Welcome to the
HTC One (M8)
This Quick Start guide tells
you how to set up your HTC
One (M8) and use some
common features.
How to Turn on
the Device
To turn on your phone to
start, press and hold the
Power button.
Then follow the instructions
to set up your phone. To
turn the phone off, press
and hold the Power button.
APower Options message
will appear. Tap Power Off
on the screen.
How to Change
Your Ringtone
1. From your
Home screen,
Open the App
Drawer.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Sound.
4. Tap Phone Ringtone.
5. Tap the desired ringtone.
6. Tap APPLY.
How to Answer a
Call
1. When you receive a call,
the Incoming call
screen opens.
2. Tap the green phone
icon to answer.
How to Send a
Text Message
1. From the Home screen,
tap Messaging.
2. Tap the New message
icon.
3. In the To field, enter
the recipient’s phone
number, or tap the
People icon to select
from your Contacts.
4. Tap the Type Message
field and enter the
desired message.
5. Tap the Send icon.
How to setup a
Yahoo!Xtra email
account
1. From your
Home screen,
Open the App
Drawer.
2. Tap Mail.
3. Tap Other
(POP3/IMAP).
4. Enter your Xtra email
address.
5. Enter your Xtra
password.
6. Tap Manual Setup.
7. Amend the POP Server
to be pop3.xtra.co.nz
8. Tap Security Type and
select SSL (accept all
certificates).
9. Make sure the Server
Port is 995.
10.Tap NEXT.
11.Amend the SMTP
Server to be
send.xtra.co.nz
12.Tap Security Type and
select SSL (accept all
certificates).
13.Make sure the Server
Port is 465
14.Tap NEXT.
15.Amend the YOUR NAME
field to be the name
displayed in emails you
send from this phone
e.g. John Doe
16.Tap FINISH SETUP

How to Connect
to Facebook
1. From your Home
screen, Open the
App Drawer.
2. Tap Facebook.
3. Enter your
registered email
address or
Phone number.
4. Tap the Password field.
5. Enter your password
details.
6. Tap Log in.
7. Complete any other
required settings.
8. Tap the Home Key to
exit.
How to Toggle
Mobile Data on
or off
1. From your
Home screen,
Open the App
Drawer.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap the Switch to turn
Mobile Data On or Off.
How to Connect
to a Wi-Fi
Network
1. From your
Home screen,
Open the App
Drawer.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap the Wi-Fi switch to
set it to ON.
4. Tap the word Wi-Fi.
5. Tap the desired network
you wish to connect with.
6. If the network is
secured, enter the
password.
7. Tap Connect.
8. You will now be
connected to the
Wi-Fi network.
Install and View
Usage on the
Spark NZ App
1. Open the Play
Store and
search for
Spark NZ.
1. Tap and install the
Spark NZ app.
2. Wait for install to finish.
3. Press the Home Key.
4. From your app
drawer, tap the
Spark icon.
5. Tap Register.
6. Enter your mobile
number and tap Next.
7. Enter the SMS
validation code and
your desired password in
the required fields.
8. Tap Sign In.
9. Tap the Menu
button in the
top left corner.
10.Tap My Usage.
Note: By default you will be
automatically logged in
whenever you open the
Spark App in the future.
Appendix
Messaging:
Tap this icon to send an
SMS/MMS message or
read messages.
App Drawer:
Tap this icon to display
all the apps installed
on your phone
Play Store:
Tap to download more
apps, games, books and
music
Phone:
Tap here to make a call,
view your contacts and
more
Settings:
Tap to open your phones
Settings.
People:
View all your contacts
to either Call, Email,
SMS or Share them.
Internet:
Tap here to access the
internet on your phone.
Facebook:
Tap this icon to open the
Facebook app
Mail:
Setup your phone to send
and receive email.
