10 Operation
1 After the reader is powered on and becomes ready, the red LED will be lit.
2 Bring a card close to the reader until the green LED is lit and the buzzer beeps. Then, the
reader transmits the RF card data to the controller and changes the LED color to red for next
reading.

1. Be sure to use only the standard adapter that is specified in the specification sheet. Usin

The IDTECK SR30/SR30U/SR30B Smart Card Reader is a proximity reader with the read rang
e of up to 4 inches (10cm) and can be installed on any doorframe or mounted on any wall.
There are seven 2-color LED indicators (red and green) and a built-in Piezo buzzer in the rea
der so it guarantees you accurate and reliable system operations. The IDTECK SR30/SR30U/S
R30B can read flowing cards.
IDTECK SR30 is compatible with Philips Mifare™ cards (ISO14443 Type A). It reads the serial
number stored on the card and transmits the data to the controller in various formats.
IDTECK SR30U is compatible with ISO14443 Type A/B cards. It reads the serial number store
d on the card and transmits the data to the controller in various formats.
IDTECK SR30B is compatible with the card issued by PRG2000B. It reads the IDs stored on th
e card and transmits the data to the controller in various formats.

1Installation Steps
1.1 Drilling Screw Holes
Drill two 6-32 or M3 screw holes 3.3" (8.38cm) apart vertically, and drill one 1/2" hole for th
e reader cable between the two holes. (See the ‘Figure: Installation Layout’ below).
1.2 Installing the Reader Module
Put the reader cable into the center hole and hold the reader module using two 6-32 or M3
screws.
1.3 Insert Reader Module
Insert the reader module into the bezel and push it up until you hear a click.

2.1 When installing a reader on a metal wall
The read range may get reduced if the reader is installed on a metal surface. To prevent suc
h a read range reduction, install a Spacer between the metal surface and the reader.

The read range may get reduce if more than 2 readers are installed side by side or back to ba
ck. Also, when a card is presented to one of the readers, the other reader may wrongly reco
gnize the card as well. To prevent such interference, make sure the distance between reader
s is at least 20cm.

3LED Control
You can control the LED of the device at your preference.
Connect the LED Control Input wire (Yellow wire) to the NO port of controller relay output,
and GND to the COM port. Set I/O of the controller; then you can change the color of the L
ED. While the LED control is working, the green LED stays on.
This function is used for changing the LED color representing standby from red to green and

applied to make various modifications according to the different I/O setting of the controller.
For more information about the I/O setting of the controller, refer to the controller’s user ma
nual.
4Buzzer Control
You can control the buzzer of the device at your preference.
Connect the Buzzer Control Input wire (Blue wire) to the NO port of controller relay output,
and GND to the COM port. Set I/O of the controller; then you can generate beep sound. Wh
ile the buzzer control is working, the product keeps sounding beep.
The controller can use the I/O setting to set the buzzer controller so that it sounds the additi
onal beep for authorized/unauthorized access. For more information about the I/O setting o
f the controller, refer to the controller’s user manual.
If you keep generating beep sound, the reader can’t read the card.
54-byte(34bit) / 3-byte(26bit) Select In (SR30 Only)
The reader transmits the serial number of a card which is a 4-byte number. It is possible to s
et the reader to transmit only 3 bytes with the first one byte removed. It is useful when the c
onnected controller supports 3-byte data only. To use this function, connect the 34-bit / 26-
bit selection input (Gray wire) to ground.
It is unavoidable that some card numbers are duplicated in 3-byte output.
