Larson Electronics RCL700 Operation and maintenance manual

Larson Electronics, LLC. (RCL700 rev 07-27-2018)
Troubleshoong
If your RCL700 stops operang,pleasecheck forthe following condions:
1. Check the baeries in the wireless remote.
2. The inrush current for an incandescent lamp is typically ten to fieen mes the operang
current and an HID switching power supply inrush current can be even greater. This high
inrush current can cause a severe voltage drop if the power feed wires are long, under size or
the power supply is weak. This may cause the receiver circuit to enter a low voltage shutdown
state. It is recommended to only turn on the lights while the vehicle is running. The power to
the RCL700 needs to be cycled offand back on to reset the shutdown circuit.
3. The motor control circuit is overcurrent and over temperature protected in the event the light
is jammed againstan imovable object. The power to the RCL700 willneed to be cycled off
and back on to reset the overcurrent/over temperature circuit.

Pre-Installaon
The RCL700 package includes the following items:
•RCL700 unit
•Factory pre-synchronized wireless remote
The RCL700 package does not include the following items that may be required:
•Mounng bracket (dependent on vehicle applicaon)
•12 AWG or larger wire (65 strand recommended)
•Fuse block or fuse
•Wiring terminals and connectors, heat shrink tubing, wire es and mounts as needed
Important! Read all installaon procedures before beginning installaon.
•The RCL700 can be mounted in any position, upright, sideways or upside down.
However, consult factory if mounng sideways or upside down.
•Select a mounng locaon that will provide sufficient strength to support the light and
provide access to the wiring.
•Select a mounng position that will allow sufficient clearance for rotation of
lights. The RCL700 will rotate through 330 degrees on each axis.
•The RCL700 requires a protected 12 volt supply at a minimum of 20 amps. Use 12 AWG 65
strand wire or larger to extend power wires.
•Protect all wires from sharp edges to prevent chaffing.
•Secure all wiring with wire es and mounts as needed to stay clear of all moving parts.
Installaon
1. Provide a ¾ to 13/16 inch clearance hole to accept the ¾-16 UNF threaded sha. The
maximum distance between mounng nuts is ¼ inch.
2. Secure the light to the mounng surface with the washers and ¾-16 UNF nuts provided.
3. Use appropriate terminaons to extend the red and black wires and route them to a
protected 12 volt power source at a minimum of 20 amps.
4. Connect the black wire to the negave (-12 volt) supply.
5. Connect the red wire to the posive (+12 volt) supply.
Remote Controllers
The wireless remote control features multiple frequency settings that allow more than one unit to be
uesd at a single site. The buttons glow in the dark for eeasy night use and is sealed off from the
elements. The wireless remote is effective to 850 feet and operates on 303.87MHz.
•UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT controls the moon direcon.
•The wireless transmier is powered by 9v baery.
The baerycan be replaced by loosening the top screw securing the belt clip and
removing the lower screw over the battery cover on the back of the transmier.
