This manual has been prepared for the owner and operators of a JET WRH Series Wire Rope Hoist. Its

purpose, aside from machine operation, is to promote safety using accepted operating and maintenance

procedures. To obtain maximum life and efficiency from your hoist and to aid in using it safely, please

read this manual thoroughly and follow the instructions carefully.

To take advantage of this warranty, the product or part must be returned for examination, postage

prepaid, to an Authorized Service Center designated by our office. Proof of purchase date and an

explanation of the complaint must accompany the merchandise. If our inspection discloses a defect, we

will either repair or replace the product at our discretion, or refund the purchase price if we cannot readily

and quickly provide a repair or replacement. We will return the repaired product or replacement at WMH

Tool Group’s expense, but if it is determined there is no defect, or that the defect resulted from causes

not within the scope of WMH Tool Group’s warranty, then the user must bear the cost of storing and

returning the product. This warranty gives you specific legal rights; you may also have other rights, which

vary from state to state.

WMH Tool Group sells through distributors only. Members of the WMH Tool Group reserve the right to

effect at any time, without prior notice, alterations to parts, fittings and accessory equipment, which they

may deem necessary for any reason whatsoever.

Warning

1. Read and understand the entire owners manual before attempting installation or operation.

2. Do not exceed rated capacity.

3. Supporting structure used with this device must provide adequate support to handle all hoist

operations plus the weight of the hoist and attached equipment. If in doubt, consult a registered

structural engineer.

4. Do not use the hoist in damp, wet or poorly lit conditions. Do not use electrically powered equipment

in the presence of flammable gases or liquids.

5. Do not use with twisted, kinked, frayed or otherwise damaged wire rope.

6. Do not use if hoist is damaged or malfunctioning.

7. Always take time to study the job to be performed and choose the safest method. Do not place

yourself or other people in an unsafe position.

8. Do not lift people or loads over people. Always keep people clear from load path.

9. Do not use the hoist if the hook is stretched, deformed, or has a broken or missing safety latch.

Always replace the safety latch and/or the hook before placing the hoist back in service.

10. Always keep a minimum of three (3) wraps of wire rope on the reel.

11. Never leave a suspended load unattended.

12. Do not swing a suspended load.

13. Always inspect hoist before each use. Replace any component that is damaged or malfunctioning.

Check that the wire rope is evenly wrapped around the reel and properly seated in the pulley of the

snatch block.

14. Always use gloves when handling wire rope. Do not wear loose clothing which can become entangled

in moving parts.

15. Give your work undivided attention. Looking around, carrying on a conversation and “horse-play” are

careless acts that can result in serious injury.

16. Do not operate this tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or any medication.

17. Failure to comply with the above warnings may result in personal injury and/or property damage.

Unpacking

Open shipping container and check for shipping

damage. Report any damage immediately to

your distributor and shipping agent. Do not

discard any shipping material until the Wire

Rope Hoist is installed and running properly.

Read the instruction manual thoroughly for

installation, maintenance and safety instructions.

Installation

Use an assistant to help hold the Hoist while you

secure it in place.

The Hoist can be installed on an overhead pipe

or square tubing using the hanger brackets atop

the Hoist. See Figure 1. Make sure the hanger

brackets are firmly secured to prevent the Hoist

from slipping on the pipe or tubing.

The Hoist may also be mounted to a movable

trolley that rolls along an overhead beam.

Remove the hanger brackets and use the

provided screws and washers to secure the

Hoist to the angle irons on the trolley. Figure 2

shows the mounting of the Hoist to the WRT-

2000 JET Trolley (stock no. 107004, available

from your dealer).

Operation

For proper and safe operation, the wire rope

should be evenly wrapped around the reel

(Figure 3), and seated properly in the pulley on

the snatch block.

Using the Snatch Block

The snatch block allows a 2:1 lifting ratio. The

bottom hook is looped back and inserted into the

hole on the frame (see Figure 4). The snatch

block is then attached to the load. The lifting

height is thereby halved, but the load capacity is

doubled to the maximum.

General Operating Procedure:

1. The reel will not “freewheel”; you must use

the switch to pull out or reel in the wire rope.

Press the upper part of the rocker switch on

the handle to reel in the wire rope. Press the

lower part of the rocker switch to lower the

wire rope.

NOTE: When the hook is retracted too far

into the reel, it will push the cable guide

which activates a shut off switch to prevent

damage to the Hoist.

2. Pull out the wire rope by grasping the hook,

and pull the hook away from the hoist while

ressing the lower part of the rocker switch.

Always leave at least three turns of the wire

rope on the reel.

3. Attach either the main hook or the snatch

block to your load. Make sure the safety

latch on the hook closes completely before

lifting. Do not load the hook in front of the

safety latch (Figure 5), and do not use the

wire rope as a sling (Figure 6).

4. Stand clear, and press the rocker switch to

raise the load.

Maintenance

Unplug the hoist from the power supply

before doing any maintenance.

Inspect the hoist before each use. If cracking or

distortion appears in the frame, do not use the

hoist. Inspect the hooks – if they show wear,

twisting or any damage, replace them.

Keep hook latch pins and wire rope lightly oiled.

Inspect wire rope for kinks, corrosion, fraying,

etc. If corrosion is apparent, clean with a stiff

wire brush and lightly oil. If wire rope is

damaged or badly corroded, replace it.

Keep hoist clean of dirt, grease and water.

Replacing Wire Rope

NOTE: Replacement of the wire rope should be

done by trained service personnel. Any re-

assembly of parts of the hoist must be done

correctly to ensure safety and proper function of

the device.
