mode.
■Under AP mode, printer will be used as a wireless network access point, computer or other mobile
devices can connect to this Wi-Fi.

If it’s necessary to modify SSID and IP address, click “Set” after modifying, then restart the printer.

■Change from AP mode to STA mode.
● Choose STA under Wi-Fi mode, the interface is shifted to the following screenshot:

● Click “Scan”, choose a connectable “hot spot” from SSID options. type in the password of Wi-Fi that
you want to connect to.
● Click “Set”. After it is set successfully, the printer would restart automatically.
SSID
The SSID name that is chosen after scanning “hot spot”
DHCP
Enable/Disable dynamic allocation of IP
IP Address
When DHCP is at Enable status, IP address will be allocated
automatically, no need to do the setting;
When DHCP is at Disable status, IP address must be set to the
same LAN with the Wi-Fi that you connect to

● After the printer is restarted, short press the power button 3 times, so that the current Wi-Fi
parameter information can be printed.
● After completing the setting, connect the computer to the Wi-Fi that the printer connects to,
click “Modify Printer”, choose “TCP/IP”, and set the IP address the same as the printer’s IP
address, then click “OK”. (Following Screenshot takes TP808 as an example)
● Click “Connection Test” to check if the setting is successful.

Notes: When the printer is failed to connect with its master devices, please check if the settings
are correct, and please check if the master devices and the printer are on the same network
segment. When parameter setting error occurs, which leads to the failed connection, please
reset the Wi-Fi parameter by the following way 1) or 2):
1) For TP808 (with built-in Wi-Fi module), shortly press the power button five times, so that the
Wi-Fi parameter would be reset. The printer would restart automatically, so the reset is taken
into effect.
2) For other models of POS printers (with external Wi-Fi module), shortly press the
Function/Reset Button (at the interface board) for five times, and the Wi-Fi parameter would be
reset. The printer would restart automatically, so the reset is taken into effect.

5. Use Printer Driver Through Wi-Fi Connection
1) In Utility Tool or Web, set the printer Wi-Fi to STA mode, and connect the printer to the available Wi-Fi
nearby. ( Regarding the setting detail, please refer to Chapter 3 and 4 )
2) In the list of the wireless network connection of the master device, find and connect to the same Wi-Fi
that the printer is connecting to.
3) Install the printer driver (take TP808 as an example) in the master device. ( Please refer to the Driver
Manual at http://www.hprt.com/Downloads.html )
4) In the master device, click “Start”——“Settings”——“Device”——“Device and Printers” (take Windows 10
operation system as an example) to find the icon of the printer driver TP808 that you just installed.
5) Right click the icon, choose“Printer Properties”.

6) Under the function “Ports”, click “Add Port”. In “Printer Ports”, choose “Standard TCP/IP Port”, and click
“New Port”.
