Notes to the Installer:
Read the entire installation manual prior to
beginning the installation of the accessory.
Factory wire harness colors are subject to
change, please use the specified pin # in the
harness connector to identify the correct wire
for T-Tap installation.
Ensure that the vehicle is properly protected in
the area that the accessory is to be installed.
To prevent vehicle damage, never place tools on
top of painted surfaces, seats, dash pad,
console or floor carpet / mat.
Always wear appropriate safety gear to include
gloves and eye protection when required.
Prior to disconnecting the negative lead to the
battery, note the AM/FM and satellite set
frequencies on the inspection page, if
applicable.
To prevent stress on the remote start wire
harness, ensure the tilt/telescopic steering
column is fully extended, if equipped.
Ensure the transportation fuse is properly
installed before performing the function check
on page 18.

Start System. The transmitters provided with your Hyundai Remote Start System
are to be used in place of the original transmitters. The original transmitters must
not be used to operate the locks on a vehicle equipped with the Hyundai Remote
Start System. The original transmitters can cause the vehicle’s alarm system to

*Remove and isolate the negative battery cable from the
battery.
*Using alcohol, clean the top surface of the air filter box
assembly.
*Remove the backing on the underhood label and mount in
place, as shown above.

*Carefully pull the weatherstrip away from the side of the
driver’s side kick panel.
*Remove the hood release lever by removing the (1) phillips
screw (if equipped) and pulling toward the center of the
vehicle.
*Remove the driver’s side kick panel from the vehicle by
pulling backward to release the upper push clip and out-
ward to release the (1) pressure clip.

system into service mode and disconnect the vehicle battery
before performing any service on the vehicle.

*Disassembly Tip - Remove the fuse panel access cover
to assist in the removal of the driver’s side dash end cap.
*Remove the driver’s side dash end cap panel by prying
outward to disengage the (4) pressure clips.

*Remove the (2) phillips screws from the side and (1) from underneath of the lower dash finish panel, as shown above.
*Disengage the (4) retaining tabs located on the side of the lower dash finish panel.
*Using a trim removal tool, carefully pry outward to release the (4) pressure clips on the top.
*Remove the OBDII connector from the panel.
*Disconnect the remaining connectors, if equipped.
*Removethe (4) 10 mm bolts and (1)10mmnut(Sedan,VINstarts with “5”) or (5) 10mmbolts(CoupeandSedan,VINstarts with
“K”) securing the metal knee bolster panel.
*Remove the metal knee bolster panel from the vehicle.

*Remove the (3) phillips screws securing the steering column shroud (1 underneath and 2 behind the steering wheel). Turn the
steering wheel for access.
*Release tilt steering wheel adjuster lever.
*Pull down to separate (Use trim tool, if necessary) and remove the lower steering column shroud from the vehicle.
**NOTE: To access screws, insert key and turn to the ACC position, in order to prevent the steering wheel from locking.

*Carefully pull the weatherstrip away from the driver’s side “A” pillar.
*Starting at the top, partially remove the driver’s side “A” pillar trim panel by carefully pulling inward to release
the (1) Tether Clip and the (2) Pressure Clips.
*With the “A” pillartrimpanelpartiallypulled away from the bodystructure,reachbehindthe trim panel and cut
the tether clip, as shown above.
*Remove the “A” pillar trim panel from the vehicle.

*Using pliers, pull the remaining portion of the tether clip from the “A” pillar body structure.
*Remove the portion of the tether clip that is in the “A” pillar trim panel by twisting counterclockwise 90° and
pulling outward. Discard both portions of the tether clip, as shown above.

*Clean the area of the windshield where the antenna will be mounted with an alcohol-based glass cleaning solution.
Ensure the glass surface is completely dry.
*Mount the dipole antenna to the windshield approximately 0.5” below the mirror’s lowest attachment point and/or any wind-
shield electronic gridwork, as shown above. Remove protective backing. Press firmly to ensure a good glass to adhesive bond.

*Wrap the antenna cable with (3) pieces of supplied black
foam tape at the distances shown to the right to ensure
that the antenna will stay in place after routing.
*Route the antenna cable vertically on the right hand side
of the mirror mount up to the headliner. Tuck the cable
behind the headliner and down the “A” pillar. Use (3)
small wire ties to secure the antenna cable to the factory
harness located within the “A” pillar. Trim off excess
wireties.

*Locate and remove the relay assembly, attached to the back side of the gray plastic wire harness protector, by sliding toward the
center of the vehicle. The relay is located to the left of the MDPS Control Module, as shown above.
*Wrap the relay with (1) supplied gray foam tape, as shown above. Position and secure the foam wrapped relay assembly to the
factory wire harness with (1) supplied large wire tie, as shown above. Trim off excess wire tie.
CAUTION! Becarefulnottobend/damageanyoftheterminalsinsidetheremotestartmodule.

*Route the antenna cable past the left side of the dashboard and down to the vehicle dash wall.
*Plug the wire harness and the antenna cable into the remote start module before mounting.
*Ensure all connectors are properly locked into position.
*Secure the remote start module to the factory clutch pedal location, on the vehicle dash wall, to the left of the steering column
with (1) supplied M8 bolt and (1) supplied large wire tie, as shown above. Trim off excess wire tie.
*Using torque wrench, torque to 15 lb-ft (21 Nm).
*Secure the excess antenna cable to the available module mounting hole with (1) small wire tie, as shown above.

connectors under the steering column to the factory M03
ignition switch connector.
*Disconnect the factory male 6-pin M03 ignition switch
connector and plug in the corresponding remote start
harness connectors.
*Secure the factory male 6-pin M03 ignition switch
connector and the remote start harness female 6-pin
connector to the remote start harness with (2) large wire

engaging the T-Tap.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Black wire located in pin #6 of the 34-pin I/P-E male connector, located at the front of the fuse
panel.
*Connect the Black/White (Horn Output) wire from the remote start harness to the Black wire (Pin #6 of the I/P-E connector) by
engaging the T-Tap.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Green wire located in pin#34 of the 34-pin I/P-E male connector.
*Connect the Green (Hood Ajar Input) wire from the remote start harness to the Green wire (Pin #34 of the I/P-E connector) by
engaging the T-Tap.
*Observe the 1st character of the Vehicle Identification Number (5 or K), located in the driver’s door opening “B” pillar area.
*Using pliers, crimp aT-Tap on the Orange (“5”VIN-Code)or the Red/Orange (“K”VIN-Code)wire located in pin#29of the 34-
pin I/P-E male connector.
*Using pliers, crimp aT-Tap on the Orange wire located in pin #30 of the 34-pin I/P-E male connector.
*Connect the Orange/Red (Parking Light Output - Left) wire from the remote start harness to the Orange or Red/Orange wire (Pin
#29 of the I/P-E connector) by engaging the T-Tap.
*Connect the Orange (Parking Light Output - Right) wire from the remote start harness to the Orange wire (Pin #30 of the I/P-E
connector) by engaging the T-Tap.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Blue wire located in pin #26of the 34-pin I/P-E male connector.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Pink wire (W/O HID) or Orange wire (With HID) located in pin #15 of the 34-pin I/P-E male
connector.
*Connectthe Blue/Red (Headlight Output -Left)wirefromthe remote start harness totheBluewire(Pin #26 of the I/P-Econnector)
by engaging the T-Tap.
*Connect the Pink (Headlight Output - Right) wire from the remote start harness to the Pink wire (W/O HID) orOrange wire (With

*Connect the Green (Hood Ajar Input) wire from the remote start harness to the Green wire (Pin #34 of the I/P-E connector) by
engaging the T-Tap.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Red/Orange wire located in pin#29 of the 34-pin I/P-E male connector.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Orange wire located in pin #30of the 34-pin I/P-E male connector.
*Connect the Orange/Red (Parking Light Output - Left) wire from the remote start harness to the Red/Orange wire (Pin #29 of the
I/P-E connector) by engaging the T-Tap.
*Connect the Orange (Parking Light Output - Right) wire from the remote start harness to the Orange wire (Pin #30 of the I/P-E
connector) by engaging the T-Tap.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Blue wire located in pin#26 of the 34-pin I/P-E male connector.
*Using pliers, crimp a T-Tap on the Pink wire (W/O HID) or Orange wire (With HID) located in pin #15 of the 34-pin I/P-E male
connector.

*Locate the factory GE07, 10 mm ground bolt in the driver’s kick panel area, near the vehicle dash wall.
*Route the Black (Ground) wire with ring terminal behind the factory wire harness to the GE07 factory ground location.
*Removethe10mm bolt. Position the Black (Ground) wire with ring terminal over theboltandreinstallwiththefactorygroundwire.
*Torque to15lb-ft(21Nm).
*Route theYellow (Dome Light Output) along the factory harness, up to the driver’s “A” pillar area.

*Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
*Reconnect the negative battery cable. If the horn be-
gins sounding, press the disarm / programming button

codes have been triggered. Any fault codes should be
addressed before proceeding to the next step.

The parking lights will flash one time, the horn will beep once,
then the vehicle will crank and start. Once started, the horn will
beep once again and the parking lights will turn on and stay on
signifying the engine is running.
Brake Pedal Safety - Press unlock and enter the
vehicle. Press the brake pedal.
Items To Be Checked Results Of The Check
Door Lock - Close the engine hood and all doors and
press the lock button on the transmitter.
The parking lights will flash one time to indicate that the vehicle
is armed and locked.
The parking lights will flash one time and the horn will beep one
time giving audible confirmation that the vehicle is locked and
armed.
Door Unlock / Headlight Welcome Feature - Press the
unlock button on the transmitter. The parking lights will flash two times to indicate that the
vehicle is disarmed, the headlights will turn on for 15 seconds
and unlock the driver’s door only.
NOTE: If all doors unlock with the first press of the unlock
button on the transmitter, check the unlock operation of the
factory transmitter. To enable priority unlock, press the lock and
unlock buttons on the factory transmitter simultaneously for 5
seconds or more. The hazard lights will flash 4 times to confirm
the unlock mode has been changed.
The parking lights will flash two times to indicate that the vehicle
is disarmed, the headlights will turn on for 15 seconds and unlock
all remaining doors.
Door Unlock / Headlight Welcome Feature - Press the
unlock button on the transmitter a second time within 5
seconds of unlocking the driver’s door.
The engine/remote start will turn off immediately.
The hood should not have to be lifted to activate the hood safety
switch.
Door Lock - Press the lock button on the transmitter a
second time within 5 seconds.
The engine/remote start will turn off.
Remote Engine Start - Make sure the key is removed
from the ignition switch and the engine hood and trunk
are closed. Activate the remote engine start by pressing
lock followed by start within 3 seconds.
Key-In-Sense - Insert the ignition key into the ignition
switch but keep it in the OFF position. Activate the
remote engine start using the transmitter.
Hood Safety Switch - Remove the key from the
ignition and activate the remote engine start. After the
vehicle has started, press the unlock button on the
transmitter to disarm the security system and pull the
hood release lever to release the hood. Open the door
and exit the vehicle.
The parking lights will flash once and the ignition will turn on as
if it is going to start. But, the horn will beep twice and the
remote engine start will not attempt to start the vehicle since it
detects the key in the ignition. In addition, the driver’s door will
unlock and the vehicle’s interior light will illuminate and quickly
fades off.
Trunk Release - Press and hold the trunk release button
on the transmitter for 3 seconds to activate. The trunk will open.
Ensure the transportation fuse is properly installed before performing the function check.
If the transmitters fail to operate, refer to Page 26 (Transmitter Programming and Battery Test Procedure).
NOTE: Interior lamp switch must be set to the door position to
illuminate.

Items To Be Checked Results Of The Check
Panic Feature - Press and hold the red panic button on
the transmitter for 3 seconds to activate. Press the red
panic button a second time to deactivate.
The parking lights will flash and the horn will beep for up to 30
seconds.
Quick Stop Feature - Start the vehicle with the ignition
key. With the vehicle in park and foot off the brake
pedal, press the remote start button on the transmitter.
Remove the key from the ignition.
Verify that the horn beeps once, the parking lights and headlights
turn on and that the vehicle remains running. The driver’s door
willunlock (if previously locked). Theparkinglightswillremain
on, but the headlights will turn off after 15 seconds.
Car Find Feature - Press the car find button on the
transmitter. Repeat this process twice. The parking lights will flash and the horn will beep 5 times.
Subsequent presses within 5 seconds of the first press will beep
the horn slightly louder.
Interior Lamp - Press the unlock button on the trans-
mitter to disarm the alarm system.
The vehicle’s interior light will illuminate up to 30 seconds or until
the vehicle ignition has been turned on or the vehicle has been
armed/locked by the transmitter or auto arm/lock feature (Refer to
the Remote Start Owner’s Guide for details on the auto arm/lock
feature).
NOTE: Interior lamp switch must be set to the door position to
illuminate.
Alarm Trigger - Press the lock button on the transmitter.
Press the trim switch on the door panel to the unlock
position and open any door. Press the unlock button
on the transmitter to disarm the security system. Repeat
this procedure twice, by opening the hood and then the
trunk using the release inside the vehicle.
The engine/remote start will turn off, the parking lights will start
flashing and the horn will start beeping for up to 30 seconds.
Rear Defrost - Close the trunk and activate the remote
engine start. Press the remote start button on the
transmitter a second time after the vehicle has started.
The parking lights will flash one time. Locate the rear defroster
switch and verify that the indicator portion of the switch is
illuminated.
