It is imperative that Human Touch® products are repaired in a manner that ensures product safety and regulatory compliance and that is fully consistent with the practices used
during the manufacturing process. Therefore, Human Touch requires that all product repairs are performed using only factory-new parts and in accordance with these repair
instructions. Failure to adhere to these instructions voids the product warranty and releases Human Touch from all liability for injury or product damage resulting from the repair.

Tools Required: two small pliers, small Phillips screwdriver, small flathead screwdriver NOTE: SAVE ALL SCREWS FOR USE DURING REASSEMBLY.
1. Use both hands to pull the right-hand side panel off the chair.
2. Locate the footrest cable (Fig.1).
3. Scrape off the hot glue from the top of the handle where the cable comes through the handle (Fig.2).
NOTE: Some chairs may secure the cable to the handle using a small metal clip. In this case, use
a flat-head screwdriver to remove the clip.
4. Using two pliers, loosen the two nuts on either side of the black bracket until the cable is loose enough
to pull out from the bracket (Fig.3). NOTE: Loosen the upper nut completely.
5. Pull the able down to detach the barrel from the bracket.
6. Push the cable up, so the barrel on the end of the cable is above the handle.
7. Rotate the barrel 90 degrees so it will fit through the slot on the handle, then pull the cable through the handle.
8. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screws that secure the cable guides underneath the chair, freeing the cables.

DETERMINE THE CORRECT CHAIR VERSION
1. Remove the seat cushion from the chair.
2. If the seat cushion is supported by fabric secured with a zipper, you have Version 1. Go to “Removing a Version 1 Footrest Cable from the Bracket Underneath the Chair”.
3. If the seat cushion is supported by canvas secured with metal hooks you have Version 2. Go to “Removing a Version 2 Footrest Cable from the Bracket Underneath the Chair”.

REMOVING A VERSION 1 FOOTREST CABLE FROM THE BRACKET UNDERNEATH THE CHAIR
1. Using a small scissors, cut the threads that secure the seat cushion support zipper then open the zipper to expose the gas cylinder (Fig.5)
2. Using needle-nosed pliers, remove the cotter hinge pin and the pin from the gas cylinder (Fig.6).
3. Locate the point at which the gas cylinder connects to the footrest, secured by a silver pin.
4. Using a small flat-head screwdriver, remove the “C” clip from the pin, then remove the pin (Fig.7).
5. Lift the rear of the gas cylinder then pull it and the footrest cable through the seat opening.
6. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to open the split in the bracket that secures the cable to the bracket (Fig. 8).
7. Completely loosen the nut that secures the cable to the side of the bracket closest to the cable end.
8. Pull the cable away from the bracket to free the barrel from the bracket.
9. Remove the cable from the chair. (Fig.5)

REMOVING A VERSION 2 CABLE FROM THE BRACKET UNDERNEATH THE CHAIR
1. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to open the split in the bracket that secures the cable to the underside of the chair (Fig. 8).
2. Completely loosen the nut that secures the cable to the side of the bracket closest to the cable end.
3. Pull the cable away from the bracket to free the barrel from the bracket.
4. Remove the cable from the chair.

The cable has two distinct ends. The end with the narrower barrel installs onto the footrest handle;
the end with the wider barrel installs underneath the chair (Fig.5).

1. Place the wider barrel into the slotted bracket, underneath the chair. Holding the barrel parallel to the bracket, pull it so it sits all the way in the bracket.
2. Using a pair of pliers, close the split bracket to secure the end of the cable.
3. Guide the cable through the bracket opening (Fig. 8).
4. Make sure the nut installed on the cable closest to the chair bracket is completely loose, then place the two nuts on either side of the mounting bracket. Tighten the nuts
enough to hold the cable in place (Fig.8).
5. Replace the hinge pin and cotter pin to secure the gas cylinder to the seat (Fig.6).
6. Replace the pin and “C” clip to secure the front end of the gas cylinder to the chair.
7. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, replace the screw that secures the cable guide to the chair on the underside of the chair.
INSTALLING A VERSION 1 CABLE INTO THE BRACKET UNDERNEATH THE CHAIR
1. Holding the smaller barrel perpendicular to the handle, insert it through the handle, rotate it 90 degrees, then pull it to secure it into the handle.
2. If you are installing a Version 1 cable, secure the barrel using hot glue; If you are installing a Version 2 cable, seure the barrel using the metal clip you removed earlier.
3. Guide the cable through the bracket opening (Fig.1).
4. Holding the handle in the down position, position the cable with the two nuts near the end of the cable on either side of the mounting bracket, with the cable
pulled tight. Tighten the nuts enough to hold it into the bracket (Fig.1).
5. Secure the cable underneath the chair using the cable guides and screws you removed earlier.
6. Route the cable under the chair.
7. If you have a Version 1 chair, go to “Installing a Version 1 Cable into the Bracket Underneath the Chair. If you have a Version 2 chair, go to “Installing a Version 2 Cable into the
Bracket Underneath the Chair”
INSTALLING THE CABLE INTO THE HANDLE
1. Place the wider barrel into the slotted bracket, underneath the chair. Holding the barrel parallel to the bracket, pull it so it sits all the way in the bracket.
2. Using a pair of pliers, close the split bracket to secure the end of the cable.
3. Guide the cable through the bracket opening (Fig. 8).
4. Place the two nuts that are installed on the cable on either side of the mounting bracket. Tighten the nuts enough to hold the cable in place.
5. Insert the barrel into the split bracket, then use a pliers to close the bracket.
6. Place the gas cylinder into place, then secure it to the footrest using the silver pin.
7. Align the other end of the gas cylinder with the mounting point, insert the pin, then secure it using the cotter pin.
8. Close the seat support zipper.
INSTALLING A VERSION 2 CABLE INTO THE BRACKET UNDERNEATH THE CHAIR

1. Test the footrest handle. If it is not working properly, then:
a. Put the handle in the down position.
b. Locate the nut on the top of the cable guide near the handle. Turn the nut counterclockwise until the cable is tight. Turn the nut on the bottom until both
nuts are touching the bracket.
c. Test the handle and make sure the footrest moves properly.
d. Continue to make adjustments as necessary following the above procedure.
2. When the handle is operating as desired, turn both nuts so they are tight against the bracket. This will hold the cable in place.
3. On the opposite end of the cable, tighten the nuts the same way to secure that end.
