Before You Begin
CAUTION: Risk of eye injury. Always wear safety glasses when cutting or drilling.
CAUTION: Risk of injury or product damage. Tempered glass cannot be cut.
IMPORTANT! Pay special attention to the section titled ″Very Important Instructions.″Failure to follow
the directions could result in product damage.
NOTE: When using a retractable case tape measure, make sure that you add the length of the case to the
measurement, or measure in a manner that excludes the case.
Lay out and identify the parts. Inspect them for damage.
Return the glass panels to their packaging and place them in a safe area until they are needed.
The bath/shower should be installed at this time, including finished wall materials.

track.

1. Measure and Cut the Bottom Track
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury. Always wear safety glasses when cutting materials.
Measure from wall to wall at the flattest part of the shower ledge (dimension ″D″).
Mark dimension ″D″on the bottom track.
IMPORTANT! For best results, use a 32 teeth per inch hacksaw blade and a miter box to cut the bottom
track.
Subtract 7/8″(2.2 cm) from dimension ″D″and cut the bottom track to this dimension.
File the rough edges smooth where the bottom track was cut, taking care not to mar the finished
surface.
NOTE: If there are curves where the sidewalls meet the threshold, use a file to contour the bottom track
edges to match the curves.
Measure carefully. If your walls
are curved or angled, measure above the curve or
angle. Failure to do so can result in an improperly cut
bottom track and can void the warranty.

2. Position the Bottom Track
Drill the Guide Holes
Divide the final length of the bottom track by 4.
From one end of the bottom track, measure the determined distance and mark the bottom track on
the V-Groove.
Repeat with the other end of the bottom track.
Determine the centerline of the bottom track and mark the V-Groove.
Place a guide on the bottom track and align the hole in the guide with the mark on the V-Groove.
IMPORTANT! Do not install the guides at this time.
Using the hole in the guide as a template, drill a 1/8″diameter hole through the bottom track.
Repeat at opposite side of the bottom track and center guide locations.
Position the Bottom Track
Place the bottom track on the flattest part of the bath/shower ledge with the leg toward the outside
of the shower.
Position the bottom track so there is an equal gap at both ends of the bottom track.
Temporarily secure the bottom track to the ledge with masking tape.
Mark the ledge along the front edge of the bottom track with a soft pencil.

3. Mark the Wall Jamb Locations
Position a wall jamb against the wall directly over the bottom track. The wall jamb should sit flat
against the wall.
Slide the wall jamb down over the bottom track until the wall jamb and bottom track are fully
engaged.
IMPORTANT! The wall jamb must sit flat on the bottom ledge. If your ledge has a curve in the corners at
the side wall, it may be necessary to shape the bottom end of the wall jamb with a file.
Level the wall jamb vertically.
Using the pre-drilled screw holes as a guide, mark the hole locations on the wall.
Repeat this procedure with the second wall jamb.
Remove the bottom track and wall jambs.
NOTE: When installing on ceramic tile, use a center punch to nick the surface of the glaze. Tap the center
punch lightly with a hammer to avoid cracking the tile.
Lightly center punch the hole locations.
Drill a 5/16″hole at each mark. Use a tile or masonry bit for ceramic tile.
Press and hold the legs of each anchor (provided) together and insert the anchor legs into the
pre-drilled mounting holes.
Repeat for all the anchors.
Thoroughly clean the shower floor, ledge, and wall.

4. Caulk and Install the Bottom Track
Apply a bead of caulk or sealant in the front groove on the underside of the bottom track.
Apply a second, smaller bead of caulk or sealant to the other edge on the underside of the bottom
track.
Install the bottom track on the ledge at the marked location.
5. Install the Wall Jambs
Position a wall jamb over the bottom track and align the holes in the jamb with the holes in the
wall.
Insert a #8-18 x 1-1/2″screw through a bumper and wall jamb and thread it into the wall.
Repeat with the other screws.
Insert the bumper inserts into the bumpers.
Repeat the procedure with the second wall jamb.

6. Install the Top Track
NOTE: The top track is designed so either side may be positioned facing outward according to your
preference.
Measure the distance from wall to wall at the top of the wall jambs.
Mark the top track at the determined dimension.
NOTE: For best results, use a 32 teeth per inch hacksaw blade and miter box.
Cut the top track on the inside edge of the mark [approximately 1/32″(1 mm) from the mark] to
allow space for the top track to slide into place easily.
Carefully file the cut edges until smooth, taking care to avoid damaging finished surfaces.
Place the top track over the wall jambs.
From the inside of the shower, measure 1/2″(1.3 cm) up from the bottom edge of the top track,
and measure 3/4″(1.9 cm) in from the outside edge. Mark with a pencil.
At the marked location, drill a 5/32″(4 mm) hole through both the wall jamb and top track.
From inside the shower, repeat the steps on the other end of the top track.
Secure the top track with two #8-18 x 3/8″panhead screws.

7. Install the Rollers
Install the Hanger Bracket
Insert a bushing into one of the holes at the top of the glass panels.
Install a hanger bracket over the glass panel, aligning the hole in the bracket with the bushing.
Insert a bolt through the hanger bracket hole and bushing. Secure with a blind nut.
Repeat the above steps to install the remaining three hanger brackets.
NOTE: The steel side of the roller must be installed against the hanger bracket.
Install the Outside Panel Rollers
IMPORTANT! If the glass panels have a textured side, install both rollers on the textured side of the
panel. If the glass panels are smooth on both sides, make sure that both rollers are installed on the same
side of the panel.
Assemble the rollers and #8-32 x 3/8″screws through the center hole of each hanger bracket.
Install the Inside Panel Rollers
IMPORTANT! If the glass panels have a textured side, install both rollers on the smooth side of the panel.
If the glass panels are smooth on both sides, make sure that both rollers are installed on the same side of
the panel.
Assemble the rollers and #8-32 x 3/8″screws through the center hole of each hanger bracket.

8. Install the Door Panels
NOTE: Perform these installation steps from outside the bath/shower.
Install the Panels
Lift the inside door panel with the rollers facing away from you.
Position the rollers on the inside rail of the top track on the inside panel.
Lift the outside door panel with the rollers facing you and position the rollers on the outside rail.
Position the rollers on the outside rail of the top track on the outside panel.
Check the panels for proper alignment and smooth operation. Adjust as needed.
Adjusting the Rollers (Optional)
Remove the door panel.
Loosen the roller screw(s) and move the roller(s) to another hole in the hanger bracket.
Reinsert and tighten the screws, and reinstall the panel.

9. Install the Bottom Track Guides
Push both door panels to the same side of the opening.
Place a guide on the bottom track, and align it with the drilled hole at the center of the bottom
track.
Secure the guide with a #8-18 x 3/8″panhead screw.
Place another guide near the end of the bottom track away from the door panels, and align it with
the drilled hole.
Secure the guide with a #8-18 x 3/8″panhead screw.
Push both door panels to the other side of the opening.
Place the third guide near the end of the bottom track away from the door panels, and align it with
the drilled hole.

10. Install the Towel Bar
Install the Panel Brackets
NOTE: The towel bar should be installed on the outside panel.
Place a panel bracket on the left hand towel bracket.
Align the hole in the panel bracket with the hole in the towel bar bracket.
Secure with a #8-32 x 5/16″flathead screw.
Repeat the procedure for the other panel bracket and the right hand towel bar bracket.
Install the First Bracket
IMPORTANT! Use one clamp gasket on each side of clear glass panels. Pebble glass panels are thinner;
use two clamp gaskets on each side of pebble glass panels.
Fit a clamp gasket(s) over the left side of the outside glass panel at the horizontal center of the
panel.
Push the left hand towel bar bracket onto the clamp gasket.
Complete the Installation
Insert the longer towel bar into the top hole of the left towel bar bracket, and insert the other towel
bar into the bottom hole of the towel bar bracket.
Fit a gasket on the right side of the door panel, making sure that it is level with the left side towel
bar bracket.
Push the right hand towel bar bracket onto the clamp gasket while pushing the towel bars into the
bracket.
Insert two setscrews into each towel bar bracket and tighten.

11. Install the Handles
NOTE: Install the handle on the inside door panel, on the side nearest the showerhead.
Make sure that the glass on the inside panel is clean and dry.
Remove the plastic covering from one side of the tape and apply the tape to the smooth side of each
handle.
Remove the plastic covering from the remaining side of the tape and install one of the handles 2″
(5.1 cm) from the edge on the horizontal centerline of the inside panel.
Install the other handle directly behind the installed handle on the opposite side of the glass.

12. Final Caulking
IMPORTANT! Carefully follow the caulk or silicone sealant manufacturer’s instructions for application
and curing time.
NOTE: Your shower door may not appear exactly as shown. The application of sealant or caulk is the
same.
NOTE: Thoroughly clean and dry all dust, dirt, and grease from the bottom track and shower ledge
surfaces where caulk or sealant will be applied.
Carefully apply caulk or sealant where:
the wall jambs and wall meet inside the shower.
the bottom track and wall jamb meet.
Care and Cleaning
For best results, keep the following in mind when caring for your STERLING product:
Always test your cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area before applying to the entire surface.
Wipe surfaces clean and rinse completely with water immediately after applying cleaner. Rinse and
dry overspray that lands on nearby surfaces.
Do not allow cleaners to sit or soak.
Use a soft, dampened sponge or cloth. Never use an abrasive material such as a brush or scouring
pad to clean surfaces.
Do not use abrasive cleansers or acidic solvents on Vikrell surfaces as they may cause surface
dullness or discoloration.

Care and Cleaning (cont.)
Wipe your bath or shower unit with a soft cloth after each use to prevent a buildup of soap and
scum.
Extreme heat such as that generated by cigarettes or portable heaters can damage Vikrell surfaces.
Do not use such items near your bath or shower unit.

Based on the classification specified above, Sterling, a division of Kohler Co., (Sterling) bath and shower
doors are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects within the time of the specified model’s limited
warranty from date of sale.
Sterling will, at its election, repair, rectify or replace a fixture when Sterling’s inspection discloses any such
defects occurring in normal usage within the time period of coverage stated above. Sterling is not responsible
for removal or installation costs where replacement is indicated. Damages due to improper handling,
installation or maintenance are not considered manufacturing defects and are not covered by this warranty.
This warranty is valid for the original, consumer purchaser only.
