1 Introduction
This manual is valid for the MID1) variants of KeContact P30.
The pictured devices used in this manual are visual examples. The figures
and explanations contained in this manual refer to a typical device design.
The devices used by you may differ in their appearance.
1) MID: European Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU
1.1 Representation of safety instructions
At various points in this manual, you will see notes and precautionary warn-
ings regarding possible hazards. The symbols used have the following
meaning:
DANGER!
indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which will result in death or se-
rious bodily injury if the corresponding precautions are not taken.
WARNING!
indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which can result in death or seri-
ous bodily injury if the corresponding precautions are not taken.
CAUTION!
means that if the corresponding safety measures are not taken, a potentially
hazardous situation can occur that may result in slight bodily injury.
Caution
means that damage to property can occur if the corresponding safety mea-
sures are not taken.
ESD
This symbol reminds you of the possible consequences of touching electro-
statically sensitive components.
Information
Identifies practical tips and useful information. No information that warns

1.2 Purpose of the document
This document describes the MID-specific functions and features of the rele-
vant variants of KeContact P30. The document is intended for charging sta-
tion operators, calibration authorities or similar institutions.
This document is an extension to the supplied manuals of the charging sta-
tion.
You must comply with all instructions and safety notes in the supplied
manuals!
1.3 Requirements
This document contains information for persons who meet the following re-
quirements:

The manual is part of the product. It is to be retained over the entire life cycle

abling of safety devices. Apart from the safety instructions given in this man-
ual, the safety precautions and accident prevention measures appropriate to
the situation in question must also be observed.

2 Description of the MID device
The MID variants are approved for the measurement of active energy for
billing purposes in accordance with the European Measuring Instruments Di-
rective (MID) 2014/32/EU. The MID variants have an active power meter
(certified energy meter) and are specifically indicated on the type plate. The
associated type examination refers to the complete unit.

2.2 Type plate
The MID variants are specifically identified as such on the type plate.

2.3 Meter seal
The meter seal is located on the lower right screw of the front part with the
housing cover removed. The meter seal has the following number on it: 3002
2073

Information
If the meter seal is removed, you must assume that an attempt has been
made to tamper with the meter. The charging station loses its conformity
and may no longer be put into operation or used.

2.4 Overview of MID variants
The type and features of the charging station can be determined by the
product designation on the type plate.
Charging stations that are approved as active power meters in accordance
with MID 2014/32/EU, accuracy class B, have an M in the product designa-
tion: KC-P30-xxxxxxxx-Mxx-xx

3 Display
3.1 Display
The MID variants have an LED dot matrix display. For the calibration validity
of the charging station, a correct display and sufficient readability are re-
quired.

The display may show different information depending on the operating sta-
tus (e.g., software version, IP address, authorization request). The main
task, however, is to display the status of the internal energy meter. During
periods of inactivity, the display brightness is reduced and switched off after
a few minutes.
The preceding "MI" indicates a notice relevant to calibration law. All other in-
dications on the display are informative.
The display lights up through the housing and is only visible when the power
supply is active. For further details about the information on the display, see
"Operating Instructions".
3.2 Brightness sensor
The brightness sensor is located on the front of the charging station on the
left below the LED bar. The information display can be triggered via the
brightness sensor.

Information
The maximum meter reading is 99 999, after reaching this value the meter
starts from "0" again.
4.1 Measurement principle
The measurement of the transmitted energy takes place by means of pas-
sive transducers on all phases to be contacted.

4.3 Operational readiness
The active power meter is active in all available operating modes in which
power can be delivered (including commissioning mode and test mode). See
6.1 Test mode for an overview of the operating modes.

5 Read off device information and meter reading
No special access rights are required for reading off the information.
Information
The required energy for setting the charging station by the manufacturer
and for the commissioning process are part of the total energy. For this rea-
son, the meter reading will not have the value "0" after the installation has
been completed.
The following checks must be carried out in order to make sure that the me-
ter reading is valid.
5.1 Necessary checks
The following points must be checked in order to accept the meter reading
as valid.
● Integrity of the charging station and associated components such as
charging cable, charging connector or charging socket
● Sufficient period of validity of the calibration according to the calibration
plate. The information is visible on the type plate after initial placing on
the market or on the front part when calibrated.
● Correct product designation according to type plate (see 2.4 Overview of
MID variants)
● Correct function of the display and sufficient readability of the meter
reading
● Undamaged seal on the connection panel cover or terminal cover
● Undamaged meter seal on the front part with the number 3002 2073
5.2 Trigger information display
A display of the device information and the meter reading on the display can
be triggered during the following activities:
● Start and end of a charging process
● Start or restart of the charging station
For more information see "Operating Instructions".
In addition, the information display can also be triggered via the brightness
sensor.

Trigger information display via brightness sensor
To trigger the information display, the brightness sensor (see 3.2 Brightness
sensor) must be covered ("dark") and illuminated ("light") in a defined se-
quence. Each state ("dark" or "light") must last between 1 and 5 seconds.
Sequence: Dark > Light > Dark > Light > Dark
The states ("dark" or "light") can be generated using a flashlight. The flash-
light is placed directly in front of the sensor and switched on and off in the
defined sequence.
5.3 Information display
The following information is displayed one after the other. The displayed in-
formation must be checked for correctness, in order to accept the meter
reading as valid.

6 Calibrate the device
A calibration of the charging station may only be carried out by a specifically
authorized calibration authority. A calibration may only be carried out on a
charging station whose meter seal on the front part is intact. To carry out cal-
ibration, the charging station must be in test mode, only then can the mea-
suring accuracy of the active power meter in the charging station be
checked.
In test mode, the energy transferred from the charging station is displayed
directly on the charging station display. The resolution of the displayed en-
ergy is 0.1 Wh. In addition, the pulse LED outputs 10,000 light pulses per
transmitted kilowatt hour. With a special testing device, the energy transmit-
ted by the charging station can be compared with the light pulses of the
pulse LED. This comparison allows conclusions to be drawn about the accu-
racy of the energy detection and energy display.

A test device is connected to the charging station for the measurement. On
the input side, the test probes are connected to the supply terminals. On the
output side, the test probes are inserted into the contacts of the charging
socket. The pulse LED is evaluated with the evaluation unit.

6.1 Test mode
In test mode, the charging station behaves as follows:
● The contactor is switched on for 3 hours to allow power transmission for
test purposes.
● The CP "Control Pilot" communication cable is fixed at 12 V to prevent a
vehicle from charging. The power must be drawn off by means of a spe-
cial load.
● DC residual current detection is deactivated. This is necessary to enable
a measurement despite poor synchronization of the current sources of
the test device (≥ 6 mA direct current).
● Monitoring of the contactor function (weld detection and read-back con-
tact) is deactivated. This is necessary due to the special behavior of the
energy source in the test device.
● The pulse LED flashes with 10,000 light pulses per kilowatt hour.
● The display shows the total energy in 0.1 Wh („Ʃ Wh“).
● Segment S3 on the LED bar lights up orange and segment S1 flashes
green.
Information
In test mode, there is no change in the mode of operation or measurement
accuracy of the active power meter. Only the resolution of the display is
changed
The transmitted energy in test mode is added to the total energy.
The table compares the behavior of the charging station in the "Operation",
"Commissioning" and "Test mode" modes.

6.2 Activate/deactivate test mode
Test mode is activated and deactivated in the charging station connection
panel. To access the connection panel, the housing cover and the connec-
tion panel cover must be removed. For a description of how to remove the
covers, see "Operating Instructions".

Activate test mode
Information
Before the test mode is activated, the current setting of the DIP switches
should be noted so that the DIP switches can then be set back to their origi-
nal values.
Necessary aids: Jumper
To activate the test mode, proceed as follows:
1) Switch off the supply voltage of the charging station.
2) Set the jumper on the pin strip for the jumper X6.
3) Set the DIP switches for the charging current to 32 A:

DSW1.7 to OFF
DSW1.8 to ON
4) Set the DIP switch for commissioning mode DSW2.8 to ON.
5) Switch on the supply voltage of the charging station.
Test mode is activated.
