1.3 Purpose of this manual
Before you use this product for the first time or if you have
been asked to carry out other work on the product, please read
this manual.
The use and the handling of the product described in the fol-
lowing, as well as its use, are not self-explanatory and are de-
scribed in detail in this manual and the associated technical
documentation.
This manual will help you to use the product as intended, prop-
erly, effectively, and safely. Therefore, you are requested to
read the following chapters attentively and carefully. Please re-
fer to it every time you require decisive details.
This manual informs and warns you of risks, against which the
risk reduction through the design and protective measures may
not be effective or not fully effective.

1.5.3 Representation of procedural instructions
In the case of procedural instructions, there are the two follow-
ing representations:
Procedural instructions with a fixed sequence
Procedural instructions, whose sequence must be complied
with without fail are listed with sequential numbering (1., 2., 3.,
etc.).
An example for procedural instructions with a fixed sequence:
1. Remove the transport securing device.
2. First fill the product.
3. Switch the product on.
Procedural instructions with a random sequence
Procedural instructions that have a random sequence are
listed as bullet points (-).

An example of a procedural instruction with a random se-
quence:
– Clean the display.
– Rinse the product.
1.5.4 Representation of intermediate results/results
In the case of some activities, it is necessary to carry out work
steps with intermediate results and end results.
Intermediate results are the consequence of activities; they are
marked with an indented arrow.
End results represent the end of an activity and are repre-
sented with a flag.
An example for a procedural instruction with intermediate re-
sult and final result:

DANGER – The signal word indicates a hazardous situation
with a high level of risk, which, if not avoided, will result lethal
or serious injury.

Delivery. They are made available to you at the conclusion of
the contract at the latest. You will also find these under
www.hydac.com -> General Terms and Conditions (T&C).
This manual was prepared to the best of our knowledge. Nev-
ertheless and despite the greatest care, it cannot be excluded
that mistakes could have crept in. Therefore, please under-
stand that, in the absence of any provisions to the contrary
hereinafter, our warranty and liability – for any legal reasons
whatsoever – are excluded in respect of the information in this
manual. In particular, we shall not be liable for lost profit or

2 Safety information
The General Safety Information provides important information
on handling the device. A prerequisite for safe work is the
maintenance of all stated General Safety Instructions and pre-
cautions. In addition, the local accident prevention specifica-
tions and general safety regulations that apply for the area of
operation of the device must be observed.
DANGER
Dangerous electrical voltage warning
Danger of fatal injury
uAll electrical jobs must be carried out by specialists with
the respective knowledge for the job.
uPull the power plug and ensure the unit is deenergized.
DANGER
Danger due to unintended use
Bodily injury and damage to property
uNever operate the filter unit in potentially explosive atmos-
pheres.
uUse the filter housing/filter unit only with the permissible
operating media.
WARNING
The hydraulic system is under pressure during operation

uThe hydraulic system must be depressurized before per-
forming any work on the hydraulic system.

The filter unit will be damaged/destroyed
uObserve the permissible pressure at the suction port (IN).
NOTICE
Siphoning effect
Reservoir overflowing/leaking = oil spill
uRemove the ends of the hoses from the reservoir after op-
eration or shut the shut-off device in the suction line.
NOTICE
Pressure port/outlet OUT closed
The filter unit/filter housing will be damaged/destroyed
uMake sure that the pressure port is always open during
operation.
NOTICE
Incorrect storage
The clogging indicator will be damaged/destroyed.
uMake sure that the clogging indicator is free, without any
contact to the floor or to other components.

NOTICE
Do not grip the filter unit/filter housing at the clogging indicator
The clogging indicator will be damaged/destroyed.
uGrip the filter unit/filter housing with your hands on the fil-
ter housing to transport or to store it.
NOTICE
Impermissible operating medium
The filter housing/filter unit will be damaged/destroyed.
uUse the filter housing/filter unit only together with mineral
oils and mineral oil based-raffinates respectively.

3 Filter housing overview
The OffLineFilterPressure OLFP is a stationary bypass filter
and is meant for the removal of oil degradation products, water
and solid particles from hydraulic and lubricating fluids. Due to
its compact construction, the OLFP is also ideally suited for
use in even the smallest of installation spaces.
The TriMicron filter elements used have the following proper-
ties:
– Optimum adsorption of oil degradation products in the filter
material without rapid "clogging"
– Very high contamination retention capacity through a pro-
nounced depth structure
The advantages of the Offline Filter Pressure OLFP are:
– Longer life expectancy for the main flow filter
– Improvement in component lifetime
– Higher machine availability
– Longer oil change intervals
– Minimum space requirement due to compact design
– Very easy maintenance
– High dirt holding capacity of the elements
– Environmentally friendly element disposal as it can be
incenerated

3.1 Proper/designated use
Use the filter housing only for the application described in the
following:
The OffLineFilterPressure OLFP is a stationary bypass filter
and is meant for the removal of oil degradation products, water
and solid particles from hydraulic and lubricating fluids.
Intended use of the product also extends to the following:
– Observing all instructions in the instruction manual.
– Performing inspection and maintenance work.
NOTICE
Impermissible operating medium
The filter housing/filter unit will be damaged/destroyed.
uUse the filter housing/filter unit only together with mineral
oils and mineral oil based-raffinates respectively.
Claims for defects or liability, regardless of the legal founda-
tion, do not apply with incorrect or improper installation, com-
missioning, usage, handling, storage, maintenance, repair, use
of unsuitable components or other circumstances for which the
manufacturer is not responsible.
The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for determining
the interfaces for installation in a system or the installation, use
or functionality of the product in this system.

3.2 Improper Use or Use Deviating from Intended Use
DANGER
Danger due to unintended use
Bodily injury and damage to property
uNever operate the filter unit in potentially explosive atmos-
pheres.
uUse the filter housing/filter unit only with the permissible
operating media.
Any other or extending use beyond this shall not be considered
intended use. HYDACFILTERSYSTEMSGMBH will assume
no liability for any damage resulting from such use. This risk is
borne solely by the owner.
Improper use may result in hazards and/or will damage the fil-
ter unit. Examples of improper use:
– Operation in potentially explosive atmospheres.
– Operation under non-approved operational conditions.
– Operation when the safety devices are defective.
– Modifications to the power unit made by the user or pur-
chaser.
– Inadequate monitoring of parts that are subject to wear
and tear.
– Improperly performed repair work.
